Deciding Over The Beef

"You can fight it out with either Ysabeau or Mavislin because I am washing my hands off this matter. That is after I've analyzed that audio file," said Z, sighing.

"Well, to hear you say so much about this Mission, I would've thought that you would be the one to be in charge of this Mission. So now you're making the kids go?" asked Baldwin, confused.

"No, I'm making Mavislin and Raiyen take up this Mission. Rina and Bryan would be the kids of this table," answered Z, stretching his arms.

"There's too much I've got to settle in my Ark right now."

"Then what am I supposed to be?" I asked, finally gaining the courage to speak up.

"An infant," chimed everyone at the table.

Come on! There wasn't a need it to the point that out even if it was true... Clement looked at everyone in confusion before continuing with the description of the food.

"Well, I owe you guys this last dish. It is what it is, a meat platter. I call it a Mixed Grill. It's got Iberico Pork Chop, Rack of lamb, and something called 'Cote De Boeuf.' It's cooked beef from the cow's rib, served with the bone. I had to prepare double the serving," explained Clement.

"Why?" asked Gillian, getting ready to eat again.

"Since I heard the few of you are going to Briton, I would assume you guys need food, right? It's the job of the chef of the Old Chapel to prepare meals for the members that are going on a dangerous journey. Like, a good luck gift to send you guys on your way."

"Back to the dish, underneath has got some mini side dishes. Some Heirloom Zucchini and Chopped Greek Salad. Rina can take some if she'd like," said Clement, pointing to the greens of the dish.

"Nope, it's alright. I'll be going back to train the kids for their afternoon sessions. But, Bryan, you owe for this Mission. So I'm going to cover your shift for teaching the kids while you head off with that new girl into the Briton Domain. Alright?" stated Rina, clearing her plates angrily.

"I told you she'll be mad. You owe me those Silvers," whispered Tomoe, opening up his palm beside Z.

The Galaxian Mage sighed as he pulled out some coins from his pockets.

"You two betted on Rina getting angry at me?" asked Bryan, chewing on some meat while having a mortified face.

"No, we were betting on something else. And you haven't got the brainwaves or intelligence to understand what's going on between the two of you. It's like looking at mercury..." laughed Tomoe, shaking his head.

"Oh, come on, man! I lost two Silvers because of your denseness! You can't be that dumb not to get the signal," complained Z, furiously chomping on the pork chop.

"Nope... He's excellent for being this clueless about women. It must be a godsend," laughed TRRomoe.

"Sounds like a god trade since he must've traded his mind for his looks," grumbled Z.

I cringed as I heard the insults. It was like feeling second-hand embarrassment. I felt pity for the poor soul who still hasn't understood what's happening. Sticks and stones may break his bones, but those two were hurling logs and cement blocks towards this poor matchstick man.

"Silence, the two of you. At least Bryan isn't fooling around with the women in the Red Light District while claiming to have feelings for Mavislin. And you're one to talk, Zanier Alooz Carmen, after how you used to treat women of the Congregation," said Baldwin, shutting the two men's insults.

"Baldwin, please don't bring that to the lunch table. Children are eating here," commented Ysabeau, standing up to clear her plate.

OI, who are you calling 'children'? What did that Galaxian Mage do to those women in the Congregation that was so bad? Even Sir Noble has that face of 'disgust' when recounting that fact.

"Uhm... I haven't got the faintest idea, but I hope it doesn't matter for the Mission to come. I'm used to her sudden mood swings by now, so it's hard to tell if that Butterfly is upset or messing around," sighed Bryan.

"Oh, it doesn't matter for the upcoming missions, but it will be in your head in the long run. It'll come to kick in the behind soon enough. And blow holes in pockets," replied Z.

"Besides, Rina said she'll cover me for the teaching of the students so I can hop over there anytime we're ready. Are you alright with that, Elizabeth?" asked Bryan, tilting his head while looking at me.

"I guess I'm alright with it if Lady Roydon agrees to let us go there," I replied, slowly turning my head to look for confirmation by the Valkyrie.
