Clumsy Duchess

Calliope's father built another house and abandoned this old house. But after coming to power, she renovated it and started using this place as an office. No official work takes place in the family house but here. This place was like a headquarters for every Wilding employee.

She was taken inside with the help of a driver who now seemed to have transformed into a bodyguard. Since she was wearing oversized sunglasses and a face mask, no one recognised her. They all were busy with their duties. No one would ever imagine that such an old looking castle would have such high technology built inside it. Everyone was controlled by computers and robots here. Nothing could miss the intelligent and sharp eyes of computers and bots.

It could be said that the entire security system of Wilding Estate and businesses was controlled from here.

"This place didn't change at all," Calliope muttered as she looked at the supercomputers on every side.

"This was designed according to your wishes, your grace." The man reminded her.

Calliope sighed. For someone like her who stayed away from the internet, this was surely an unbelievable fact. She didn't design this place if that was someone wondering about. She just told them what kind of place she wanted and what kind of elements she needed but who would have thought that all those elements together could create one of the strongest security systems in the country. Her family owned clickNext. Nothing less could be expected from them.

"Sir Dyke is waiting for you inside, ma'am." A man dressed in a black uniform and sunglasses said with a straight face. It seemed he didn't recognise her as he didn't bow in courtesy.

When the door opened, Calliope walked inside alone. She saw a tall and well-built man standing by the glass mirror, his back facing her. He seemed to be talking to someone over his earpiece. He was wearing a fitted grey suit, accentuating his muscular fit.

As she closed the door, he turned around, his hawk-like green eyes meeting hers through their sunglasses. As if he could recognise her in those clothes no one had ever imagined the duchess to wear, he cut the call and bowed his head in courtesy.

"Your grace, welcome home," Sir Laxamus Von Dyke said in a firm voice.

"You haven't changed, Dyke, " Calliope sighed as she walked limply and sat on the nearest couch.

"Call the doctor. Now," Dyke shouted, touching his earpiece.

'Callous young man.'

Calliope rolled her eyes. There was no fun in telling a block of ice to calm down. He loved to make a big deal of every single thing.

"Your leg…"Dyke hesitatingly glanced at her feet draped in a bandage.

"Is fine," Calliope completed his sentence. "Just twisted my ankle. Nothing that can kill me."

Laxamus closed his mouth, refraining from making any comments. He just stood there in a straight posture, emitting his deadly aura and suffocating every living organism present in the enclosed room.  When the door opened and a familiar-looking man entered with a doctor's kit, Dyke walked forward to have a look at her foot. The doctor removed a bandage wrapped around her foot and examined her ankle.

"Her grace is clumsy as usual." The doctor uttered and Laxamus Dyke shot him a deadly glare. He added without looking up, "And Sir Dyke's eyes are as menacing as ever."

"I didn't know Doctor Romani would recognize me right away," Calliope said,  amused. She was still wearing her mask and oversized glasses.

The doctor grinned at her cheekily. "You can remove your mask, Calliope. I swear I won't snitch on you."

"Manners, Romani!" Laxamus Dyke said in a cold voice.

But the doctor was not the one to listen.

Calliope removed her mask and the doctor sucked in a breath.

"Damn, can you get more beautiful?" Matteo Romani said, dramatically clutching his chest.

Calliope laughed at his exaggerated reaction. "Where is Doctor Romani?"

"What do you mean by your sentence? Am I not doctor Romani?" Matteo feigned hurt.

Calliope rolled her eyes. "Since when did you become a doctor?"

"Since the time you started becoming so damn beautiful," Matteo replied smoothly.

Behind them , Laxamus was standing with his dark presence. He didn't forget to warn this annoying doctor, "Manners Romani or I won't think before cutting your tongue for talking to her grace like that.'

"Are you saying that Calliope is not beautiful?" Matteo Romani asked with a raised brow.

Laxamus Dyke paused as he stared at Calliope's face which was earnestly looking back at him for an answer. He felt speechless for a moment as he didn't know what to say.

"She is," Laxamus said in his usual cold voice but the red tips of his ear betrayed him. Thankfully, no one noticed it.

Author Note: I have planned this book to be around same length as The Villain-- 200-300. So, I was thinking of locking it at 40 chapters. I think this is a good number to lock a book. If the book is about 200 chapter, I'm giving around 20% of the book for free reading.

I hope you guys will try to understand my predicament. As soon as I complete 40 Chapters, I will go premium. And I can promise constant updates from April.

PS: I participated in WPC Please support my new work with votes. The title of the book is : *Reincarination: From Opressed Missy To Campus Belle*

It's a pure campus romance.
