When Freya finally surfaced from the archives it was dark outside, though the entire yard was lit as she walked up towards the Andersson's house. She was about to walk up the porch when someone called her, making her turn to see that Adrian was running towards her.
"Hey, what's up?" She asked, smiling as he stopped in front of her.
"Listen, Camden told Noah about what happened with Zakai and he told your dad." Freya sighed, rubbing her forehead and Adrian nodded slowly as he scratched his neck. "Your dad was here to get you, but since you were in the archive your mother made him go home. Frey, Noah told-"
"Freya." Adrian and Freya turned to see Kol standing at the door, his jaw was set in a firm line as he gestured behind him. "Dad wants me to get you back, your mom just called and said your father is waiting for you." Freya nodded, turning towards Adrian as she wrapped her arms around him. She pulled away, pecking his check before she walked up the steps.
"See you tomorrow, Adrian." She called before she disappeared into the house, looking over to see Noah and Claire standing the table as she and Kol walked through. "Have a good night." They waved and wished her a good night, watching the pair leave the house in silence.
Once they reached the car that belonged to Kol he opened the door for her, waiting for her to get in before he closed it and walked to the driver's side. He started the car and pulled away from the house, his eyes fixed on the road as they pulled out of the driveway. Freya purses her lips as she looks out the window, scratching her neck as an awkward silence fell over them.
"Are you okay?" He finally asked as he came to the first stop sign in their path, his eyes turning to look at her. Freya nodded, looking at him as he continued to stare at her.
"You can go, Kol." She murmured, causing him to blink before he began to drive. "And I'm fine, I can handle being thrown around a bit." She leaned her head against the head rest as he scoffed, shaking his head.
"An island and a railing on a staircase are broken, I think it is perfectly normal for people to be worried since they were broken with your body." He grumbled, turning his head to make sure there were no cars before he continued to turn.
"Yes, my body that can heal itself." She turned her head towards him, shooting him a smile as he glared at her. "Give him a break, Idris said he was new and I just got back. He doesn't know who I am."
"Which is the only reason he isn't six feet in the ground." Kol retorted as he pulled into her driveway, but she didn't get out. Freya unbuckled her seat belt and turned to face him as she turned on the light, her jaw set as she looked at the side of his face.
"Look at me." He turned his face, an annoyed look on his face as he returned her stare. It fell off his face when he saw how angry she looked, her face serious as she looked at him. "We are not together, Kol. I don't need you to protect me, I don't need you to worry. Being an overprotective, brooding jerk who looks twice at someone who challenges me is not the way to show that you have changed." A look of shock flashed over his face as she spoke, though she didn't care and she held up a hand when he went to speak. "I'm not finished." Kol frowned, shaking his head as he looked away before he looked back at her, letting her continue to speak. "I can protect myself, okay? My father made sure of that, so please have a little faith in me and listen when I say that I am okay." She finished and he frowned, nodded before she sighed as she looked over to see her father opening the front door. "You're right about needing to get over this, and I'm working on it. How about trying to win me back as a friend before you jump straight to being an over protective mate." She murmured, grinning as he looked at her with annoyance.
"I will put more faith in you, but that doesn't mean I won't be mad if someone puts their hands on you, Freya." He stated as she opened to car door and started to get out, his gaze was looking forwards when she looked back at him. "As your friend, I would still be pissed." He looked at her with a smirk, making her roll her eyes as she got out and closed the door. She waited for him to leave before she walked towards the house, a small smile on her face when she saw her father.
"So, I met your little rescue tod-" Freya was cut off by her father grabbing her, wrapping his arms around her as he squeezed her tightly. "Oh my god, dad. I'm fine, he didn't even leave a scratch on me." He pulled away and she gave him a worried, confused look but he looked at her with serious eyes.
"Freya, Zakai is one of the most violent werewolves I've ever seen." He whispered, his hands on her shoulders. "He has put so many of the members in the infirmary, he has these fits of aggression where he can't control himself. The way he toys with the animals he hunts-" Her father shuddered as he thought about it, remembering how he was on a run with Zakai and how it was the first time in his life when he regretted saving someone. "Please, just be careful around him. What happened with you today was his second strike with the Alpha, he is walking on very thin ice with Noah right now."
"If he's so dangerous then why is he still here?" She asked, her brows furrowed.
"We don't know if his aggression is because he is new or if he is just-"
"A freaking psycho?" The pair looked up as to see Kristyn standing there, leaning against the door jam with her arms crossed. "I want him out, Greyson. As far as I'm concerned, he should be gone for what happened today. It is the pack house, who else could have gone in there besides a member of our pack?" Freya smiled as she walked to her mother, wrapping her arms around her before she kissed her cheek.
"Mom, I'm okay. He just tossed me around a little. Besides, I did antagonize him a tad bit." Freya admitted, causing her mother to shake her head.
"Of course you did." Kristyn muttered, ruffling her daughter's hair before Greyson walked up and nudged his daughter.
"Come on, let's go inside. Dinner is waiting for you, and after that it is to bed. It's the Mabon celebration tomorrow and I need to win the competition again!" Freya and her mother chuckled as they walked inside, Greyson in tow as they walked through the door.
