The moment I woke up myself after a long darkness surrounding me are an unknown man wearing strange attire under the bright light from the ceilings. I could feel the bandage's over my head after feelling a slight pain coming from it.

It took me quite sometimes to digest what I witness because of the headache; given the fact that this situation is far different from the last time I remembered which was protecting my lord from the devil attack inside the palace wall.

"Hello Anne, could you hear me and tell how much my hand is?"

The man with white coat and strange tools said as he lift four of his right finger on the air, while his other hand checking my heavy eyes.

I cant struggling against him for how weak my body felt like, I let him did what he had. Although, I dont understand why he keep checking my chest with a strange tools that connected to his ears.

"...??"

I titled my head at his hand movement that keep moving; giving a cold sensation on my skin, then he began to point a strange tools which was producing a ray of light into my hazy eyes.

It was strange stick, is he a mage ? but the wand itself didn't have its characteristic nor I could feel the spiritual energy from it.

"It's seem, she's a bit dizzy after unconscious for quite sometimes. Please, could you call his parents outside, Mrs. Catherine."

"Please wait a moment, Doctor Lang."

The woman left the room, leaving the man in coat checking my hand and another sign of injury. A slight bruise on my hand and foot, probably caused by a blunt weapon or something similar.

My burning throat and strangely weak body make me unable to move rashly, I could only deduce that I was bedridden inside a strange ward and the man who check on my body is probably a physician. As for who the man is, he might be a benefactor who helped me.

Moreover, the biggest concern i've paced now was the fact that My hand and entire being has shrunk into a kids around five years old.

'Just what in the world happening to me?

I was silent even after I saw a middle-aged man and woman in strange attire came inside the room, The man had a neat and calm appearance when I made an eye-contact with him; I saw concern inside that aloof look.

While the woman is approaching to my side with her worried face. The man stood silent whilst facing the man in white attire.

"How's my daughter condition?" the middle-age man asks.

"She has been stabilized, we just need to monitor her condition in case she lose consciousness again. But she didnt respond to my question, I'm afraid we need to check her more thoroughly."

The man in coat seemingly tried to explain something to the middle-aged man who looking at a woman who caressing my hair as if i was her children.

"How are you feeling? does it still hurt?"

The woman talks, showing a worried face. almost like a her own mother before who loved her fine.

Long time ago, her own mother sold her into a wealthy household; to work as a servant at the noble-man house. If not for the young master who recognizes her talent, she would have become a mere maid inside that mansion.

She was an ordinary, a common face among villagers a young woman except her unusual talent.

But that's what makes her late days as a retired knight in constant turmoil.

She oftens teached her former league childrens as their father constantly egged her to get married.

Even if they get beaten black and blue, their tenacious heart still wont stop to shove the dog shit into a single dog like her.

It makes me utterly jealous, but then I couldn't do anything about it except for accepting that lonely life.

"Doctor, Are you sure? ... my child seems uncomfortable..."

"Well... Anne, do you remember what happened?"

The man in white clothes spoke again; he looked like trying to asks me something.

Can I just speak? because keep silent wont solve my whereabouts, and judging from their appearance; they looked like a good person.

"Qilóni issi ao? (who are you?)" I asked, talking in common imperial language with a broken voice.

"What...? Could you speak once more?"

"Nyke dont Shifang... (I dont understand...)" I replied back to the unknown words they spoke of.

"Doctor!" With a pale face, the woman tightly griping my hand.

I could tell that she was terriefied, maybe this child body is her own relatives or something similar. Should I stop using my mother tongue as not to arise any more suspicion than necessary ?

They seem doesn't understand at all.

"Calm down, Ma'am. Anne, could you tell what number it is?" The doctor then pointing two finger at her.

Should I just tried to repeat what he's saying?

"Anne, wha-t it...is?" following the man words, I tried to be as puzzle as possible. Suprisingly, the words felt foreign when it comes out from my own mouth. Well, I didn't have to work on it so much since this whole situation are absolutely strange.

"Do you have her favorite things, Mrs. Carol?" The doctor asked Mrs. Caroline which was the mother of the child.

"I think i bring it here, wait for a moment doctor." She replied while rummaging inside her expensive bag and taking out a brown teddy doll.

The doctor then hold the doll, showing it to me who still laying on the soft bed without changing my position.

"Don't you know what is this?"

I don't know what he expect me to say about that brown thing.

"...."

"This is your favorite doll, your bestfriend?"

"... Friend?" I spoke again, repeating the last word from him. as I could deduct from this, the physician might be showing this child her favorite things.

A little bit peculiar indeed, the form and shaped were cute and somehow a little bit similar with a bear cub that I saw once on an expedition.

But what she expect, I didnt know that thing.

By the way, I saw the physician sombre look as he faced the middle-aged woman. It would be a lie that i'm not curious to what their conversation is.

"I'm afraid that she has amnesia in which often caused by trauma's or brain injury; making her unable to recognize words and fail to remember herself... Maybe, the accident shocked her young mind and it shuts itself as a self-defense mechanism."

Even if I tried to listen, I don't understand what they're talking about. Its better to heard it as a stranger conversation.

"Can it get cured?"

"I'm not sure, but we can try as long as there's possibility. But it might be a good thing for her to forgets, and live on without trauma's as she's young and fragile."

"What should i do now, doctor?"

"I think madam should let her re-learn how to speak and write again and get to know each other so that she recognizes madam as her own mother. This might be a good thing for her amnesia."

Moreover, I want to know what happen to me... because I was surely died at that time. Did goddess bring me alive? or do I in an under insanely high illusion spell by the devil?

and I want to know where or who I am... This child is too young for my own age who pass thirty years old.

I stare blankly at the white ceiling then to the transparent windows. At first, I didn't realize how starkly different this place until I saw the sceneries outside.

Strange building without much forest as far as my eyes could reach. A lack of spiritual energy on the air, and also their strange clothes felt very foreign.

"Anne...." A hoarse voice of a woman pulled me back from the daze. she rubs my head affectionaly with reddened eyes.

What is 'Anne' mean? is it my name or what?

I look at her strangely, but she was sad and its making me somewhat uncomfortable. Like a feeling that comes from something but I don't know what it was.

"Don't worry, you're safe here. You'll get better in no time."

She said with small smile, wiping the unshed tears. I took her words as is she was comforting my loss from the alienated feeling caused by this novel experience.

"You should rest again..." She added, while rubbing the heavy eyelids of mine.

The dizzying pain is still there as it took quite some energy and sheer power to digest all the unfamiliar surrounding into my perception.

Resigned to the sleepiness, I close my eyes and with it... all the noises began to slowly dissipates.

***

There's no such a light inside the darkness, the echoing voices come from my own. A void where I came trough before I could blink on that strange world.

It feels like centuries, as the time flows slowly and painfully still without no ones company.

A same dream everyday I had after waking up in the morning, hoping that the world would magically changed back to what I've once seen.

But its all only a vain hope, of I...

"Sing after me, Anne... its A' B' C' ... V' W' X Y' and Z~''

"A' B' C' ... V' W' X Y' and Z~''

"Good, you're doing great Anne! and it's time to check your workbook."

"Okay, sister!"

Whom currently sat on the hospital bed learning how to speak and write. The childish and sweet voice coupled with adorable appearance of mine could make those damn collague of mine collapsed in a second.

In addition, It's been two days since I learned how to implementing what I learned on every possible situation. If not for my needs of urgency to go to the toilet that rushed me, I'll probably procrastinated everyday.

I was lost last time when walking around the hospital, and couldn't ask for a way back to my room if not the nurse who look for my whereabouts by looking through Cctv. although I don't know what it was, at that time I felt helpless because of the language barrier.

What can five years old kid can do? aside from crying?

At that time I vowed to spend my time practicing the greetings and some important question for beginner.

Like 'Thank you', 'What's your name?', or where is the addess of my house ?, and also who is my parents?. All basic questions information about my curent identity.

I was called Annelise Covhen, quite lovely names for a five years old kid. She and I didn't share a same name. Even her face far more beautiful compared to the old me. Cute pink lips, white and soft skins, straight-black hair, almond shaped eyes with seagreen eye color; shocked me when I look my self on the mirror.

Colorfull eye are common in the empire, except for red eyes and black eyes. While in here, I could only see people with same black hair and brown hair. Occasionaly a blonde hair but with the same eye color which is mainly black and brown.

They're patients I met on the corridor when I roam around the surrounding area.

The man whom I met after waking up are called doctor, and he's currently talking with my parents outside the patients room.

My mother name was Catherine Magrave, and my father name was Samuel Covhen. Both of them has an elegant bearing compared to other people, something that piqued my interest about their background.

But its a hassle to asking it now, rather than that ... the black box attached to the wall gave me a shock as it play some kind entertainment and sometimes only keep talking while showing some accident.

Of course, I don't know what are they talking. That's why I need dictionary to look for it. Thankfully, I'm not that stupid at learning... or maybe because the body is young that my learning pace improved ?

"Well, Anne is diligent. You did well on writing, there's no homework for tomorrow... just practice reading again, alright. Sister job is done for today, see you again Ann."

"Thank you Sister Mary, see you again." I waved at my designed tutor as she ruffled my hair and left the room.

"Mr., and Mrs. Covhen today's as well, Anne progress in recognizing words are steady also her way of talking is getting better now. Mr., and Mrs. Covhen only needs to keep talking with her on every occasion."

"Thank you Tutor Mary, I'll keep that on my mind. Be carefull on your way home."

"I will, excuse me Mr., and Mrs. Covhen."

Tutor Mary left the corridor after saying greetings to the couple.

"Anne could be discharged tomorrow, and for further medical check-ups could be done monthly or whenever Anne began to regain her memory. I didn't see more problem except for her memory, her intellectual isn't affected and her strange behaviour might be caused by the loss memory. As a child, she might be wary to everyone because of her inability to recognize the other person. I hope the two of you could help her and understand it."

"We will doctor, Thank you for the advice." Mr. Samuel Covhen answered with a sad look. Although he's aloof, Samuel loved his children as well as Catherine.

He felt responsible for what happened to their youngest daughter. The kidnapping itself caused by a new nanny, as their previous nanny retired because of old age.

Thankfully, the police found the lead. If's not, their lovely daughter might be forever lost without seeing the sunlight again.
