Irony

"What would you like to have, Ma'am?" A barista asked as she looked at the woman lost in thoughts. Her voice brought Calliope out of the trail of memories that she wanted to suppress deep somewhere but she couldn't.

"Can I get your classic white cream top cupcakes?" Calliope asked with a soft smile.

"I apologise we stopped selling them a few months back, "The Barista smiled. "We have many more varieties. You can select from the wide range of cupcakes that we offer."

Calliope smiled at the irony but shook her head. "Then, just get me a coffee."

"Sure, ma'am, "The barista left with a polite smile.

Reluctantly, Calliope left the cafe after having the coffee that didn't taste the same that it did months ago. How would coffee taste the same even when she wasn't the same person that she was once upon a time?
