Chapter 56: All About Dopplegangers

Jack

Jack released Adeline when fear crossed her face. She didn't say anything as she swung her long legs over and off Beth's guest bed.

Earlier when he and Adeline caressed, he could have sworn no power was involved, except for the two of them being attracted to each other, but he had been mistaken. It was Adeline's succubus power he'd absorbed that made her want to sleep with him. From his research, she was a demon, feeding off unprotected people in their sleep.

Yet, in their time together, she'd been all business even when she helped him escape the creature and was concerned about her bounty. Was she more like him than he thought? A succubus who didn't approve of using her ability, or perhaps the stories were wrong? After all, they'd been wrong about doppelgangers.

Her eyelid twitched. "I got to wash up." The bed squeaked as she rose. "As soon as we get out of here, I'm turning you in."
