Issue #9

None of the other Inhumans had tried to battle with Jack after he won his battles. 3 of their strongest royal guards had been killed effortlessly while Maximus was put down in a single blow. When Black Bolt and the others arrived the next morning, they saw most of the Inhumans kneeling toward the door of the throne room while Jack was holding Maximus next to the throne.

When he saw them walk in, Jack shot them a friendly smile. It made for an odd image due to holding a bloody person in one of his hands.

"I told you guys that I would be able to get you the throne back with only a small amount of bloodshed. Only 3 members have died."

Medusa looked around and nodded.

"Indeed you have. There have been... unexpected developments though. The Avengers have invited me, my husband, and Crystal to become members."

"Oh?"

Jack raised an eyebrow when he heard that. It was obvious that this was to try and secure a connection to the group but it may have also been due to their power.

Crystal had been able to keep up with and even outdo Johnny on the mission the day before while it took 4 of their members to take down a Black Bolt that wasn't able to use his full power.

'It actually makes perfect sense that they would want them to join up.'

There was one question he had to ask though.

"How are you going to remain as royalty of your people?"

"It's actually not that hard," Medusa responded. "This city is also capable of flight and travel. We plan to move it a bit outside of New York and stay there. That way we can both rule our people and integrate with humans."

Jack nodded when she said this. This would be a benefit to him and mutants as well if they didn't have to travel halfway around the world just to interact with them. Jack put out his hand to Black Bolt.

"Welcome to the Avengers, I guess."

-------

Jack flew back towards the Massachusets Academy after he had finished with the loose ends with the Inhumans. He wanted to give a report to Emma as well as see her. It had been a while since the two met.

When he got back to her home, it was still early in the morning so the blonde was sleeping. Not bothering to wake her up, Jack went to the kitchen and started making breakfast. Halfway through, Emma had walked out in a thin robe and sat at the bar while she watched him cook.

'Pizza and french toast once again. I think these are the only things he knows how to make.'

Emma let out a small giggle when she thought of this. The person that she considered as the mutant with the most potential could only make 2 dishes if his life depended on it.

Once breakfast was done, Jack served it and coffee to Emma before making himself a mug of hot cocoa. He also changed the scent on his body to emit a light lavender smell. With all of that prepared, the duo had a pleasant breakfast in silence as they enjoyed each other's company.

Once breakfast was over, Jack got down to business. He gave her updates on potential threats to her, the Hellfire Club, the X-Men, and the Brotherhood. He wanted to make sure that none of their potential allies or enemies were able to get taken by surprise without their knowledge.

After hearing all of this, Emma had a sly smile on her face

"Oh. If that's the case, that means that Shaw and Selene are already turning against each other. Both want Madripoor but neither is willing to give in to the other. I may have to pull out of the Hellfire Club and ally myself with another party soon. They are getting too messy."

Jack nodded and agreed with her on this.

"I think the same. I would say to ally with Xavier for now. You could even sign over the academy as a sign of good faith to Xavier.

Magneto is making too many enemies right now and needs some time to calm down. Once I get my own squad of Avengers next week, I will turn some attention to him personally."

"That's good, Jack," Emma quickly agreed. "So I'm guessing that they trust you if they are giving you this position."

Jack shook his head when she said this.

"Most of them do but there are still a few holdouts. Even if I am being genuine, they still wish to see the worst in someone."

Emma laughed when she heard the disappointment in Jack's voice. Even if he was cunning and would kill others, Jack still had a kind soul. This was why she trusted him so much.

"You know that's how people are. You know that's how even you are."

"Yeah, yeah," Jack waved his hand at her, not wanting to continue talking about this. Emma could tell so she deviated from the topic slightly

"You're going to be able to choose your own members, right? Any thoughts on who it should be?"

Jack shook his head then nodded before shaking once again

"I'm able to choose a few of the current members. The newer members will be added at random. As for who will be joining my squad, I figured I would have it be a bit fun. I was thinking about people with elemental powers like Cloak, Dagger, and Human Torch. Whoever else joins, joins."

"Hmm. Only choosing one pretty girl to join you?"

Jack shook his head dismissively at this. She had given an in-depth, psychic crash course on seduction and sex before he joined the Avengers but she was teasing him for using the knowledge she had provided him.

"I'm even into her like that. She is too... innocent? That seems like the best word. I like my women with danger to them."

Emma stood up and nodded

"I have a meeting to get to in a bit. You staying or heading back to the tower?"

Jack also stood up and stood next to Emma.

"I'm gonna head back to the tower. I've already been gone too long so they might think I was assassinated at this rate."

Emma nodded before reaching over and kissing Jack's chest subconsciously. She had always kissed his forehead after their training sessions when he was shorter than her but after his trip to Limbo, he had grown so much. When she realized her mistake Emma's face blushed.

This was the first time Jack had seen her blush. He tried to get out his phone to take a picture but by the time he was ready, she had already recovered.

"Tsk!"

Jack kissed Emma on her forehead like she was trying to do with him before he began floating and flew outside the window, back to the tower.
