Chapter 7: The Woman Familiar to the Bone

"Stop the car, let's go in." George Flack slightly closed his eyes, suppressing the surging emotions in his heart and said in a hoarse voice.

Since his assistant saw her there, then she must have come to this banquet.

He wanted to find her in person, and then ask her why she left without saying goodbye, and why she didn't come to find him after returning...

The driver quickly stopped the car, George Flack leaned back in his seat, waiting for his mood to calm down before getting out of the car.

As soon as he got out, the previously somewhat noisy voices disappeared in an instant, and everyone looked at him with surprise, admiration, or envy.

The atmosphere seemed to be frozen for a moment.

George Flack, oblivious to the gazes of those people, lowered his beautiful eyes and walked towards the hotel with a cold demeanor.

Only after he left did the outside start to buzz with whispers.

"Mr. Flack, who rarely attends banquets, is here, proving that the relationship between Mr. Samuel Mamet and George Flack is not just a rumor."

"Exactly, with Mr. Flack helping backstage, there's no need for Mr. Samuel Mamet to worry this time."

"Tsk, at such a young age, Mr. Flack has already achieved something we can't. It's true; one can be envious when comparing ourselves to others."

"Enough already, we can't compare with him..."

The banquet was held on the 58th floor. As soon as Aria and Dean Taylor walked in, they experienced another wave of gazes.

Young men looked at her with admiration and curiosity, while celebrity ladies looked at her with suspicion and vigilance; various emotions were present.

Aria ignored them, quietly scanning the banquet venue, but didn't notice any of the previous investors. She then lowered her eyes and chose an inconspicuous place to sit down.

Dean asked the staff for a teapot and brewed a coffee cup for her. Although looking harmless and smiling, he was actually alert to the people around.

As long as someone showed signs of wanting to hurt Aria, he would subdue that person.

Even though Aria sat in the corner, she couldn't resist the curiosity of others.

Her appearance was so outstanding that almost none of the well-known ladies present could match her.

Everyone was guessing who she was; they couldn't help but glance in her direction several times.

But they didn't dare to strike up a conversation with her because her temperament was cold and indifferent. Just sitting there, she exuded an intimidating aura that they didn't dare to provoke.

When Samuel Mamet came downstairs, he saw this strange scene.

He walked over to a rich second-generation friend who usually had a good relationship with him, looking puzzled, "What are you guys doing? Why are you all looking over there?"

"Mr. Samuel Mamet." Lucas pulled Samuel towards him and secretly pointed at Aria, "Take a look, a stunning beauty."

"Stop joking, there's no such stunning beauty in Malco City." Samuel scoffed, but as soon as he followed Lucas' gaze, his eyes widened and he almost bit his tongue: "Sis-in-law, sis, sis-in-law?!?!"

What the heck!

Could someone tell him why Aria, who had been missing for so long, would appear here?

Does Mr. Flack know?

"What 'sis-in-law'? What are you talking about?" Lucas looked at Samuel, perplexed.

"Don't ask." Samuel patted his shoulder, his heart filled with excitement as he strode towards Aria.

"As expected of Mr. Samuel Mamet, so courageous." A young man behind Lucas looked at Samuel's back and sighed.

Lucas shook his head, pointing at the smiling Dean, "I don't think Mr. Samuel Mamet will succeed this time, look at the man next to that woman. He doesn't seem easy to deal with."

Indeed, Dean who was not easy to deal with got up and stopped Samuel as he approached Aria.

"Sorry, Mister, we're not looking for project partners at the moment. Please leave."

"Dean." Samuel was about to speak but was interrupted by Aria's indifferent voice, "Let him come, I know him."

Dean nodded slightly and stepped aside, "Yes."

Lucas originally thought that Samuel would suffer a setback, but suddenly saw him sitting opposite the woman, his eyes widening in surprise, "As expected of Mr. Samuel Mamet."

The gazes of the celebrity ladies towards Aria had turned from scrutiny to jealousy and sarcasm.

Samuel was not aware of the thoughts of Lucas and others at this time. He was looking at Aria, whose temperament and personality had changed dramatically, his initial excitement gradually subsiding.

As he scrutinized Aria, she was also sizing him up.

Five years ago, Samuel was just a high school student who didn't know the depths of the world. Now, he had grown into a qualified heir, with a calm and stable air about him, but occasionally, his immature past self could still be seen.

Samuel's handsome features and refined facial structure were only a little inferior to George's.

"Sis-in-law, where have you been these years? Why did you leave without a word?" Samuel scratched his head, looking somewhat uneasy.

Five years ago, Aria left without a word, and both George and Samuel spent a long time looking for her but couldn't find her.

He thought she had met with an accident, but instead, she was safe and sound, and had undergone such a great change.

"Samuel, I'm no longer your sis-in-law." Aria put down the white coffee cup in her hand, her eyes staring into his, black and calm, "I hope you won't call me that again."

Because Samuel had always considered George his elder brother, he had called her "sis-in-law."

Now, the title no longer belonged to her.

Looking at her composed expression, Samuel scratched his head again and didn't call her that anymore, "Then Aria, where have you been these years? Why didn't you tell me?"

"I went abroad for further studies, and I didn't have time to inform you." Aria took a sip of her coffee and replied casually.

Samuel tried to get more information from Aria's words so he could later tell George everything, but her replies were vague, revealing very little.

Up to now, all he knew was that she had gone abroad for further studies five years ago, but nothing else.

But if it was just for further studies, why did she change so much?

Every time he inquired, Aria would change the subject. In the end, he was the one talking and she, listening.

After Samuel went to Aria, everyone's attention was focused on them. They had initially thought there would be some conflict, but the two seemed to be having a pleasant conversation.

For a while, everyone felt jealous, but they didn't know if it was directed at Aria or at Samuel, who had successfully approached her.

During their conversation, George arrived at the banquet venue.

As soon as he walked in, he saw the familiar woman sitting in the corner, recognizable down to her bones.
