Convulsion

3 people sat quietly on the luxurious dining table made from a rare material found only in Gates. At the head of the table sat the imposing figure of Alexander Duketh.

He sported jet black hair that was nicely styled to the side while his signature crimson eyes set themselves on Cynthia. Her eyes were the exact replica of his. Everything from her unfeeling gaze to her icy aura was a perfect copy of his.

All his children inherited the same eyes as him but none of them could give off the same gaze as the child that was born from his love.

Alexander nodded in approval internally as he placed the fancy bib over her black suit vest. He looked over to his wife, Alison Duketh, who sat at his left.

She also wore her bib over a black dress over her purple dress. It was a dark shade of purple that matched her hair and eyes perfectly.

Alexander then scrutinized his second youngest, the purple-haired and red-eyed Oswin Duketh who was in a white designer jacket and black jeans while playing games on his smartphone.

He shook his head in disappointment internally. Alexander is the man that shows no emotions to his family just like his daughter, Cynthia, does.

The young man sits over one seat from the right. The seat closest to his father's right was reserved for the more capable Antoine Duketh.

The seat next to Alison was for Lilliana Duketh. The Duketh family's youngest gem was born only a month after Cynthia.

That's why Cynthia sat in the chair right after Lilliana's. The two similarly aged sisters were to get along based on the wishes of their father.

They couldn't make wish a reality as two could barely communicate with each other because of drastically different personalities and hobbies.

Not a single person in the dining room spoke. Only the noise of the servants placing trays of food could be heard and even that was not very loud.

They were trained with the highest degree of professionalism to the point where they made a minimal level of noise when around their masters or guests.

This silence lasted for only 3 minutes but it felt like an eternity to Cynthia who was only 3 feet away from Oswin. She was struggling so hard to restraint the fire in her veins that sweat started to trickle very slowly from her forehead.

Thankfully, no one noticed as they were all busy doing things. Oswin played games on his phone while Alison went through her social media accounts. Alexander was looking through documents on his laptop.

No one ever cared to show much attention to Cynthia'spresence. Just because she was used to it though didn't mean that it didn't hurt her deep inside.

She would never acknowledge those feelings though as they would only hold her back.

One liked to play, one liked to flaunt while the other worked hard so the rest could do as they want.

This was how this family worked for many years until Antoine graduated from high school.

He entered Duketh Group as an intern at merely 18 and proved himself capable of taking on a prominent position at just 21.

His 22nd birthday is in a month and Cynthia remembered that he would be promoted to an even higher position the week after.

Most of the company executives have faith that his skill and intuition. They also value the connections he has made in his youth with heirs of companies all over the nation.

"Good afternoon everyone," says Antione as he enters the room in a hurry. His voice sounded like a chirping robin, full of life and joyous energy. His bright smile made the corners of Alison's mouth curve upwards.

She was was beyond bored of scrolling through the eternally peaceful lives of her acquaintances. Seeing her son so healthy and happy made her want to go hug him right now but she held back as making sudden movement was bad for her joints.

Alison had contracted a rare condition that caused her joints to deteriorate at a fast rate. It was manageable as there are medicines that can help curb the disease.

Cynthia's mother, Mellisa had a much rarer condition. It was an allergy to objects and people with a somewhat dense amount of mana.

On the streets, there were always a considerable amount of people present with good amounts of mana in them. Some people without superpowers could still use weapons and items with special properties caused by mana.

That's why she couldn't be taken out on the streets and there were also no cures, treatments, or medicines available.

Antoine found his seat next to his younger brother but not before he smacked him on the head.

"Ow! What was that for bro?" Oswin had a pained expression on his face as held the back of his head and protested.

"How did you forget that I can see your credit card details?"Antoine answered his question with another question that caused the younger one to frown.

"Oh! Hahaha...that...that was because it's Beatrice's birthday tomorrow and I wanted to get her something nice." There was a flash of anger and surprise in his eyes. He answered his older brother while looking towards his mother's face for help.

"I told you it was a gift for her dear. You don't always have to scrutinize your younger brother."Alison was always ready to defend her precious children from each other as she knew very well how much they loved to tease each other.

"And that's exactly why I don't tell you about these matters beforehand." Antoine smiled and shook his head."I went back and checked again. Right after he spent 3 million on the gift, he bought a new car for 4.5 million."

"You did what!?" screamed two voices in surprise and a little bit of disappointment. One belonged to Alison who said so right to Oswin's face while the other one came from the dining room entrance.

A young girl with golden hair as radiant as the sun and amber eyes that shone like stars. Her face round face was crafted with perfection as there was not a single blemish.

After you add her angelic voice and aura of purity, all one could think of was a luminous goddess who can never be sullied.

Even Cynthia acknowledged the fact that this girl could melt the heart of any man she comes across.

'All, except one.' She was giddy inside as she had found a man that was completely immune to this girl's charms. She wondered once that man might have no heart at all until he stole hers and gave her his.

Lillian Duketh. The youngest child of the Duketh family. The one woman blessed by the heavens above with who knows how much luck.

Not only could she practically grasp any man with her looks, she was born in one of the nation's prominent families but also would come to control a superpower that ranked within the planet top 3.

Lillian rushed to the table in her school uniform and sat down with vigor. She looked at Oswin with a pout. "I clearly remember you saying that you lacked money for a good gift for big brother."

Lilliana scrutinizes the going man with a questioning look. She clearly remembers letting her older brother take some of her allowances to buy a gift for Antione's birthday.

Oswin had told her that he run out after buying something for his girlfriend, Beatrice.

"Hehehe...well, I was going get something for our bro but I saw a car that I really liked." the purple-haired maniac laughed nervously as he felt a scary vibe coming from his mother who was glaring at him furiously.

"That's it! I'm done with your nonsensical expenditures. No allowance for 6 months." Alison ground her teeth, took a deep breath, and then relaxed.

She looked over at her husband who showed no interest in this family drama of his. he was too busy reading his documents with a deadpan expression.

The same deadpan expression with which Cynthia looked at Oswin. His face, which was currently twisted with not the pain from his head but his heart.

'6 months! My friends will roast me till I die of embarrassment.' Cynthia knew that these were exactly his thoughts at the moment.

A 20-years-old adult who does not care for work and only wants to live off his father's and brother's hard work.

She clapped inwardly for the actions of those around her. She hated this noise but it felt great when it hurt those she despised.

"Give me back my money back you liar," said Lilliana demanded with a cute expression as she picked up her bib and put it in place.

"You just heard mother! I will have no money for six months. Do you want me to sell my organs?" argued Oswin. He was starting to feel depression from suddenly being poor setting in.

"Just work like a big brother. Your organs arent worth much. Hmph." Lilliana had a good point. His organs held no value as they were just normal.

"You! How dare you insult my precious insides?!"The two quarreled as most siblings do. It was nothing like a fight and were just teasing each other. They meant no harm and cared much for each other.

Cynthia sighed as she looked at their harmonious relationship, she originally hoped for such a relationship when she first had moved here and met them.

All she was met with was scorn from Oswin, neglect from Antoine, and incompatibility from Lilliana. her father seldom talked to her either unless when she had done something wrong.

She never received praises from that man no matter how well she did in business and school. He said nothing when she left the house.

Antoine looked at his younger siblings with a chuckle. Before he could urge his father to stop his work and eat, his eyes wandered towards Cynthia.

He looked back and forth between his father and her and could not help but smile even wider.

'The same. That gaze and aura are indistinguishable. As much as I can see, she is very capable and I would never leave my siblings unguarded. What went wrong?'

Antoine had not found any leads yet as to how and why someone would harm her but he was determined to double her protection detail.

Little did he know, the problem was not something immediate and would be the result of events 20 years in the future. His ability didn't help much. 99% of the ability's effectiveness depended on his own capability to use.

"Dad, it seems that the time is ideal." He slowly directed his hand towards his father's laptop and closed it shut.

It might look rude but it was the only way to get the man to stop working. No one else was allowed to disturb Alexander's work except him.

Antoine was the only one here who knew the company as well as his father. He took care of matters well to make sure the company didn't need much attention from his dad.

"Indeed. Let's begin." Short and concise. Alexander never spoke more words than necessary. He then gestured for the tall, elegant, aged butler to begin serving them.

Alexander's personal butler is a man with silvery gray hair whose face looked toughened by the sun.

Mr. Gordon Miller is someone who was imposing like a general from the military as you could see the outline of his prominent muscles through the butler outfit. His piercing blue eyes also had the feeling of an eagle resting, waiting for its hunt to begin.

'Now that everyone has gathered, it is time for Act 1 to begin.' Cynthia and began eating quietly like the rest of the table.

Dinner was a tender steak from cows that are specially bred and raised on the other side of the planet. Each pound of the meat from it costs over $1,000 but that was nothing but leftovers on a golden plate called Duketh Group.

The appetizers and side dishes were nothing to look down on either but Cynthia was unfazed. She had plenty of meals like this right here in this house.

Cynthia then gazed over to one of the female servants and gestured and pointed towards a plate of gold and orange tinted mashed potatoes.

The servant complied with her request and placed a serving of the soft and fluffy mash potatoes on her plate.

Cynthia took a slice of her medium-rare steak, some asparagus, and mashed potatoes on her fork She then chewed it adequately before sending the food down her throat and en route to her stomach.

"KUEEK!" She suddenly coughed like someone punched her stomach. She started choking on her food and have trouble breathing as she tried to spit the food out.

Cynthia then stood up and lunged her body and head towards the table as she vomited out her breakfast. She then coughed some more before dramatically collapsing to the floor.

She lay there clutching her stomach as tears started to fall from her face. She showed a pitifully pained expression.

Everyone had stopped eating from the moment she vomited and now stood up and shocked for many reasons.

The servants were also unable to move from their spots as they didn't know what was wrong with the young miss and didn't want to unknowingly exacerbate her condition.

The young lady who had only shown a cold and deadpan expression for the past week and did not allow for many conversations was suddenly crying in pain but she still did not utter a single word to them for help.

The most startled here was Antoine as he remembered the message he had received from his future self. He made up his mind to check up on her in instant but was stopped dead in his tracks.

Cynthia's entire body was convulsing as if she was having a seizure.
