Oh, Reaper

I guess I still have to find a place to stay for the night. I stood up to head for the village but was halted instantly as a sound broke the gentle wind. Another warning flashed up on my vision and I readied my blade. But to my pleasant surprise, I saw a young man walking out of the dense forest.

He was tall and skinny but had slightly broader shoulders than Raiyen. His hair was short and black, with slight green tips. He wore a black vest with a white inner shirt, paired with black pants. To sum up his outfit, he adorned a long black coat on his shoulders.

If he was wearing such formal attire, then he shouldn't be engaging in any fights... Right? But then again, his power was still unknown to me. Maybe he didn't need to move around so much to deal damage. Once he was out of the cover of the trees, he opened his eyes, revealing two black orbs.

He blinked and his eyes changed to gold for a second before going back to black. What a way to show that he wasn't human to an enemy. His Aura was on flare as he spun his weapon in the air, a golden blanket with a white hue.

His complexion was as pale as a ghost and I questioned why are all the characters I've met so pasty white? He didn't have his weapon pointed at me so I kept my longsword. Hell, his weapon might be the coolest thing I have ever seen.

The weapon he held was a pair of scythes connected by a black metal chain. The scythes seemed sharp and the blades were tinted gold. The handles were black. He rested the chain on his neck and shoulders. His left hand was busy swinging one of the scythes in circles.

He broke into a smile and tilted his head in an upwards nod to me.

"Yo. You new here?" asked the unknown male.

I nodded as my cheeks flushed. But I wasn't embarrassed or taken aback by his looks or built. I was ogling his weapons. I've always wanted a weapon like that. Throughout my sword-fighting days, I've always loved to use twin weaponry.

Two swords, two daggers, two rapiers... And seeing scythes that cool was just a snack to my eyes. No, it wasn't looking like 'just a snack'. It was looking like a whole meal!

"Are you lost, by any chance? I could take you to the nearest village to rest. I can't take you back to where I stay but I can show you an empty place to rest. If you are a Mage, it's best to isolate yourself from the village first."

"They don't recognize any Mage who isn't acquainted with the Arks or Lady Roydon," offered the Mage, as he was just a meter away from me.

Lady Roydon? Wait, that was the Valkyrie's surname. I took out the feather that Mavislin gave me, inwardly thanking myself for not fusing it with the longsword yet. The man widened his eyes and blinked a few times before bowing slightly.

"I understand your situation. It's still your choice to stay in the village or you can follow me to an isolated house next to the village. If you are wary of me, you can always run into the village to call for help," replied the young man.

My Magecraft was all over the place and I had never been one to be with other people. Sure, I'd love to be invited to parties but I was trying too hard to fit in back then. It's only after dying alone that I realized I wanted to be by myself.

And I could polish my blade without anyone asking about my hobbies in life. God, how I wished I could have an isolated place to sharpen my blades without guys trying to take a peek at my cleavage. I hated those people, always trying to see me like a doll rather than a person.

"I'd take the chance and follow you to that isolated place. However, I will not require any help from humans or other Mages if you attack me," I agreed, extending my hand out.

"Of course, seeing that you could wound my fellow Spearman earlier. I'd better not cross blades with you, or else I might lose my life," joked the man, grabbing my hand to shake.

"Fellow... Spearman? Are you close with that Lancer?" I questioned, recalling how powerful and skilled Mage was.

Comparing all of my opponents' Hostility Levels for the whole day, that Flower Mage was the highest. Hell, her level of wanting to behead me was higher than the Corrupted creatures. And until now, I haven't the faintest idea on why she wanted to destroy me so bad.
