Chapter 169 - Painful Casualties

It was a long and strenuous battle keeping the bouncing fables at bay, but the people struggled, and eventually, the battle was won, but at the cost of a few casualties—casualties that most of the people present weren't yet aware of.

By the time all the tilapia were either incapacitated or slaughtered, the whole surface of the ship was covered in black blood and bore a foul smell.

It was unpleasant by every metric of perception, and everyone wished they were someplace else apart from the ship at that moment.

Captain Mako looked back at everyone, wanting to know who was alright and who wasn't. "Is everyone okay?" he asked, to the reply of too few people.

"Lady Maria?" he called the queen, and she came forth from behind Jin and Zaraki.

"Here I am," she replied, "I'm fine."

"Good," Mako commended before starting an informal roll call of the rest of his crew members to know who was alive, incapacitated, or dead.

"Zura?" he called out.
