Ty
Ty tilted his head as a mix of emotions crossed Carla's greenish-brown eyes. Confusion. Panic. What was she upset about? Last night she'd done nothing but sleep and mutter about moons. Not that he'd watched, but she was loud. Now she grasped the sheets beside her until her knuckles turned white, and her gaze darted around the room, lingering on the door.
"Listen, if you'd rather take a cab, let me pay your way."
She relaxed a fraction but didn't take her eyes off him or the door reminding him of a trapped animal. "I'll take you up on your offer. Goddess knows I've spent too much money already."
"Finish your breakfast. There's a bathroom to your right. Feel free to freshen up, and then we'll leave." He stepped toward the door.
Her shoulders relaxed a bit more, and she took another bite. "Hmm, let me thank you by buying you lunch."
