Mallia Mamet had actually guessed it already because Benjamin Swantz mentioned reviewing surveillance footage, which certainly pertained to Aria Grant's kidnapping case! She really wanted to ask what exactly had happened, but Mallia still held back, feeling there was no need to expose herself. Why should she show that she cared so much?

"My colleague was just calling me about Aria Grant's case, saying we can't make anything out from the surveillance."

Why did Benjamin tell her all of this? Did he consider her a friend and simply wanted to share with her, or was he trying to test her?

Mallia didn't know, so she remained a bit guarded.

"But why are you telling me all this?"

If Mallia hadn't said anything, it would have been better since the details Benjamin mentioned were not too secretive—she could easily make them out. Yet she had to pretend she didn't know, which was the strangest part!
