Issue #6

The flight from Latveria to New York lasted about 8 hours. So even though they left at 10 am, the trio arrived around 1 pm. When they landed, there were several police vehicles waiting for them right outside of their plane as well as a small crowd of reporters.

Doom(bot) walked down the stairs of the plane first with Jack and Valeria right behind him. Many of the reporters had their photographers take photos of this scene because it was rare that Doom(bot) would allow anyone near him.

For a little girl and the hottest young hero in the Avengers to both be on the same flight as Doom(bot) made many of those present have their imaginations go wild.

'Is that girl his daughter?'

'I wonder if Doom is trying to pull heroes to his side and create his own national team.'

'That girl should be the daughter of Reed and Susan Richards. Is there some hidden story where Doom got involved?'

No matter what anyone thought, they did not dare to ask those questions to Doom directly when they conducted the interviews. Most just asked about things like 'when the travel restrictions to Latveria would be lifted' or 'the intense diplomatic relations between Latveria and Wakanada'.

After answering a few questions, Doom(bot), Valeria, and Jack departed for Times Square where he would be hosting his press conference. As they arrived, there were already a couple of hundred people present at the temporary seating area.

This press conference was for Doom announcing his cooperation with the United States by creating several satellites that could be used as an early warning system against extraterrestrial invaders.

It was actually nothing too important and something that Doom could have announced from Latveria. But he wanted to use it as a chance to draw out those that had opposed him or harbored bad intentions against him.

Jack was also hoping that a few idiots would show up so he could let out some stress on their bodies.

Unfortunately for Doom and Jack, no one showed up and the press conference ended without issue. Valeria was picked up by Sue after the conference before Jack escorted Doom(bot) back to the airport where he watched the place take off.

Once it was gone, Jack returned to Avengers Tower. He held a meeting with all of his squadmates to debrief them on the short mission. No one had anything to really say since nothing happened so the meeting barely lasted 10 minutes.

Jack then went back to his room to write up his report. Since he met up with Doom a day earlier, Jack had to make up all the parts for what happened the day prior.

He couldn't say in an official report he nearly killed Doom for the favor of a child before conspiring with him about reforming a secret group.

After finishing his report, Jack sent it over to Captain America for review. Sitting in his chair, Jack leaned his head back and stared at the ceiling above him.

'Adrienne and Cordellia. If I deal with them, I will be getting on Emma's bad side. If I don't, it will leave a bad taste in my mouth. So no matter which I choose, I will be screwed.'

"Ugh," Jack groaned in the empty room as a headache was coming on. Even with his mind that was capable of simultaneously processing dozens or even over a hundred thoughts at once was unable to think of which was the best way to solve this problem.

So instead of thinking about it himself, he planned to go to the other people involved in this situation and get their opinions.

After changing into some casual civilian clothes, Jack left the tower and went to New York Unity, one of the best hospitals in the city. He then went to the gift shop and bought some flowers and a bear before heading up to the 15th floor where the VIP patients were kept.

Jack knocked on the door and heard a 'come in' before he opened the door to the room.

Jack walked into room 6 where he saw Christian laying in bed with one of his legs elevated. The leg was in a cast while plenty of his body that was supposed to be visible was covered in bandages and gauses.

Seeing who it was, Christian smiled brightly at his visitor.

"Jack! Been a while since we have seen each other. I would get up to greet you but..." he trailed off gesturing to his leg

Jack gave him a half-hearted smile at the joke but seeing Christian in this state, his fury towards the two women had reignited.

"Hmm. I heard about what happened. I also heard about who did it," Jack got straight to the point

The smile on Christian's face dimmed when he heard this.

'I should have known he would find out.'

"Does Emma know? Is she the one who told you?" Christian asked, worried that his sister would act out against the other two

"She knows but she didn't tell me directly. She said that Adrienne and Cordellia crossed a line this time. I found out everything else on my own," Jack admitted to the young man

Christian wasn't sure this made him feel better or worse. Jack and Emma both knew the truth of the incident and were worried about him but he was worried about how they would react.

"And now you're here to get my blessing?" Chrisitan asked already knowing the answer. "Don't look at me like that. Emma looks at me like that too when she plans on doing something bad for my sake.

But if you do it, it won't be for my sake or Emma's. It will be you want to hurt someone that hurt the people close to you. And I won't give you my blessing for that."

Jack started to chuckle to himself when he heard Christian's words. He knew they were true. And he knew that was what the man would say before he had even come here.

Christian was a kind and foolish man but was also wise. Christian could understand everything that was going on around him but was constantly hoping for the best to occur.

"But they haven't just done this to you. Over the past 3 years, they have tried to kill Emma over 200 times. That's a little more than once a week. I can stop if you want me to. But I need to take them down for what they tried to do to her," Jack tried to explain himself

"That's still just for you. Emma hasn't asked for your help. We both know that she is stubborn and refuses to ask for help most of the time but there is a difference between her needing and not needing help.

And we both know Emma is more than capable of fighting her own battles 99% of the time. You just need to wait around for that 1% when she is being truly stubborn to help her."
