Sign the Contract

When he came to, it was another sunny morning at his secret villa. Dong Xu could scarcely recall what had occurred at the club. It was like someone had set a hard rock on his head and someone had wiped parts of his memories that night.

However, he was Dong Xu! Who had the guts to do that, and also, in that club where he was a Super VIP member!

He blinked his eyes and scouted the room. Whatever happened that night, he attributed it to Guan Ziming leaving his post. He would have called Ziming immediately and given him the strictest berating had he not realised the sleeping lass beside him.

Feng Yiren? What was she doing in his secret villa?

It didn't look good to him at first, considering he was out cold for so long. Goodness knows how many hours he was unconscious for him to even remember anything. But he would aptly hand over a reward in return for any method used to send the lamb into the tiger's den.

Guan Ziming, you've got yourself a brownie point, he figured to himself with a warm smile.

"Mr. Dong, are you all right?" Yiren surprised him by hovering over him suddenly. One moment she was sleeping, but she had woken up. She likely was a light sleeper, he realised. A concerned look filled her eyes.

What was with the formality? His eyes wandered to her slim figure. She casually dressed herself in a plain tee and jean shorts, and her innocent face was devoid of makeup.

Just the way he liked her the most. A Plain Jane, yet appealing in her own way. She didn't need makeup because beauty came from within. Though he didn't know her that well right now, there were plenty of chances for him to learn about his belle in the future.

"What happened?"

"You blacked out at the club," she answered, not bothering with any explanation. Her prompt response made him like her more. She didn't waste his time, unlike the other women he dealt with at work. Recalling how she often got tongue-tied and speechless the day they spent together at the hotel, he acknowledged that he had made progress with their relationship since then.

"Uh. Then?"

"Then you've been sleeping for three days and nights," she replied to him confidently.

"WHAATTT?" He jumped, almost crashing off his majestic spring-coiled bed in retaliation. "Just what in the world?"

"I thought so at first, but I don't have an explanation now."

"Why are you still here, then? Don't you have a university to go to?" He hounded her for an answer with his demanding meanie eyes. She stared at him, confused.

"Are you alright, Mr. Dong? You don't seem to be yourself right now." She even laid her hand on his forehead. "You don't seem to have a fever. And by the way, I'm off for the summer holidays now."

It frustrated him with the way she constantly addressed him by 'Mr. Dong'. Whenever Ziming did it, it was either sarcastically to tease him, and suffer terribly after that, or just in pretence as his 'assistant'. While Ziming was actually more than that.

"Call me Dong Xu!" He expressed irately.

"Dong Xu," she repeated bizarrely. It didn't seem right for her to be calling him that way. She was many years his junior. But it was his choice. The one and only time she had used this mode of address for him, it was because it had surprised her to run into him in the restaurant.

"Fine, fine, Dong Xu," she appeased him by catering to his request. "Are you in your right mind right now? Or do you need me to call a doctor?"

"Why?" He glared at her in annoyance, then realised what he was doing. With all the pain he was going through right now, he forgot to keep up with his act!

"Ah, you mean this." He spoke in an icy tone. "Is this what you are looking for, Feng Yiren?"

She rolled her eyes at him boldly. "You know, Dong Xu, you don't have to act so hard to appear cool in front of others. Even with your smiles, you are cool enough."

"Are you flattering me?"

"Definitely not!" Yiren argued. "I only say what I feel!"

So she was being brutally honest, but did she think he was cool? He let out a sarcastic laugh.

"Is this some kind of joke?" He picked up his cell phone, heavily encrypted. Her eyes bulged upon sight of the device. Not only was it an unreleased model, it was a one of a kind. It was a satellite phone, which one could make calls on a plane. It also had 20 gigabytes of RAM and owned a system of its own. It was a computer and a super smartphone rolled into one.

He knew what he needed to do to torment her. He chortled evilly, then spewed a very determined statement. It just took the right tone to scare her into submission.

"Now that you know the truth about me, I'm afraid I can't let you leave."

Had he stated this warmly and tenderly, it would be the most romantic line he had ever said.

But that was no fun, was it?

She trembled so hard that she fell to the floor.

"Mr. Dong Xu, don't kill me! I'll do anything. I promise to keep your secret and carry it to my grave! I'll never-"

Yiren hadn't completed her sentence when she realised the man was laughing. Getting up quickly, her cheeks were a deep tomato red. Her embarrassment was blatant in his eyes.

"Did you just say that you'll do anything?"

She slapped her hands over her flushed cheeks. It was too late for regrets now, Feng Yiren, he thought silently with a satisfied smirk.

Ziming had informed her about her finding three years too long a period for their contractual false marriage. She was to meet him to negotiate, and that was the reason for her emergence at the club. But because of unforeseen circumstances, luck had brought her to him.

And he would have a gamble at fate. While he didn't believe in fate or destiny, he found it a challenge to see where his choices would take him.

She nodded blankly. Apparently, she was a person of her word.

"I'll let you have your wish then," he grinned. She nodded again, mumbling 'thanks' under her breath. What she didn't know was how he had an unexplainably keen sense of hearing. Even he didn't know how he had that ability to hear clearly when someone mumbled or whispered inaudibly.

Seizing hold of a bedpost, he stood up. Whatever pain he had, he could tolerate it well enough to make it seem non-existent. Yiren hurriedly offered him her hand for support, but he ignored it and took some large strides across the room, with her following him.

He looked again towards the cowering young lady. Compared to his tallness, she appeared tiny with her bare feet. He lifted her chin, compelling her to stare back into his eyes. Her supernovas dazzled him beyond explanation. An average-looking girl with indescribable beauty turned out to have that power of seduction over him. He termed it 'natural beauty' and 'not acting'.

She had very admirable features, despite not being able to contend with renowned celebrities like Thalla Green, Su Xiaomei and many local celebrities. She didn't share their charisma, but that barely mattered to Dong Xu. He wanted her so badly that he would resort to teasing her, over all the fancy methods, to make her his. It was fun.

Without cutting eye contact, Dong Xu rasped, "Sign the contract."
