Chapter 139 - A Prolonged Alliance

The Emperor's attention got outside, where Nobuharu and his accomplices assembled outside for a private talk. He had begun to feel a little suspicious about them. What exactly were their motives for helping him take down Langford?

All he knew about Nobuharu's motives was that he was too ambitious for a prolonged alliance with him. This meant that he valued the same kind of things the Emperor valued as well (power and glory), and that made him dangerous.

But the chance of Nobuharu knowing the Princess's whereabouts was one he just couldn't pass up. Especially because he did not know the reason the Princess went on the Exodus from Langford but somehow knew that it was for a good reason.

But if Nobuharu and his men knew about this, he feared they might use it against him. Somehow, he felt like this was one of the times when the term "knowledge is power" would play out literally in reality. So he could not have Nobuharu know the things that he did not know.
