Chapter 10

Neil's POV

I was in the office the next morning going through some documents, when the intercom buzzed quietly. Without taking my eyes away from the papers I was reading, I pressed the button and waited for the person at the other end to respond.

"Sir, Mr Williams is here to see you."

That statement certainly piqued my interest, and I turned my attention to the door.

"Let him in."

Mr Williams was my personal investigator. He was one of the few people I trusted not to report my activities to my grandfather. I hated the fact that he kept a tight leash on me and somehow knew every step I took. I have to hand it to him though, he is the reason why we have all this in the first place, his cunning and ruthless ways made everyone in the business world tremble at his presence even in that annoying wheel chair he definitely did not need. If i acted rashly, I knew he held the power to take everything from me but definitely not for long, I know he is using Miss. Winter in this game of his and I plan to beat him at it.

"Good day Mr. Thompson." Mr Williams stretched his hand out for a handshake which I accepted.

"Have a sit."

"Thank you."

"Do you have what I asked for?" He reached into his portfolio and pulled out a stack of papers.

"Yes, but you won't like it."

I gave him a stern look while reaching for the papers, "Why?"

"Well, it's either your grandfather has her information deeply buried or she is clean and clueless about what is happening around her."

I scanned the documents and was disappointed when I didn't see any useful information.

"Your grandfather must have definitely offered her some money, her father is in the hospital and her bills are piling up. For some weird reason the doctor in charge is helping her settle them."

I nodded at this information as I knew exactly why he was doing that, she would know that soon too.

" A gold digger then?"

" I don't really know, she's still in college and she's one of the recepients of your donation to the school. She has just a handful of friends and was recently fired from work."

Williams had just given a brief summary of what was already in the papers.

A soft knock interrupted my thoughts and I turned to look at the timid stature of my secretary enter the room. She looked like she wanted to be anywhere but here and that gave me some sort of satisfaction that no one could explain. I instilled fear in my employees and I love it because it makes them more productive and left little to no room for tardiness.

Although my father and grandfather had made a very successful chain of companies in different parts of the world, I desired to make it dominate the business world in fourteen or more countries.

I maintained professional relationship with each and everyone of my employees and never engaged the female ones in sexual relationship with me. A few had tried in the past and they were instantly fired. Now all the ladies knew to keep their distance away from me.

"Sorry to interrupt sir, here are the files you asked for." Stacey said quietly and reluctantly stepped forward to place them on my table. I inwardly smirked as I remembered the first week she had started working here.

She had walked into the interview room in clothes that molded her curves and confidently smiled at the interviewers before sitting down. She may have thought she got the job because I was sexually attracted to her which in a way I was, but Infact she got it because of her good grades, a degree from a prestigious institution, skills that would most definitely be useful and work experiences that looked impressive.

One evening, she had tried to take a step forward and I immediately held her against the wall, my hand wrapped around her throat as I whispered into her ear seductively.

"The next time you walk into the office dressed in clothes like these, you should be ready to turn in your resignation letter the next day."

I was quite surprised she didn't do just that the next day instead she wore proper work clothes and became very productive and useful, but then I found out my grandfather had something to do with it.

I reached for the said files and placed them onto the papers, so she couldn't glance at them. My grandfather is a smart man and I would not underestimate his capabilities.

"This one requires your signature sir, it's for the purchase of the materials for production."

I scanned through the file and signed on it before putting a stamp on the side and handing it back to her.

"And sir, you have a meeting with the Chinese business men in exactly one hour's time."

"I may be a little late for that, I would like to see my father at the senior center. Keep them comfortable until I arrive."

"Yes sir"

With a simple wave of my hand, she turned and scurried out of the room.

"Williams keep your eyes on my so called fiancee, I want to know even the littlest details and if you get your hands on any suspicious information let me know."

"Of course Mr Thompson."

"Here." I handed him an envelope with a thick wad of cash.

" Thank you, sir" He nodded at me before walking out of the room, while I hid the papers in a compartment. I grabbed my jacket and followed to pay dear old granddaddy a surprise visit.
