Chuva

I ignored it. Maybe he was late or something. The bell rang and I walked to class. Thirty minutes went by and he still hadn't arrived. Maybe he was sick. The first two periods went by and he still wasn't there. I sat down and took out my phone. I scrolled but didn't wanna watch anything. I looked into the football pitch and Heracul wasn't there. The bell rang again and we went in.

The day went by and Mazan was no where to be found. I went through the alleyway shortcut. Suddenly Herma appeared in front of me. "I'm sorry to say this but, Mazan is... dead" he said walking by me. I froze, no he couldn't be. If it was about me and Heracul then I should've been killed. I turned back and he was gone. I had to see it for myself but I didn't know where his house was. I refused to believe it unless I saw his body for myself. I got home and went to my bed. Han and Pearl were missing again. I took out my phone and put some music to sleep to.

I up again but it was Saturday. I got up and got my guitar. I played myself a song so I wouldn't fall asleep again. I got up and made myself some breakfast. I ate alone then left to try find Mazan. I knew he lived somewhere near the school because he'd told me before. I searched close to the school first but I couldn't see the dog house he said he had. I went down the street and stared at them. A lady looked at me and thought I was gonna rob her house. "Hey, what are you staring at" she said staring at me as if she was ready to fight. "Nothing" I said walking away. Moments later, I heard sirens. I ran down a random alleyway and hopped over the fence. "Freeze!". I turned back and saw a man chasing me. He had a gun on his waist so I couldn't fight. I ran around the house and climbed over the gate. I ran into the building in front then turned back. The police man was gone. I looked in front and there was a bag. My heart dropped. I came close and opened the bag. Inside, there he was, Mazan was really dead. I carried his body outside biting my lip to stop myself from crying. As blood dripped down from my lip, it began to rain blood.

I walked back to the police and told them. I was arrested and scheduled for a court date two weeks from now. I cried in the corner of the cell. Why was this happening. I didn't do anything wrong. "Oi shut up kid!" shouted the officer outside my cell. I cried myself to sleep. Morning came but I didn't know the time because there was no clock. I couldn't reach the window because it was too tall. They fed me some mash and gave me dirty water. I didn't eat. I wanted to sleep more, not eat. I stared at the ceiling and slowly fell into sleep. In my dream, I saw the hills and the park I used to play at when I was a child. I could see a little me playing with my friends. My mom read her book and I looked like I was enjoying myself. I hadn't felt joy in a while.

Two weeks went by and my court date arrived. I had a public lawyer but the police had no evidence on me. "I plead not guilty" I said through the microphone. I left the room and had a second court hearing scheduled for next week. They had no witnesses or evidence so it was an easy case but the point was Mazan was dead. The next week came and I went back into the room. "May the defendant step up" said the Judge. I walked forward and took a deep breath in.

"I was running from the police because some lady thought that I was gonna rob her house so then I ran into an abandoned warehouse which is where I found the body" I said into the mic. He looked down at his papers. "Where did this go down?" he asked looking back up.

"Near the school I go to, I think Bayaton street" I said trying to remember what the sign said. He looked back at his papers then asked, "Why where you seen carrying the body?".

"I wanted to hand it to the officials so then he'd get a proper burial" I answered. The Jury looked up. "I acquit you of all charges" he said slamming his hammer down. I left the building after I changed clothes and returned to the orphanage.

"Han, let's continue our journey" I said as I entered the room. He paused and stared at me blankly. "No, I don't want to" he said laying back down. I stopped and turned to him. What the fuck did he mean. "We said that we'd only stop here for a bit longer then continue our journey" I said angrily. "No, I don't wanna leave Pearl". I stopped. He decided to stay with a girl he'd known for four months instead of going back onto our journey. "Fine, do as you want but I'm leaving" I said packing my bags.

At nine, I left to go to the docks. I could sneak into the boat. I waited for two days until the boat came. I snuck in during the night and hid under one of the private bedroom's beds. The next morning, the boat departed for the continent of Cadobu. Maybe I could find my mom there. I stole food during the night so that I didn't have to waste the ones I'd packed for when I actually reached the continent. Luckily, no passengers had rented the bedroom I was in so no one came to clean or anything. On the seventh day, I reached the place.
