Confusion

"They're siblings, and don't ask me how… because I don't know."

I saw Jay's eyes widen, and the confusion was clear on his face.

Jay's pov:

How are they even siblings? That doesn't make sense. If they're family, then why the hell is he living alone? Why is it just him and a few friends who show up every now and then?

The more I think about it, the more questions fill my head, and honestly, I'm too tired to figure anything out right now. There's definitely some family drama going on because there's simply no other way to explain this whole mess.

I was drowning in my own thoughts when I felt Jacob's eyes on me. He looked concerned, like he could tell my mind was somewhere else.

"Are you okay?" he asked softly.

"Yeah, I'm fine… it's just the match. Feeling a bit dizzy, that's all." I tried not to make it sound like a big deal, and luckily, he nodded like he bought it. After that, we slowly made our way out of the crowd all of us.

Later that evening, we ended up at a small restaurant nearby. Aidan was paying, so we had no reason to complain. Still, the atmosphere was weird Jacob and Sissel barely spoke a word to each other, and the silence between them was loud and made me a bit uneasy.

I couldn't stop glancing their way I needed to know what was going on.

Out of nowhere, Jacob asked, "So… how do you know each other?"

That caught me off guard. He's been to our place; he knows we're neighbors. Why act like he doesn't remember?

"They're our neighbors," I answered casually, trying not to sound confused. "And Sissel and Aidan are classmates."

The weird part was… Jacob seemed genuinely surprised. How the hell didn't he know that? I shot Aidan a glance, and from his expression, I knew he caught it too.

Aidan's pov:

I swear Jacob's question hit me out of nowhere. He's literally been to our house how is he asking this now?

I looked over at Jay, needing to check if I was the only one finding this strange. But no he looked just as confused as I felt.

And just when I thought the moment couldn't get weirder… Jacob turned to Sissel and asked what her major was.

What kind of siblings are they? Why on earth doesn't he know something as basic as that?

The craziest part was how casually Sissel answered him, like it wasn't weird at all. I swear I couldn't take it anymore the curiosity was driving me insane.

"Guys… can I ask how exactly are you siblings? Sorry, but I'm honestly confused." I blurted it all at once before anyone could stop me.

Jacob's pov:

I knew that question was coming I could feel it the moment Aidan opened his mouth. But even now, I'm not sure how to answer it right.

"We just don't live together. he wanted some independence," Sissel replied calmly like she'd practiced that line a thousand times.

For some reason, hearing her say that didn't sit right with me. It felt… wrong.

"Yeah… and to get away from a place that didn't feel right anymore," I added quickly, hoping that would be enough to shut them up.

I noticed Jay nod slowly, like he understood… or maybe like he'd been through something similar.
