Defeating A Hurricane

"I am presuming that this storm is a hurricane. And this place over here, the waters between Briton and Teuton, is the Norwegian Sea. I know this shouldn't be the case, but I'm basing this map on my homeworld. If it has the same aspects in terms of weather patterns and conditions..."

"Then we're facing a hurricane created by something else because those waters over there are too cold to create such a large storm, let alone a Category 5 pushing to a 6 hurricane. The most that was recorded as a Category 3, so this doesn't look very natural."

"At most, only remnants of a hurricane would hit the Teuton Domain. Some Mage probably controls the storm to follow the Arctic Circle as a beeline to the Teuton Domain. But let's say that this world is different from mine. It's still a miracle a hurricane would reach that size."

"For a hurricane to reach this size, there must be a lot of thunderstorms in the area. So you might want to do a full calculation and analysis of the waters around there," I explained, with my head filled with the times my mother taught me about geography.

My mother wasn't a teacher, but she needed to study weather patterns for an assignment. And me being the curious kid, I would stand by to watch her research on tropical cyclones.

"The water temperatures over at the North Sea are cold, and I would agree that it would be impossible to have a hurricane hitting speeds of that caliber. However, I can't rule out the possibility that it's still a naturally occurring phenomenon. But I will take your advice," replied Z.

"I will go on ahead and analyze the waters there. If things don't add up, I might have to send my First Ring of the Catastrophe Class Mages in the Blizzard Faction. They are the best in stopping such a thing of horrors. But I don't know why a Mage would do such a thing."

"Then again, you guys are going on a task that involves a Mage going bonkers and kidnapping a whole bunch of kids for his amusement. Nothing is impossible at this point."

I looked at Z with a questionable look and lowered my shoulders. Meanwhile, Bryan was staring blankly at the water quality readings on the other side of the table.

"What if I'd said I can brave that storm? I told you, I can dwindle that thing down into a small storm. It's standing in the way of my current Mission, so I would eventually have to get rid of it," I suggested.

"I'd give you a beautiful reward of either money or a weapon. You can choose after you've done the task. It should appear on your hud now, titled 'Hurricane Estelle.' I have no clue why it's called that, but we'll roll with it," answered Z.

"We've got a deal then," I said, pressing on the 'Accept' button on the pop-out on my vision.

"You need Vania to transfer the file in her physical form, right? So call her out, and she can sit on this plate right here," said Z, patting on a round indent on a section of the table.

I summoned Vania out, which gained the attention of Bryan. He rushed over to see what we were doing. The small girl sat nicely on the round plate, and a holographic blue cylinder appeared on the plate's circumference, trapping Vania inside.

"What's happening to her?" asked Bryan, as Vania looked confused.

"I'm getting the corrupted audio file from Vania's hard drive so I can properly dissect it and figure out what Vernice was saying to the people. And since I'm at it, I might as well go ahead with trying to find that guy from those images you've got," explained Z.

"This time, I am sure that it's Vernice since the image showed off a girl and guy speaking," I added while a loading bar appeared in front of the cylinder.

"Yes, but the audio and the image might not be related. After all, these pictures I'm seeing have been hugely altered. No biggie, I can revert them all to the original picture and work from there."

In the meantime, Z managed to beam out the guy's image talking to Vernice. That was the easiest thing to solve since it only needed to unblur the image. I wonder why Vania couldn't pull that off.

"The image is not as easy to decode as what you see. Not only is this guy not in the records, but I need to dig into Gillian's Archives to get a clearer picture. It's not only about unblurring the image, but the machine I've got is smart enough to grasp every facial feature of this guy."
