Two Major Missions?!

The Valkyrie snapped her fingers, and the table shook once more to turn back into the dining table from before.

"Finally, now I can get back to my work—all the best on the Mission. Oh, and as revenge for Tomoe being so rude, I want you to bring back a doll from that place. Treat it like a souvenir, and I would proudly display it in the main hallway. It might even come in handy in the Missions to come."

The Angry Man of the Arks sounded unhinged when he told me to bring back a doll from the Mission. Even though Baldwin doesn't look like a certain mortician I know, he sure seems to fit the criteria. I shuddered and glared at Baldwin with fearful eyes.

"I do wish that this Major Mission is only one of a kind. I don't intend to spend my time chasing after rich, twisted Mages who have an affinity for taking children away from their parents," said Mavislin, in a rather abhorred tone.

"What's a doll good for any of the Missions to come?" asked Z, horrified that Baldwin would bring up such a thing to say.

"I've got an upcoming Mission right after the one I'm dealing with now. And, seeing that most of my Knights aren't that good at laying low, I might ask the other Arks for help to send members on their way for the next Major Mission. It's at Teuton, and I'm hoping Elizabeth would help out."

Mavislin instinctively stood in front of me to shield me from the Angry Man's gaze while Bryan summoned his scythes and pointed them at Baldwin.

"What? I didn't say I was going to kill her. I thought that if she survived this Major Mission, then she'd be the perfect candidate to go onto the job offer I've got. And not to worry about being burned out; there's a week window, so you have time to heal up and get back to work."

"After all, Elizabeth is a strong woman who can protect herself against the spawns of the Corrupted ones and an angry Rina. I highly doubt she would need any of your protection. Let her choose since she knows that she needs to level up to become stronger," explained Baldwin.

I hate to say it, but Baldwin was right about the last few facts. I need to head onto more Missions or practice more on my powers to keep my rank. However, it doesn't seem like him to say such facts. Perhaps I was wrong. Mavislin sighed and walked away to my side.

"You're right about that, but it doesn't explain why you would need a doll to help out with the Mission you've got," I replied, perplexed.

"Well, I'm going to explain it to you after you complete the Dollhouse Mission. If I tell you now, you might get distracted."

Oh, that's right! I forgot about one more thing... I turned to look at Mavislin.

"How much am I going to earn if I pull this off?" I asked, without sugarcoating anything.

I'm a super frank person. This is a job, not some kind of charity work.

"On top of your basic, I'm going to grant you 5 Gold Pieces and whatever is left of that rich Mage. Does it sound like a good deal?" asked Mavislin.

I nodded, and the Valkyrie smiled as she clapped her hands.

"Let's get you to the guest room so you can recuperate for your first Major Mission. I promise you, and the Old Chapel won't give you a bad room. Or you can come over to my room! It'll be a fun sleepover!" squealed Mavislin, happily tugging on my arm in her child form.

Sleepovers, huh? I never had those before. Whenever I was hired to be a sniper, I had to book a hotel room using the deposit money to gain easy access to my target. So that's the most I've got with experience sleeping over at somewhere other than my home.

I was offered to stay at newly built houses to see if the neighborhood was safe for the family moving in, but I would decline. This problem stemmed from my parents never allowing me to go to friends' sleepovers because of a horrible case of kidnapping happening when I was a wee toddler.

However, I've always wanted to try out sleeping over at a friends' place. But Z turned to look at Mavislin dragging me towards the stairs and dashed to stop us.

"Hold on there, Bright Eyes. Remember that Lady Elizabeth needs to come to my room to analyze a certain file? So the showing of the room can wait. And, Slayer Verna, would you like to come with us to see what we're up to? You've always wanted to see my room," asked Z, gently halting Mavislin.
