Lucas went through the entire history of Molly and concluded. "I don't think she will be getting any harsh punishment if she got a good lawyer."
[You are correct. But the character doesn't know about that.]
"So, you are telling me to take advantage of her situation." Lucas frowned.
[Before you reject, think carefully.]
Lucas gave it a thought. He went through many possibilities that might happen in the future.
[Think of yourself as an opportunist. There won't be anything that can harm her in any way. She is going to be part of your Empire after all. And even if you reject after getting selected by me her fate is sealed.]
'What does that mean?' Lucas asked feeling something was wrong.
[To generate the character profile, I make use of negative energy produced due to the character. I do not waste such energy. It will be now or in the future, she has to join you.]
*Takes a long breath pinching the bridge of his nose.*
'Let's do it then. I hope I won't regret this in the future.'
[Adding character profile successful.]
[Warning... I suggest making contact with the character as soon as possible. It will be hard to haul her to our side if we don't hurry. It will be a long time before you get a chance to roll the same character profile.]
"I have to call her right now." Lucas didn't see that coming, "The FBI is involved. What do you expect me to do?"
[I will handle everything. And you will use the system dialer.]
A green half-transparent dialing pad appeared in front of him. There were other options attached to the screen.
{Recording}
{Morphing}
{Conferencing}
[Setting a default morphing voice from the database… Morphing successful.]
Her contact number appeared on the screen, and the dialer tone started beeping.
[Just let me handle this thing. You need to watch and learn.]
'What?'
[If you started talking, you might wake up others in the house.]
'Alright.' Lucas growled.
"Hello!" A low female voice came from another side of the call.
[Hello! Miss. Bloom, I presume.] The voice nearly made Lucas jump from the couch.
'What the hell is with your voice? Didn't you find anything else?" The voice didn't feel like it could be from a human mouth, 'And least try to talk normally.' But the system didn't answer this time.
A good five seconds passed, and the female from the other side replied, "Yes, and who is this?"
[Miss. Bloom, who am I doesn't matter. What matters is the situation you are in.]
"Situation... I don't understand what you are talking about. I am a little busy so,..." the female tried to end the call.
[Miss. Bloom, don't be so hasty in shunning me. Maybe I can help you with your current predicament.]
"I don't need any help. I can handle things on my own." This time a resolute voice passed.
[I can't question how capable you are, Miss. Bloom. But do you think the FBI is after you for the gambling reasons only.]
'System, then what are they after?' Lucas waited for an answer in curiosity.
"Are you from Mafia or those underground mobs that tried to harass me before?"
[Ha... Ha... Ha... Miss. Bloom, Mafia, and Mobs won't touch the cases handled by the FBI, at least not for you. I am here to offer help.]
It was silent for another ten seconds.
"What do you want from me?" a plain voice asked.
[A small favor.]
"Favor?" a confused voice asked again.
[I have a job I want to hand in your capable hands.]
"A job. If it's something..."
[Don't worry, taking the job, you won't regret it. It's an opportunity for you as well. I can assure you, I will not ask you to do anything against your morales.]
"Alright. What do I have to do?" a low voice growled from another side of the call.
[Miss. Bloom, I will handle your issue first. And expect a call from me soon. Good night!]
The call disconnected.
[This is how you do it.]
"You look like a crime move fanatics."
[Thanks for the compliment.]
"Can you not talk the way you did before?"
[Sorry. I like it that way. It is so much fun.]
".."
[This job is a one-time thing due to Beginner's pack. In the future, you have to handle everything on your own.]
'Yeah... Yeah! I got it.' Turning the flashlight on, he walked towards his bedroom.
...
Delaware State
Molly was staying in the hotel. After getting bail, she decided to get help from one of the renowned lawyers. She was not going down without a fight.
Entering her room, she took a cold bath at first. It was already late, but the thoughts of her case did not let her fall asleep.
After past midnight her phone rang. 'Who is calling me at this time?'
Looking at the number, it was an unknown number. She didn't want to take the call at first, but eventually, Molly decided to take the call. "Hello!"
"Hello! Miss. Bloom, I presume." A deep breathy voice echoing through the phone speakers entered her ears. The phone nearly slipped from her hands due to the shock.
Since the other person mentioned her from the get-go, it was a call for her. She could tell the other person was hiding his voice. The person didn't call her for a good reason.
'Is there anything worse left in my life to happen?' she released a self-deprecating laugh and decided to reply.
"Yes, and who is this?" Molly asked.
"Miss. Bloom, who am I doesn't matter. What matters is the situation you are in."
Molly's heart skipped a beat, and she took a long breath.
Every fiber of her body and neurons of her brain were screaming to end the conversation. An unsettling feeling crept into her mind. She wasn't able to tell what it was.
"Situation... I don't understand what you are talking about. I am a little busy so,..." Molly decided to follow her instinct and end the call.
"Miss. Bloom, don't be so hasty in shunning me. Maybe I can help you with your current predicament." the voice said.
Molly didn't wait to think about what the voice said, "I don't need any help. I can handle things on my own."
She was ready to cancel the call, but the reply from the voice froze her in place, "I can't question how capable you are, Miss. Bloom. But do you think the FBI is after you for the gambling reasons only?"
Then it dawned upon her, the hard disk containing information of all the players. The players included high-level personnel from the society. It could ruin the lives of many people. And FBI was eyeing them.
Her breath hastened, and she started fidgeting, "Are you from Mafia or those underground mobs that tried to harass me before?" Molly asked, thinking it should be one of these parties trying to take advantage of her situation.
"Ha... Ha... Ha... Miss. Bloom, Mafia, and Mobs won't touch the cases handled by the FBI, at least not for you. I am here to offer help." Molly felt the laugh was questioning her intelligence.
'Was I wrong?' But what the voice said was also not wrong. Why would the criminals try to oppose the FBI without a strong motive?
Her palm was already sweaty, and her back felt a chill. She tried to console herself, 'Maybe I am just overthinking things. I also want to know how he is going to help me. I hope I won't regret it.' Maybe she was desperate to get back to normal life, but she continued to chat.
"What do you want from me?" she asked the question which was of importance to her. Nothing was free in the world, which she was aware of.
"A small favor." the voice answered.
She was expecting money or some shady job as an answer, "Favor?" she subconsciously answered.
"I have a job I want to hand in your capable hands." the voice said.
'There it is.' It was as she expected. She still replied, "A job. If it's something..." She felt it was her chance to end the conversation. She was cautious in case the voice was related to some criminal organization. She has come in contact with a fair number of crooks, gangs, and mafia. She didn't want to anger or associate with such parties.
The reply didn't end the conversation again. "Don't worry, taking the job... You won't regret it. It's an opportunity for you as well. I can assure you, I will not ask you to do anything against your morales."
Molly knew she had fallen into the pit already. Continuing the conversation, she hit the axe on her own feet. 'I won't regret it. I am already regretting the conversation.'
Taking the name of the god, she chose the positive answer, "Alright. What do I have to do?" a low voice left her mouth.
Maybe she was desperate to get out of the situation. She wanted to return to a normal life, but her past followed her closely behind.
She decided to let the time take its course and see what happens. She clenched her fist and tried to be calm.
"Miss. Bloom, I will handle your issue first. And expect a call from me soon. Good night!"
The call ended.
The final reply stumped Molly. With the phone still in her ear, she blinked at the wall continuously, waiting for the voice to give a reply.
Taking half-hour, she checked her phone again and again. The number of the voice had disappeared.
She took another cold bath. She knew she wasn't dreaming. But what happened to the number. Thinking it was some technology or hacker, she stopped thinking about the number.
Now, she had to wait for the voice to make another call. She didn't know how the voice was going to handle her case.
Molly couldn't rely on an unknown call to solve her problems. She still had to visit the lawyer in the morning.
Trying to put everything behind her head, she tried to get to sleep.
But the conversation with the voice kept playing on her mind.
'I should have ended the call in the very beginning. Maybe, I would have got another call again. That man knew about my case and probably about the hard disk as well.'
"What have I gotten myself into this time? It looks like there are still worse things left to happen in my life." She murmured, opening her eyes to stare at the ceiling under the faint light.
...
*Knock* *Knock*
The sound awakened Molly from sleep.
She didn't know when she fell asleep at night. But from the tiredness and backache, she could tell it was very late.
*knock* *knock*
"COMING"
Molly crawled from the bed and walked to open the door.
One wearing the black waistcoat was the hotel staff; another man was wearing a dark blue jacket with the FBI logo in front. 'Why is the FBI here again?'
"Miss. Bloom, I am here on behalf of the department to apologize to you. We found out there was no evidence to suspect you. It was a mistake from the department. Here is an apology letter from the department." The officer handed her an envelope, "And the department will be responsible for the expense of you staying at the hotel."
"Ok!" The news stupefied Molly to the point where she could utter only one word as she watches the officer leave with the hotel staff.
