Long Lost Twin

But, this time, Baldwin decided to chime in, scaring the life out of me as I thought he was already away from the conversation. I guess being a Dark Mage would mean that Baldwin could easily conceal his presence.

"Vincent is Vernice's long-lost twin. The twins didn't get separated by playing in the forest, and it was to cover up the fact that Vincent needed to be out of the Midford Family so that Vernice would take charge without any protest. If you only have one heir, the people have no choice but to abide."

"However, if there are two children, that means the people would likely to take sides of which child to support. And to keep the peace and grip on the nation, the females have to rule instead of the males. So the Midford Family paid Leonard, Li Ling's mother, to kidnap Vincent."

"Now, from what I've known, Vincent is set to marry Li Ling so that he would never remember his roots as a Midford. He'll marry into the Li Family line and not cause any complications. But, upon hearing that his twin was still alive, Vincent fled from the altar."

"This issue has become my problem, and I've overheard you lot talking briefly about him. Suppose you can find that fellow, do contact me. I'm going to slap that boy so hard until he finds himself in another dimension. And not to mention this twin has a knack for hiding."

"He may be human, but it's a royal pain to look for someone born in an assassin family..." complained Baldwin.

"Don't rule out the possibility of Vincent being kidnapped. That guy has got a specialty of the eyes. I recall that quite the number of Mages were hunting him down for those precious eyeballs of his," said Mavislin.

"Eyes? Does this Vincent guy possess awesome sight or something?" I asked, confused as to why the Mages would want Vincent, a human boy.

"Vincent and Vernice were conceived when their mother was cursed by a Mage who could see the future. The Element of Clairvoyance. Thus, Vincent got those eyes as well. However, the Element of Clairvoyance manifested differently in a human," explained Z, taking a letter to examine.

The Galaxian Mage narrowed his eyes while reading the letter. Z shook his head as he placed down that paper.

"Instead of seeing the distant future or the outcome of a certain event, Vincent had created his original Element. Of course, we have no clue what Element is, but we know that Vincent can see in slow motion. As a result, this boy moves faster and one step ahead of his opponent."

"It was a wonder why he got kidnapped in the first place. Most likely, the poor boy got tricked and lured deeper into the heart of the forest," continued Z as he rummaged the letters.

Mavislin skimmed through the letter as her breathing became quite ragged. I could tell that she was getting upset but had no choice but to continue reading. There were nine letters that Vernice had sent to Bryan, all of which had the same scent and paper material.

"There isn't anything useful I could find. All the information in these letters are all we've known about from Elizabeth," said Mavislin, sounding defeated.

I was silent for a while as I picked up the envelopes that were now empty. This Mission is getting messier by the moment as we dig through the evidence and discuss everything in detail. I was worried about how we were going to go through this case. It doesn't seem easy at all.

From what we've gathered during the first half, we deal with a Mage that kidnaps kids to turn them into dolls. That's the simplest way I can review the core of this Mission. Next is that the person who asked for Bryan's help might not be the one we knew all along.

Duchess Vernice has a twin that may or may not be alive at this point and might've been responsible for the one to reach out for help since Vernice isn't allowed at the Prisoners' Den. So the mentioned theory was plausible, but several things still didn't add up.

Why would Mavislin get invited to this random Mage's house all of a sudden? And right before the Valkyrie could head over, I stood in their way and proposed the issue to her before damage was dealt. Call it a thankful save, but something was very wrong with it.

Had Bryan not shared that information with me, I wouldn't have bothered to stop them. And the invitation was on the day of my arrival. So someone must've choreographed this whole thing, but I had no clue who or why. Because sometimes coincidence doesn't happen randomly.
