Precious Little Brother

Mavislin would conjure up random spells to blind or block Benjamin's spears while focusing her output on her physical attacks. As a result, Benjamin concentrated all of his Elemental Energy on the spears he was making and failed to fortify his defense.

The Corrupted One was busy trying to pierce Mavislin and failed to realize was Mavislin was getting closer to him. With one swift strike, Mavislin destroyed several rows of spikes and prepared to strike at the waiting opponent. Benjamin looked into his sister's eyes with fear and dread.

Mavislin looked into her twin's eyes with sadness and pity as she contemplated whether to stab her beloved brother. If she didn't, then she would die. And with everything that had happened, not fighting to her last breath would be dishonorable to her ancestors and those who've died.

But if Mavislin followed such ridiculous reasons, she would be a monster in Benjamin's eyes. His accusations would be true since she has the drive to kill her flesh and blood. The Valkyrie needed to act quickly, and Mordred knew that better than anyone.

"What did I do to deserve this?! Why must I be the one to suffer?!" yelled the Corrupt Valkyrie as he squeezed his eyes shut.

Mavislin swallowed a ball of saliva as she heard her mother's kind words run through her head one last time...

"No matter what... When I die, you'll only have each other left. So, please... Don't hurt each other..."

"But why? Benny looks scary, and he has black wings..."

"Because I don't want you to be alone like me. I lost my sister because I argued with her. I fought her, and now she is gone. It was painful... So promise me, even if your brother is different, you'll never hurt him. Because you are the elder, your job is to protect your baby brother."

"And you should never be afraid of anyone different. There are worlds and people that don't look like us but are the sweetest things and won't hurt a fly."

"Okay..."

Since the entire battle was happening within Mordred's head, each thought from Mavislin was audible to the Knight. Thus, when Mavislin's mother spoke, Mordred was startled but felt a wave of warmth rush through her ears.

Naturally, the Knight wished that she would have such a mother instead of Morgana, the evil witch, but the warmth to turned into fear when Mavislin finally made her choice. As Benjamin awaited Mavislin's blade, he squeezed his eyes shut and hoped the pain wouldn't be as bad as he'd thought.

But after a few Ticks, Mordred widened her eyes as she saw who had been stabbed. The Knight of Rebellion couldn't believe that the Valkyrie would have done it since she was upholding virtues and doing what was suitable for the masses.

Benjamin opened his eyes while Mavislin gently closed hers and wrapped an arm around her brother. She snuggled her twin by gently nudging her nose onto his neck, which they'd always done since they were babies.

The regular Valkyrie's wings had shrunk and dulled as the Corrupt Element slowly took over her body.

"But... Why?" whispered Benjamin as his voice broke.

"Because I thought you had gone to someplace to get better... You were sick, remember? Having a high fever... Mother sent you there... To get better... I wanted to see you, but..." whispered Mavislin as she held her twin tightly.

"No... No... No! Why did you miss it?! I thought you were going to kill me?! You had every right to!"

"Your face... Your voice... Even if you had done so many terrible deeds... I can't bring myself to kill you. How could I? Because no matter what... You are still... My precious... Little brother..." whispered Mavislin as Benjamin took the spear from her body.

The Valkyrie gently caressed Benjamin's silver necklace before whispering her last words.

"I'm glad that you've still kept this..."

The spear quickly disintegrated as Benjamin caught her twin before she could drop onto the ashen ground. Mordred refused to look at the scene, fearing it would trigger her tears and sadness.

But the Knight summoned her helmet so she could weep silently at the tragedy of two siblings being victims of war and experimentation. On the other hand, Benjamin was still trying to understand why his sister would do such a thing for him. Had he been wrong all this time?

The ground shook as Mordred saw the skies changing. A massive tear in the skies appeared as the winds picked up. The Knight panicked as she felt the planet moving towards the tear in the skies. They were heading into that giant thing?!

Meanwhile, Benjamin screamed his lungs out as he cradled Mavislin in his arms. The Valkyrie had gone limp, and her hair and wings had turned obsidian black.
