Two Against One?

"What is the meaning of this, Elizabeth?" bellowed Mavislin as her claw was dangerously close to my throat.

Oh... This wasn't going too great... So now it was either siding with my friend or with my boss. And neither outcome is going to be good, so I might as well choose the one my heart truly desired...

"Vincent was from my old world... And we were friends, helping each other in our jobs. So I can't let you hurt him," I said, praying that I don't get sent to another dimension.

"Oh? Is that so? Well then, was he the reason you have chosen to operate away from Headquarters?" asked Mavislin, with her words laced with poison.

"Nonono! That was my promise with Mordred!"

"Mordred? So you're working with that Knight of Rebellion?"

Crap... Whatever I was saying was backfiring on me now... Vincent looked scared as he backed away from the Valkyrie. After that, everyone was silent until Vania's alerts popped out under my vision's 'Quests' section. That's it! I pushed Mavislin's claw downwards to face her.

"Shall we settle this in a fight? As in, a battle to settle our differences and make peace with each other? Since you've said Vincent has disrespected your Orphanage; then it's only justified that you beat him up. However, he and I are fighting you because we want to go on adventures..."

"Does that work for you?" I suggested, hoping the Valkyrie would get what I was trying to do.

"Well... You are not wrong when you said I'd like to beat up this man, but I'd never said you couldn't go off to get your own adventures. I am just worried that teaming up with Vincent would cause harm to you in the distant future. Because of his status in this world..."

"I'm not saying you are lying about his bond with you... I'm telling you that I'm aware of his deeds in this world as a member of the Mafia. And I'm worried that mixing with him would ccuase unnecessary trouble for you," explained Mavislin, retracting her claw.

"Then how about Ashley? Or even that skinny man standing at the corner of the room? They were both Mafia members, and Ashley was the ex-Mafia Head! So why they'd get the green light?" questioned Vincent, reverting to his rebellious form.

I turned around and nudged him in the gut for the guy to stand down. Can't you see that I'm negotiating something for you?! Or would you like to die again?

"Ashley tried to kill me on our first meeting while Bryan had already defunct to the Five Kings and was serving as Minwoo's right-hand man. Meanwhile, you are trying to steal my Swordman Pillar right under my nose... How's that going to work for me?" thundered the Valkyrie.

Unable to handle more stress than my heart could take, I instantly clapped my hands, shocking everyone in the room.

"Alright! Let's move this outside before this whole room explodes! If you two are outraged, I'd suggest duking it out with each other! Out, NOW!" I shouted, motioning the two Mages to jump out of the window.

Mavislin smiled as she leaped out of the window and plummeted to the grassy fields below, unleashing her wings. Vincent did the same as his black wings emerged from his back. As I hopped onto the windowsill, Bryan grabbed my shoulder.

"I thought this fight was only the two of them? Why are you joining in?"

"Well, there's my old ally down there, so it's only right for me to swoop in and help him, right? Besides, I'm itching for another battle..."

"But you've just awoken from one Major fight! Hey!"

I couldn't hear the rest of Bryan's sentence as I leaped off from the window and towards the lush green carpet below. I don't have wings, but I can still be airborne with enhanced strength in my legs.

"So it's a two against one fight? How interesting... What will I get if I win?" asked Mavislin, drawing out her Fire Feather Whip.

"To beat up Vincent... Must fight always elude to a reward or punishment? I'm just here to have a good time fighting alongside my comrade again!" I yelled as I rushed towards Mavislin with my sword in hand.

"Hm... I guess not... But if that's the case, I should fight you with something more appropriate..." said Mavislin, with a smirk at the end.

The Valkyrie swung her whip to force me back, effectively making me clash against it. I quickly flung the rope away and looked at what Mavislin would use against us. With her Elemental Aura flaring up like mad, I was starting to question my life's choices.

But as I turned to another side of the area, Vincent decided to use the Qilin's Bow, ready to fire at the Valkyrie.
