From his perspective, Butterfly was always the most important thing, so seeing a new script made him think that it was tailor-made for that couple. So he didn't have the time to care about anything else.
He didn't care at all about George's attitude.
David definitely wanted to inform Matt, as opportunities like this were not easy to come by for a fresh new face. If he could seize this chance to appear in the public eye, becoming famous worldwide wouldn't be out of reach.
