Living Hope

"Well, I was pleasantly surprised that you kept going for my weak points. Yet, I didn't feel any bloodlust as you did so. You may be fitting as a member of the Vigilante, but your decision is with us instead. I wonder why would that be the case, other than the good pay."

Ah, he had just answered the question he gave me. I'm indeed accepting to be in her Ark for the pay, but there's another reason as well. My fighting style. After realizing that I love to switch between hand-to-hand and sword fighting, I knew I couldn't stick with one form.

And only Mavislin would allow her members to have the freedom to choose. And with fighting the few of them these past two days, I've realized how different the three of them are in fighting. I can't say too much for Mavislin herself, but her bloodlust was quite strong.

Bloodlust was a term that I used to determine if my opponent wanted to kill me. It's different from the realm's Hostility Levels since it is based on if the opponent likes me or not. Like, I sensed high levels of bloodlust in Rina as she attacked me. But, for Mavislin, it's only during the day, in that kick.

However, after the first kick, I could not sense any bloodlust from sparring with Bryan or NMavislin. And it was even scarier for Bryan's case since he was attacking me ferociously but had no bloodlust in his actions. It was like getting a holy man angry, and he was now chasing you with the Bible.

That smile will forever be engraved into my head. The one he gave as he was pumping with adrenaline.

"I want to join the Pillars because of the job offer your boss is offering. It is fantastic and a good start for someone who doesn't come from this realm. That's all. And Bryan, sparring you is horrifying," I replied, gaining back a steady breath.

"Why? When I did try to behead you, your defense was certainly impressive. There was no need to be afraid of me if you could defend or avoid most of my attacks. And your physical attacks..."

Bryan paused before turning his head to face me with an angered expression. I gulped a large ball of air down.

"Well, look what you've done to my blades! They've looked like they went through hell and back! Lady Roydon might behead me if I don't give her an explanation. And Tomoe might wring me out to dry tomorrow if I don't fix before dinner..." exclaimed Bryan, holding up his twin scythes.

I looked at the chipped blades with big eyes. I had no idea that I could do that amount of damage. I was using my fists and some clashes with my longsword. Normally, this shouldn't have happened since we didn't fight with too much tenacity.

"Notice. Your weapon is at the same level as Bryan's Twin Scythes. The fact that it was getting chipped meant that both of your powers are at the same standard. You should check your blade too," advised the voice.

I did so, and I could see the side chipping off ever so slightly. Again, though, it doesn't look as bad as Bryan's blades. I then pulled out the information and statistics of my longsword to the front of my vision. So far, my sword has only taken ten percent of damage from the earlier exchange.

Hang on, how do I fix my blade?

"Notice. You can fix your blade by transferring some Elemental Energy from your body's pool to your sword's pool. Or, you can absorb Elemental Energy from a certain source to your blade. However, at this stage, you are better off using your body's pool first."

All I had to do was get my hands on more food. That should be easy to do. But why doesn't Bryan do the same for his blades? Could it be that they are made out of other materials? If not, I wonder if I could fix it for him?

Bryan seemed worried about his weapons, and the poor man let me stay in his house overnight. Not to mention he paid for breakfast earlier. I have to give some form of payment sooner or later. I don't like being in debt with someone all the time. Words Of the World, anything?

"Notice. You can let him know that he can fix it the same way I've asked you to fix yours."

That's one way; here I go. And the voice sounds upset.

"Uhm... Bryan, you can transfer your body's Elemental Energy pool to your scythes' pool. I do that for my blade, see? My blade's gotten quite beat up after the exchange we had," I suggested, getting out my longsword.
