Flight Of Normality

"Please make sure your devices are off while we are taking off. We do not want to interfere with the signal on our plane today." At those words, Amelia leans back into her seat.

No need for cellphones on this flight, meaning there was no chance for Jake to contact her while she was onboard. A light smile gracing her lips, eyes fluttering shut following the relaxing feeling she began to feel. A fleeting feeling, if it was something to happen only once– She was going to enjoy it.

Free for a few hours, at least there was a sliver of time to calm the nerves running through her.

"Please enjoy the broadcast of movies of all varieties! We will be taking off shortly." The intercom can be heard being placed down, the chatter of passengers all around her filling her ears.

The noise didn't matter, it was peaceful to be a part of society with no label to herself. Of course being an agent came with people knowing who she was, but none seemed to come up to her in recognition. No one knew who she was, not the people aboard the plane. Amelia for once, was inside of likeminds of common people. Being able to take a breath, and relax.

Something she had not felt in ten years.

A mere child burdened with so much weight, weight that even adults had no idea how to carry. A normal life, stripped away before she even had the chance to choose her path. Had the terrors of her life not happened, would she have become an agent at all? What would have been her goal in life– what dream would she have achieved if life had been normal?

Perhaps dwindling on a dream that would never be lived was useless. Fruitless to the woman who now lived in a chaotic state of being. Her childhood was over, she was a grown woman with responsibilities in every aspect of her life.

Yet, a little bit of normality wouldn't be awful to indulge in. Amelia knew things were going to get worse from here, no matter what she did.

With the movement of the plane, she feels the wheels rising off of the runway. Pushing the large aircraft into the air. All of the passengers clapped in joyous union at the start of their trip to the sunny state of California. A moment that would soon end.

Normality didn't last forever, not in Amelia's world. Chaos was normality, and anything other was a blessing. Only a plane ride away, from losing it all.

7:00 P.M (GMT8)

Being home was not so welcoming as she had wished for it to be. Nothing felt welcoming anymore around her, the world never was. Yet the one place she had cultivated as her own– Now was a dreading place to return to.

A dark and stormy sky, storms threatening to make their debut in the once clear and sunny canvas. It was only a matter of time before the rain began to fall on the busy streets and buildings, transforming into a storm too great for people to even step foot into it.

Weather as if it had a mind of its own, conjuring in its wake to bring friction and destruction. Forming in a pattern she knew all too well, even if she dared to deny its existence. Feeling as if the weather revolved around her entire livelihood, matters of what was to come next. A raging storm this large had implications– They were far from good ones.

It brewed right over her head, just as she came closer and closer to her home. Closer to the other person who no doubt was waiting for her–A confrontation she was not ready for. No extra time, no days to ponder on her words.

How could she address her disappearance to the man she lived with, the man she had given her life to? A man who helped spread her wings, showed her what love truly was through the scars and pain. Love was unable to restore the damage now, doubt seemingly wedged in between the two of them.

Amelia had lied through her teeth once before to him, now having to extend her careless whispers for someone she gave her entire heart to. She could not tell him where she was going, what she was doing–It would risk the man who she valued above all.

Dallas however, was not the same man in her eyes. He had seemed to change throughout her departure. Unable to control his emotions through just his own voice. Those purple hues would pierce her with a single stare, Amelia was lucky they had only been voicemails, not a face to face conversation.

Her luck was quickly running out as she approached her own home, doubtful of missing him on her arrival.

Her heart was racing at the thought of their first confrontation, thinking of all the words she had yet to say. How she would explain everything with lies on top of lies–With no end of help in sight from him. A dreadful thing to do, to lie to the man she gave five years of her life to. Unable to bring herself to feel no emotion lying to him, it hurt her to even let false words spill from her lips. However, there was no other option for her to continue to keep everything in somewhat of a balance.

It was either that, or her father's life cut short. Another life lost because of her. Nothing would be worse in this lifetime, than losing her father because of her own actions. Amelia would rather risk her life for his own– Whether he liked it or not.

She swings the door open as if it wouldn't slam on the wood against it. The last few days could not have gone any slower. With the events that had happened, with the wager over her head. Time was drilling at her skull, almost completely burying her function of reality deep within her. Amelia had to keep herself composed: keep herself together. Even when walking into the silent home she owned with her partner. The slamming of the wood doesn't even phase her, as her hand swings it back to slam in place. An empty home, Dallas had yet to arrive it seemed.

As it slams shut behind her, her steps pause in front of it. Pushing her weight to lean against it. Duffle bag in one hand, while her fingers ran through her dark sleek hair. The ponytail she once had up to avoid mess, was now down. Locks of jet black hair flowing down her back, over her ears, even in front of her eyes. The grip on the duffle bag releases, as it drops heavily onto the wooden floor below her. A sigh leaves her lips, fluttering her eyes shut.

Even in the dark abyss of her room, the weight on her chest never lifts. The constant feeling of terror, fear, and genuine distress fill every part of her. She was meant to serve, to protect. Now her hands were bloodied with the blood of innocence. Maybe not innocent in all aspects, but innocent enough to not be on the shooting end of her gun. Her muscles refused to move, not an inch did she dare to try. It felt as though if she moved from this exact position, the entire floor would fall under her feet. Something she had not felt for years, always being in control of herself–Of the people around her.

Until the light chuckle pierces her ears. A chuckle that she knew was not her lover.

The sudden sound from the dark edges of her room causes her to lean to her side. Small and slender fingers feeling for a light switch. Anything to turn the dark room into something of familiarity. The smooth surface is felt under her finger tips, and in a moment the lights are dimly lit.

Light pulls the clear picture of where the noise had come from. There stood the man she despised, the man who continued to torment her even now. Who she had hoped she kicked six feet under.

Yet there he stood, his arms crossed over his chest. A large black fluffy coat hung over his arms, pulled down to the bottom of his ankles. Large black boots, black sleek pants, and a matching button up. A few buttons are pulled away from one another, showing a part of his chest. Scaring is visibly seen, along with the ink painted in the shape of a dragon's head. His large hands pulled against black fabric, tapping against the black fur on his wrists. His posture was against the wall of her living room, messed up black hair pressing against it.

His face held nothing but a sinister smile. Lips curled up like the Cheshire cat spotting poor Alice. A blue hue shimmering in mischief in her direction, while the other side of his face completely deformed. A ghastly sight Amelia still could not get over. Something she had caused, and yet it didn't finish the job she started.

Amelia was unamused, rather than shocked. He had come into her home uninvited before due to their little wager. She was in no mood for any sort of games, after she had just shot and killed two people because of him. She squints towards him, taking a few steps forward.
