A New World

[Woah there, you got a…..]

"So what did I get?"

[You got the ability, "Immortal Soul"]

"Huh? What kind of power is that? I mean, it has the word 'Immortal' in it so I guess I won't have to be afraid to die. Can you explain the ability?"

[Request Accepted. The ability named "Immortal Soul" is essentially the ability to forcibly move your soul to the nearest dead body it can find. If your body dies from any physical or magical damage that does not damage or entrap the soul in the body, the soul will forcibly remove itself from the dead body and travel itself to the nearest dead body available, even if it's thousands of miles away. However, you cannot transfer your soul with the powers that you've acquired throughout your journey. So the attribute points and cheat powers that you have at the start, will be transferred along with your soul, however, any attribute points and levels that you've acquired after the start, will be gone and reset. Essentially, you can think of it as dying in a game and losing all of your progress, still able to start a new game with 0 progress, other than the powers from the start. Do you understand?]

"Uhh, yes. I technically understand it. So basically, it's like possessing someone else's dead body right?'

[Yes]

"But what happens if the nearest dead body is a skeleton or only just a few bones?"

[The bones will be recovered to make the whole skeleton, which will then proceed with regeneration of the skin and muscles.]

"Ohh, so basically you become a zombie?"

[Incorrect, the body you possess would regenerate their organs, blood, muscles and skin. It will eventually look as if it was a normal person.]

"Ooh, so when I regenerate it, I wouldn't look like a zombie. More like just a normal person. Oooh okk, that's interesting. But wait, what happens if we die the moment we transfer to a new body and the nearest body is the body that I was in before?"

[A previously possessed body won't be able to be possessed again. So your soul will go to the next nearest body that hasn't been previously possessed.]

"Ooh ok. I think I understand it pretty well now. Can I get out and start adventuring now?"

[Not quite yet, Traveller. We still haven't rolled for the sh*t skill!]

"Aaah yeah, forgot about that. Alright then, let's go."

[Yes]

*roll*

*ding*

[Uh oh, your sh*t skill is, "10% for Half Efficiency"]

"I mean, I was going to guess sh*t skills were going to be something like not being able to use magic or only able to walk at the speed of a baby. What's the consequences of this sh*t skill? I mean, I can guess that there's a 10% chance that the skill is going to only be half efficient, guessing from the title. But I need an explanation on what would be half efficient."

[Understood. Everytime your soul travels to another body, there is a 10% chance that it will only work half as efficiently. The soul would still travel outside the body the moment it dies, however it would detect the body that is closest to death, instead of already dead. This means that the dead body's soul might still be present in the body, leaving both the body's soul and your soul in one body. However, due to the fact that when your soul possesses other bodies, it heals completely. So the body, which was nearly dead, is now fully healed. So unless the body dies again, both of the souls will be trapped in one body.]

"Wait what…ok then. So if there's 2 souls in one body, that essentially means that there's like 2 controls for the body right?"

[Yes]

"So who will be in control if there are 2 bodies?"

[...There is no information in my database that can answer your question. I am sorry]

"Waitup, does that mean that I'm a special case? Like I'm the first one to get this combination?"

[No, you are not the first. There were 2 other travellers who got the same combination. There is one way to stop your soul from travelling to another dead body. That is to willingly kill yourself and let your soul dissipate and become one with the universe. The other 2 travellers who have gotten to the stage of double souls killed themselves due to the damage of experiencing multiple deaths have on their mental health, is what is assumed. In truth, the 2 travellers killed themselves before the system could analyse the result of the event.]

"Ohh ok then, that's pretty dark. I was worried about that. Because one of the downsides of being immortal is that you're not able to die, even if you wanted to. So if I have that option ready to go, then that's good. Though I am a bit afraid of that story. What made them kill themselves?"

[Great! We shall now proceed with exiting you from the summoning medium. Do you have any questions before we go?]

"Umm, I have 2 questions."

[Ask away, Traveller.]

"First, can I transfer my soul to an animal body?"

[A being that gives experience when you defeat it classifies as a Monster. There is no such thing as an animal in this world. You can choose that choice during the transfer. A screen similar to this will appear in front of you after the death asking, "Monster or Race". You can choose 'Race' in which your soul will transfer itself to the nearest dead body of one of the races. This choice includes humans, elves, giants, etc. You can also 'Monster' which will transfer you into a monster's body. You can specifically choose which specific race or animal you want to transfer to, however, be quick because you only have 5 seconds to choose before it forcibly chooses the previous body's data. However, you are not able to transfer your soul into a mythical beast's body.]

"Ok ok ok ok. That makes this ability even more interesting. So last question, will you join me during my adventures? Like, will you, the system be by my side, feeding me information and all that stuff and answering the questions I have."

[...Yes. Although the 'System' that you are talking to right now, is made to work for other travellers, other than yourself. A multi being'ed entity is what I am. Essentially, I am a multiplayer system that is made to assist every traveller, like yourself.]

"Ah, I see. Well then, should we exit now?"

[Yes, that is most preferable]

"But like, how do we exit?"

[Through the exit]

As the boy stares at the blue board with a face that says, "bruh, that's obvious. I meant like where is the exit. Are you a dumb*ss or something?", a bridge that suddenly grew from the ground made a pathway. The boy, naturally thinking that the exit was actually hidden behind the image of a wall, walks towards the wall with confidence.

"Let's go, to another world!"

As the boy says his cool line, his body and face hits the wall and stumbles back in pain. His eyes, now full of water, can barely see anything. When he looks around his back and continues to stumble, he barely sees a large portion of his view, blinded by a bright white light, in the shape of a door. He stumbles into the light door and closes his eyes due to the overbearing light. He quickly puts one of his feet into the light door so as to not fall, however, he did not feel a floor. Because of physics, his whole body followed his leg and went through the light door. He feels as though he's falling and his body can feel the overwhelming pressure of air pushing up against him as he falls.

"WTF IS GOING OOOON, I CAN'T SEE AND I'M FALLING. WHY DID THE STORY START LIKE THIIIS"

The boy eyes, still full of water, can't be opened because of the bright light, his nose and body still feels the pain from slamming itself to the wall coupled with the shock and fear of not feeling a solid floor on a step he can't see, equals to one of the worst experiences you can ever experience. As the boy's eyes start to dry up, he slowly opens his eyes. He sees a bright circle and a blue background behind it. He looks to the side, as to avoid the light, and sees a large forest covering even further than his view. He looks at the amazing view of the forest and sky from above and realises his situation.

"WHY THE HELL DID I GET SUMMONED TEN THOUSAND FEET UP THE SKY?"

To be continued…when he lives or dies from the fall.
