Chapter 48 Neji, Courting Death

Ha...

"We are finally here!"

Outside the death forest's tower, two scarred individuals appeared, their garments splattered with muck and dust.

The person who spoke had resentful white eyes and was holding a scroll in his hands.

"We finally did it, Neji-Kun. We reached our goal"

Unlike his companion, the other person had a watermelon head and thick brows, but his face was full of smiles.

"Guy-Sensei, I didn't waste your teachings."

Lee's eyes welled up with tears as he contemplated the massive tower before him.

"Where's that bastard!!?"

Neji sat down, holding the heaven scroll, and muttered, rather resentfully.

Today is the last day of the second exam, and Neji knows what they went through in these five days.

They were properly disguised, but Lee got into a confrontation with Sound Village Ninja to protect Sakura, but that was just the beginning of a nightmare.

Neji had to go through all of this like sneak attack, sleepless nights, as in five days all of Gojo's enemies pursued them.

Both of them nearly died once, but Lee used his Jutsu to turn the tables at the last moment, and they ran away.

"Will Satoru-Kun be okay?"

Lee sat next Neji, resting as he noticed no sign of Gojo; and wondered whether he was okay.

"I really hope that bastard is dead... but we can't enter the tower without him."

Neji, who was normally cool and composed, had long lost that quality, and he had just began to curse and swear just because of Gojo.

"Hmm~, it appears you had a great time."

Just as Neji finished cursing Gojo, a voice fell in his ears, nearly forcing him to jump up in fear, but he held himself back at the last moment since he recognized this voice.

"Have a good time, My Ass!!!"

Neji couldn't help but yell fiercely at Gojo, his Byakugan nearly transforming into a Sharingan from his rage.

"Hey, don't be mad."

Neji's reaction was stronger than he had anticipated, so Gojo attempted to calm him down.

He expected Neji to be upset, but he didn't expect it to be this intense.

"How can I not feel irritated? We were on the verge of death, and it was all due of the mess you made!! "

Neji yelled, releasing all of his frustration from the previous five days at once.

"It is my responsibility as your friend to guide you. It may have been difficult for you, but you can see the progress, right?"

Gojo's face was devoid of any indication of shame as he revealed the true cause for his conduct with a noble expression.

YAY!!!

"Satoru-Kun!! "I had no idea you cared so much about us; I'm overjoyed!! "

Lee couldn't control himself after hearing Gojo's remarks and yelled with tears and a snort flowing down his face.

"There's no need to thank me; I'm doing this for the sake of the next generation"

Gojo waved his hands, his face holy and immaculate, as if he were the epitome of righteousness and justice.

"Basta__"

"Satoru!"

Neji, seeing the holy look on his face, was going to spit out a mouthful of blood like a CN villain, but a startling shout from behind stopped him from courting death.

"Naruto, you looked a lot better the last time I saw you."

Gojo turned to face the source of the voice and saw that it was Naruto and his friends.

"You appear to be in good health, Satoru." "Did you not take part in the exam?"

Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura arrived before Gojo and were taken aback by his clean clothes and fresh looks.

They just got out of hell, and this guy looks like he just got back from a relaxing vacation.

"Didn't I tell you before, I'm the strongest. I can whiz through hundreds of these petty exams in a matter of seconds"

Whether it was Gojo's past or this life, he always liked to be gazed at in amazement, thus he boasted, unconcerned for the fragile hearts of others.

"Thank you for your help earlier, Satoru-Kun!!"

Sakura stepped forward at this point, her voice filled with appreciation as she bowed to Gojo.

"Oh~, it seems you did succeed in protecting them after all"

Gojo smirked, as seeing Sakura's short hair, he thought that this girl had changed a little and might not cry anymore.

"Earlier? "What exactly are you on about, Sakura-Chan?"

Naruto was taken aback to see Sakura thanking Gojo and hearing her remarks; he had no idea what she meant.

Neji and Lee looked to Sakura for an explanation, as Neji couldn't believe this guy would help someone.

"Satoru

"Well, let's leave that for another time."

Sakura started to explain, but Gojo stopped her since he noticed Sasuke's expression had turned gloomy, and any additional discussion on the subject would only enrage him more.

"It seems this exam really left a deep scar on his mind."

Gojo noticed Sasuke's power-hungry expression from when they first met years ago, revealing how much his battle with that woman had affected him.
