New Skill In Hard Times

"So, tell me, human! What do you think you will get out of this?" The big demon asked Einar with a cruel smile.

"Well, nothing in particular; for now, I get to fight some strong opponents!" Einar answered with a smirk. "Another thing, I get to rid this world of two demons!" Einar continued as his smirk grew wider. He wanted to provoke the demon into making mistakes.

"Oh, you think you can kill us?" The smaller demon started releasing a massive amount of killing intent again. It was clear that it had taken offense to be looked down upon.

Seeing the anger in the small demon's eyes and silent anger in the big demon's eyes, Einar couldn't help but feel happy that it worked. Einar knew that demons had a sense of pride because they had superior bodies compared to humans, so being looked down on by a human, was a great humiliation.

"I don't think I know!" Einars' smirk grew cruel, and he had nothing more to say to them, as this conversation had done what he wanted. Drag out some time, and provoke them again.

BOOM!

A loud explosion happened in front of Adrian as both the demons released all their pent-up killing intent. The humiliation Adrian had brought to them had angered them a little too much. Einar also knew they had probably become stronger through their anger, but he also knew they had become easier to read.

BOOM!

A vast crater suddenly appeared where Einar had been standing before. A spider web pattern moved from it in a few meters radius. Adrian stood outside this crater, though, as he had dashed right out before the demon hit with his hammer.

The smaller demon then once again used barrage on Einar, it fired many more arrows, but they somehow moved slower. Adrian could clearly see their trajectory so that he could dodge and block all of them.

The problem with blocking them though was that there was too much power in each arrow. He could feel his arm go numb for every arrow that hit his spear. Small unnoticeable cracks even started to appear on his spear.

*Swush*

As Einar was focusing on dodging arrows, a huge hammer came flying at him from the side. He barely dodged it, as he bent down to an almost ninety-degree angle backward. The gust of wind the hammer made, was powerful enough to rip off his shirt.

"Fucking attack you coward, don't just keep dodging!" The smaller demon was annoyed. Three attacks from them had not been enough to even land a single hit.

"You sure?" Einar answered back with a provocative smile.

As soon as his words fell, he stumped the ground and used 'Spearman's charge' towards the smaller demon.

The demon dodged the spear by jumping backward, just out of reach. What surprised him, was that the momentum from the spear did not end where the spear tip ended, as a rampant air current crashed onto his body, and sent him flying.

He slid back 5 steps. His body was still that of a demon, so this gust of wind was not enough to damage him. What was surprising though, was that this wind still had enough power after the spear stopped.

Einar did not stop there though, as he went straight for 'perforate.' Two of the three strikes hit the body of the demon, making a hole in the shoulder and the stomach.

Looking down at its body, the smaller demon was quite shocked. It had never anticipated that Adrian would be strong enough to hurt it, especially not when it had an ally. It was not worried though, as a demon, the regeneration ability it had, this was not life-threatening. Even if the spear had penetrated the heart, it would not be deadly.

Demons can regenerate the heart through almost any injury. The regeneration speed of the heart of course depends on the damage done. It can not be healed though if the heart is completely destroyed.

This small action from Adrian did not only shock the smaller demon, the bigger demon was shocked too. This all happened within a breath of time, which was too fast for the bigger demon to react in time.

"You wanted me to attack, right?" Adrian saw their shocked expression and came up with a provocative sentence. This sentence in contrast with his calm smile was at the peak of humiliation.

The humiliation the smaller demon felt at this moment, was far greater than anything it have ever tried before. The smaller demon could only thank the demon god for there being no one watching, as this would make him the laughing stock in the demon realm.

"I am going to fucking kill you!!!" The smaller demon could not tolerate this defeat, as its anger exploded.

It threw away the bow in its hands, as he drew a small sword, from seemingly empty space. The sword was a one-edged sword, with a curved blade. It had a blood-red aura around it, which felt vicious.

The bigger demon knew of this sword, as it was called 'The Blood Devourer.' The sword was very strong and evil, but it had one major flaw. Its strongest ability was also a kind of drawback. The only way to draw out its full ability would be through giving it blood, preferably your opponents, but most of the time, it would be your own, since you will only draw this sword as a last resort against stronger opponents.

Adrian felt this vicious energy as well, and he started to feel both fear and excitement. The fear came from him not being sure he would make it out alive, but the excitement came from him fighting a strong opponent.

The demon dashed straight at Adrian, much faster than before, as its strength had been boosted by the sword. He used the ability 'Barrage' once again, this time it was the sword version. The sword would be swung around ten times in one second, which would be almost impossible for Adrian to avoid.

The barrage hit all ten times, but Adrian had managed to deflect most of the cuts from vital areas. Except for a single one, which hit him in the groin. The wound was not deep, but it is enough to affect Adrians' fighting.

There were two opponents, which was already hard enough, and now he could not move as fast as before. This was a big problem in a fight like this. He had been using his speed to avoid attacks from his opponents, and now that he couldn't really do that anymore, he had to use another method.

Thinking about this, he knew what to do, as he had an ability that was perfect for this situation. He had the skill 'Instinct' after all. He would not be able to attack using the skill, but it would be good for avoiding and blocking attacks.

Deciding that that would be his go-to plan, he did not move from where he stood. he went to a perfect standing position, standing tall, with an ice-cold indifferent face, as he was concentrating.

"Have you given up from only that wound? Hahaha" Seeing that Adrian did not move, the bigger demon tried to taunt him. The problem with that though was that he got no answer whatsoever. Adrian just stood tall, without saying a word.

This in turn infuriated the demon even more, as he launched an attack on Adrian with his massive hammer.

Jumping in the air, and smashing the hammer down towards Adrian's head was his plan. Seeing that the hammer was only a few centimeters from hitting his head, the demon calmed down and was excited to see it succeed.

To the demon's surprise though, just before the hammer hit his head, Adrian deflected the attack, and all the momentum the hammer had saved up, rushed straight at the smaller demon.

[You have learned the skill 'Deflection' level 1]

This momentum was not small, as it had created a massive crater earlier in the fight, and this momentum would be strong enough to destroy most fighters at Adrian's level.

The bigger demon had no time to pull back the attack anymore, as the momentum was already out of his hand. The smaller demon caught the momentum straight on and was sent flying for tens of meters.

*Thud*

"Blurgh"

Upon landing on the other side of the arena, the smaller demon through up a mouthful of blood. He had not had any time whatsoever to put up a guard, so he caught the brunt of it.

This deflection shocked both the two demons, as they had never tried this before. They had never been in a fight before, where their opponent could use their own attacks against them.

Adrian himself was quite shocked too, as he had not meant to do that. All he wanted to do, was block the attack. At the last moment, before the attack hit though, his body instinctively moved and sent the attack's momentum towards the smaller demon.

'How the hell did that happen?'
