Ancient Daggers

The devil's ashes disappeared in the wind. Now all that remains among them is sweat and irregular breathing. JoydaG noticed the ancient dagger in her palm. Nija took notice and was pleased with their success.

"I think that monster underestimated us a lot earlier," Nija said, still can't breathe normally.

Nija thought of his other friends. He ran to one of them, squatted on one side, and checked their condition.

"Where did you get that thing?" asked Madhu to JoydaG as he wiping blood off his face with the back of his hand.

JoydaG did not answer his question. She hid the dagger back inside the boot of her shoe.

"Hey! answer my question where did you get that thing from!"

JoydaG stood calm and then replied, "Bibi. She gave it to me," she said. Both eyes looked at Madhu.

"We'll discuss that later! Help them first! Still alive!" Nija's shout.

Madhu forgets what the importance of knowing the ownership of joydaG's ancient dagger is for awhile. He immediately checked their colleagues.

"They are also still alive," said Madhu, who has examined two people.

"Two people here are dead," JoydaG said. She saw that their necks were already torn. Their faces were pale and there was a scent of sulfur from the scar.

Nija and Madhu clucked. Nija took the smartphone out of his pocket.

"I'll report to the headquarters, the survivors should get treatment immediately," just as Nija finished saying it, a person who was near his feet woke up suddenly. He was confused and fingered his whole body. When he knew he was okay, he let out a long sigh. Nija patted him on the shoulder.

"Nija!" He exclaimed happily as he realized who was beside him. "You guys successfully returned it?"

That person was the one who sent the message from the seventh layer to Nija.

"We didn't return it, but kill it."

"What?!"

"We'll discuss it later. Now help me contact the head office, the others are seriously injured, must be treated immediately," Nija said quickly mastering the situation.

That person immediately followed Nija's instructions. JoydaG and Madhu just sat not far between the deceased and the surviving victims.

Madhu stared fixedly at the boots where the ancient dagger was stored at JoydaG's feet.

"Have you reported it to Mantis?" Madhu asked.

"No. This was a secret," JoydaG replied without trying to cover up her decision to break the rules.

"You know where Bibi got it from?"

"She said from Papua New Guinea. When she served there, she got it from indigenous elders as a weapon. She successfully eliminated a demon dog with this dagger."

"So you already know its origin and function?"

"A little bit. Do you know?"

They were finally able to talk quietly, said Nija to himself. He had just finished contacting the head office and sitting quietly waiting for the arrival of the medical team. He was happy to observe that his two colleagues, who had rarely spoken in a meek tone, began to be able to speak softly.

"I know very little too," Madhu said. His memory of heading somewhere, he went on to say, "Ancient fighters in Papua New Guinea used to use the dagger to kill their opponents in an instant. You do this by pointing the dagger at the opponent's neck, exactly like you did. The dagger was made from animal bones or human bones. Daggers made from human bones will be stronger and most effective for getting rid of demons. Did Bibi teach you how to wear it?"

"No."

The short answer made Madhu drizzle.

"Then that one just now... How can you use it without practicing mastering it?"

"All this time I used a knife as the main weapon. It makes no difference," JoydaG said.

Madhu was still tired so he didn't provoke any other quarrels. He just said, "I saw that the dagger you have is made of human leg bones."

"Where did you know?" JoydaG is now paying full attention to Madhu, no longer just listening as before.

"Just from the aura. They must have chosen from their customary patron elders. That person was also born as an exorcist or a half demon because of that the indigenous children left behind by him used his bones, turned into weapons to protect them," Madhu's words were wrapped in a sense of horror, understanding the custom, and also concerned about humanity.

"That thing wouldn't serve as an exorcist if the wearer didn't have such a spiritual talent."

JoydaG fingered the dagger hidden behind her boots. After hearing the remarks from Madhu, she felt that Bibi had given her an invincible weapon. She felt that her job would be easier from now on.

"If you don't believe in the information I just gave, you can go there yourself and ask the traditional elders who now have no exorcist ability. I can tell you because I've lived there for a long time, there are a few daggers still stored there, it's just one of them, so you can compare them," Madhu said with some annoyance that his long sentence was responded to with only a stiff facial expression from JoydaG. He ended the conversation by closing his eyes. He said inwardly to himself, I hope she can use it better than just now. That could make the job easier going forward.

The medical team arrived fifteen minutes later. They immediately transported the injured corpses and Drafts on a stretcher. They did not treat the wounded on the spot. That would raise questions of citizens who could see their activities. They immediately took both the wounded and the dead to the headquarters.

JoydaG, Madhu, and Nija attended the cremation ceremony of their dead comrades. In addition to the two people who were with them, there were ten other people on duty at level one to level six.

After the cremation ceremony, JoydaG, Madhu, and Nija were each called by the check up officer of the incident. They have to make a report. The report should contain a description of the enemy they faced and how they solved it. JoydaG chose not to report on her ancient dagger. There was a reason why she didn't. She thought maybe Madhu and Nija told them.

How about just gambling? Let's bet on whether or not they can trust me to keep this secret. I did this because I thought inside the organization there was an intruder or worse a traitor. I'll find that person, Bibi I'll find that person, said JoydaG softly to herself.

Imagined back in JoydaG's eyes when Bibi met her a few hours before her flight to Switzerland. Bibi said she would take a long vacation with Elia, but she couldn't stop thinking there was a chance that something bad would happen to them, so that time Bibi gave her her dagger and smartphone. That day, Bibi also said very clumsy things, not entering in reason.

"Elia contacted Mantis to kill me, so give this to Max or Melianor. There are many things they should know if I die or disappear. Do you understand?" Bibi said so with a worried look on her face.

There was no sadness but worry that JoydaG could not imagine. What is it?
