Rampaging Anubis

"Because I'm about to be killed by the Egyptian God of Death! I'm lucky that this thing's attacks are slow, but they will send me to the afterlife if this goes on! Unfortunately, the damned archives never prepared me for this, and I've already unleashed my Final Sun."

"Anyways, I need your Skill to see if there's a way to kill it!" yelled Tomoe, dodging another heavy attack.

'Have you killed Vastra yet? If not, you can start by aiming at her! Crap, wait for a bit. Raijin is launching another attack!' shouted Raiyen, as thunder could be heard.

"I already did that like Tocks ago! And Vastra was supposed to have defensive spells. So Temple of Anubis should be a defensive Spell, not summoning a giant dog-man statue with a thousand-pound staff!"

Unbeknownst to the two Mages, Vastra had an extra set of Spells when she turned into her spider form. The Original Spell was called Araneas' Web. However, Vastra can only use one Spell from that list calling upon Anubis.

It was very similar to Mavislin's Alter Spells, where in the adrenaline of the moment, the Mage's powers take a drastic turn and allocates the Elemental Energy into the opposite of the Mage's usual tactic.

It was a mistake to think that the Anubis was slow as it changed its place from the North to the South of the room in a blink of an eye. Nevertheless, Tomoe feared for his 900 years of life as he turned around to see Anubis swinging its staff towards his left side.

The Time Mage tried to get communications back online with Tomoe after Raijin's attack but found that Tomoe wasn't responding. Not wanting to waste any more time, Raiyen dug into Tomoe's memories, using his Authority as a Master, and found a perfect image of Anubis standing tall.

However, like Storm Beast, the Black Knight, and the Corrupted One, the God of Death had chains shackled to various points on its body. The chains were shining brightly in red and restraining the statue from going further than the room itself.

Raiyen instantly sent an image to Tomoe of the statue full of red chains and hoped that the Kitsune wasn't dead after that cut-off. And lo and behold, Tomoe finally surfaced from the mountain of gems from which he had been suffocating.

"Thanks! I see them clear as day. Are you almost done with Raijin?" asked Tomoe as he ran towards Anubis.

'Yes, if you would stop interrupting me! I've already sent you what I can see from my side, so hurry up and finish the job already!' retorted Raiyen.

Hmph... The boy could be a bit happier to see that I was still alive after nearly getting one-shot by the God of Death, thought Tomoe as he changed the grip of his katana. The Kitsune allowed Anubis to slam its staff down, and he leaped onto it, making the weapon a bridge to get closer to the statue.

After taking a deep breath, Tomoe's katana was consumed with blue flames as he allowed his body to move along the flow of the red chains, destroying them. The entire thing was like a flowing dance in slow motion for Vastra as she witnessed the move.

It was hard for Tomoe since his usual combat skills weren't as liquefied as this method's requirement, and he usually relied on sharp and quick slashes. Nevertheless, the Kitsune managed to break all the chains that bound the Anubis to the lair.

However, because the restraints were gone and the statue was left figure things out for itself, the Anubis went out of control, howling in pain while destroying everything in sight. Tomoe was at a loss of what to do and couldn't think straight because a rampaging dog man was terrorizing the area.

Vastra shouted at Anubis to stay calm, but it was no use. Tomoe had miscalculated where the staff would be swinging and was at point-blank range from dying. The Fox was one swing away from becoming a memory until a wall of sand emerged from the ground beside him.

"What the..."

"Go! The wall won't hold for long since my powers are compromised!" yelled Vastra, with her palm reaching out towards Tomoe.

The Kitsune got the message and leaped away from the area next to the dying girl.

"Aim for its neck... The chains around its body may be gone, but... The main collar on the dog is still there. The only... Way to stop it... is to... destroy its neck..." said Vastra, in between heavy breaths.

A pool of blood had formed underneath the Mage and spread outwards, making Tomoe back away.

"Then I can break the collar! I don't have to kill this thing... I'm not going to offend the God of Death by decapitating it!"
