Cameron ran up to me and gave me a kiss on top of my head. He was the best. He was so kind. He pushed his straight blonde hair out of his dark brown almost black eye. He reached his arm down and wrapped it around my waist. We turned around, Arianna was gone. I released a sigh. Arianna hates Cameron. She has talked to me many times about how Cameron was no good. That he was only into me for my body. I did not believe her. He was always so nice to me, giving me compliments all the time, buying stuff for me, and taking me on dates. After all he has done for me she still hates his guts. She tells me he is dramatic and that he guilt trips me, but that's not true at all. At least I don't think it is. She just has my best interest at heart….right?
"Babe, what are you thinking about?," he asked me.
"Nothing," I responded quickly.
"You are not thinking of Arianna again are you?," he asked, very snarky.
"NO! What's wrong with Arianna?"
"Nothing… well it's just she hates me so much i think…well it does not matter,"
"What 'does not matter'?,"
"I think she is trying to break us apart,"
"Not this again. Arianna would never do that, she just wants me to be happy. So get that silly thought out of your head,"
"So what are you doing tonight?," Cameron asks quickly, changing the subject. I just roll with it.
"Nothing, what do you want to do?,"
"Do you want to go see a movie later?," he asks.
"One-hundred percent," I responded very happy he asked, ``What movie do you have in mind?,"
"What about that comedy about those firefighters?,"
"Yes i have been wanting to see that one,"
"Then it's a date. I will pick you up at eight," he said. Giving me a kiss on my head. I felt my cheeks getting hot as they turned a bright shade of red. We split our separate ways and I headed toward my first class. Making it to the class I found my seat. Then an announcement came on through the loudspeakers.
"Arianna Smith please come to the principal's office and bring your stuff," the man's voice said over the loudspeaker.
I wonder what she did. I will have to ask her about it later.
….
It was about an hour later when the announcements came on again. The man's voice echoed through the school.
"Genna Miller please report to the principal's office and bring your stuff,"
Shit….. What did Arianna drag me into now?
I gathered my stuff and headed down to the office. Walking through the entrance of the main office I got a very bad vibe from all the workers. They all just stared at me as I walked over to the principal's door. It was closed. I raised my hand to knock when the door opened. The principal was standing there with the door wide open. Sitting behind his desk and man.
"Come on in and please take a seat," the man said, gesturing to the seat in front of him. I took a few steps into the room and the door shut behind me. I flitch at the sound. Sitting down in the chair the man introduced himself and explained to me about the arranged marriage. I started tearing up.
"But I have a boyfriend and a family. I can't leave them behind." I said with my voice shaking.
"You will no longer be allowed to see your boyfriend, and your parents have been informed of the situation. They will be paid a monthly sum of one-thousand dollars to make up for your inability to contribute to the family. You do not have a choice in this matter, you will be getting married to Mr. Davis," the man said, "your parents have packed your things and your stuff is in the hammer. Ready to take you to the airport,"
"But why me?," I asked as tears fell from my eyes.
"It's because you are an only child and are very fertile. Which means you can provide children to inherit the future royal line," he responded. "There is no time to lose, you need to get to that airport,". I stood up and I was assured out the door by the guard that would accompany me all the way to the airport.
When we were all in the hummer and heading to the airport. The guard in the passenger seat turned around and asked for my phone. With a sniffle I handed it to him. We sat in silence all the way to the airport. It was at least an hour drive between the school and airport. At one point it asked if they could turn on the radio but there was no answer. I was left to my thoughts for entertainment during the ride.
I wonder who the other girl Alexander spoke of? Who are the Davis's aways? Hy have I never heard of them before? Could the other girl be Arianna? She was called down to the office half an hour before I was. I hope it is her. I don't want to go through this alone.
Before I knew it we were at the airport. The driver drove right onto the landing pad of the plane. There was a second hummer that we pulled right next to. I crawled out of the hummer. Standing was hard. My legs were shaking from the stress of the situation and the drive. The door on the hummer opened and a familiar pitbull jumped out with a harness saying "service dog" on the side of it. I only knew one service dog that was a pitbull.
"Bailey!," I yelled, dropping to my knees to pet the dog, as she bolted toward me. I looked back up at the hummer and a female form climbed out.
"Arianna!," I yelled, tears welling up in my eyes. I shot up and ran to her. I hugged her so hard I thought I broke one of her ribs. We pulled away from each other, at this point tears were rolling down my face. Tears started to form in her eyes at the site of me crying.
"I thought I would never see you again," she told me, hugging me one more time.
"An arranged marriage! What kind of cruel joke is this? Are we ever going to go home, or see our parents again?,``I said sobs ripping through me boby. I have no idea how Arianna could understand a thing I was saying. She grabbed my head and pulled it to hers so that way our foreheads were touching. She looked me in the eyes. Saying in a very quite and calm voice said,
"Everything is going to be okay, we will be okay. We are here for each other, through thick and thin. I am not leaving your side," ears starting to roll down her cheeks. Bailey came up to her and buried her nose into the side of her leg. Almost as if to say "mom, are you okay? Why are you crying,". Arianna released my head and pulled me into a tight hug and we stood there for what felt like forever. Until a ruff, husky voice drew our attention away.
"Madams, the plane is ready. We get going,". We let go from our hug and looked in the direction the voice came from. It was one of the guards. He was holding our luggage. Behind him the rest of the guards were carrying the rest of the luggage into the plane. I nodded and we walked to the plane. Bailey was not far behind.
From one of the doors on the side of the plane extended a long staircase. Arianna went up first, Bailey following on her heels. I followed Bailey up the stairs. When I reached the platform on the top, I looked back at the hummers and slowly scanned the area around.
This will be the last time I see this place for who knows how long.
Turning around I entered the plane. This was not a plane. I realized it was a private jet. In front of me was a marbled counter bar. Complete with a sink and mini-frigid filled to the brim of soda and nonalcoholic beverages. To the right of the bar a white leather couch and coffee table. Across from the couch and the coffee table was a lavish desk. On the desk was a fancy laptop, with speakers. Above the computer on the wall was a flatscreen tv. To the left of me were two single person beds one on each wall. In between the beds was a door. Arianna was laying on one of the beds, Bailey laying on her lap.
"You have to feel these beds, they feel so soft. It feels like I'm laying on a huge pillow," Arianna told me. I walked over to the other bed that was across from her and flopped onto it. It was like laying on a pillow. The bed was so soft it was like touching a marshmallow without the powdery feeling. I looked at the door.
"What do you think is behind that door?," I asked her.
"No clue," she said in response. Standing up I opened the door. It was a small hallway. On the right was another door. I opened the door on the right and it was a bathroom. Closing that door. I walked back into the main area, shutting the door behind me.
"What was it?," Arianna asked.
"A small hallway with a bathroom behind a door to the right,". Sitting back down on the bed I asked "where do you think we are going?,".
"They are probably taking us to the capital in Blanche," about a century ago the country of France took over the United States and Canada. Combining then separating the new land into ten different provinces. Each province was named after the queens of Frances' past. The ten provinces are Blanche (where the capital is located), Eleanor, Margaret, Joan I, Anne, Bertha (where we lived), Mary, Isabella, Catherine, and Antoinette. After the new provinces were set in place, France put in place five wealthy rich families to rule over the new land collectively. These families were the Garica's, Davis', Lee's, Parker's, and Perez's. The families were soon considered royalty in the eyes of citizens, and followed the tradition of arranged marriages. The ten provinces eventually split from France about ten years later. The split happened because France was no longer able to support its own lands and people, along with the new provinces. The ten provinces became their own country which is now called Queen's lands.
"You think? I guess it only makes sense,``I said in response. We layed in the bed for about ten minutes, before we felt the jet start to prepare to take off. Within the next fifteen minutes we were in the air on the way to our unknown destination. My eyelids started to grow heavy. I tried to stay awake as long as possible, but it did not take long for sleep to claim me.
I woke up to the sound of yelling, something moving, and the sound of whimpering. It was pitch dark out. There was no clock in the jet cabin, so I had no clue what time it was. I looked to my left. Arianna was having one of her nightmares and Bailey was trying to wake her up by whining at her. Standing up I walked over and sat on Arianna's bed. She had tears rolling down her face as she writhed back and forth trying to escape her dream. She started to scream again. I put my hand on her shoulders. Her skin was very sweaty, as she rolled around in her sleep. I shook her hard and I spoke to her.
"Arianna, Arianna, wake up. Arianna, wake up," i kept my voce calm as i spoke to and she woke up. Sitting up, she started balling. Her sobs echoing through the jet cabin. I pulled her into a tight hug. Her tears rolled onto my shoulders. Bailey whimpered and started to lick her face and then laid on her lap. We sat there for a long time before she stopped crying and pulled away.
"Do you want to watch a movie?," asked her in a soft quiet voice. She nodded silently. We got up and walked over to the couch. She sat down Bailey jumping into her lap. While I looked for the remote. Finding it under the remote under the tv. I grabbed it and sat next to Arianna. Turning on the tv and entering Netflix we looked for a movie. After a few minutes we decided on one and watched movie after movie until the sun was rising over the clouds out the windows.
I looked over at Arianna. She was dead asleep using Bailey as a pillow. I stood up and made my way over to the mini-fridge. Bending down I opened the see through glass door on the fridge and examined the drinks. Pulling out a coke, I heard Arianna starting to toss and turn again, but then she stopped.
It's all my fault. If it wasn't for...
"Madams, this is your captain speaking. we will be landing in about 2 hour," a man's clear and arrogant voice said over the loudspeakers.
Perfect just enough time to watch another movie. What was I thinking about again?
Standing up I walked back over to the couch and sat down. Grabbing, I remote off the white cushion next to me. Scrolling through Netflix I found a movie. It was some romance movie. It was about a girl, she looked to be in her teens. She was living in the cities and then she had to move. She was forced to move because her family was under protective services. That's the last thing I remember…..
I woke up to someone shaking me. Opening my eyes it was Arianna.
"We have landed. It's time to go," she says, as I whipped the sleep out of my eyes. Standing up she grabs my hand and we head to the door, Bailey leading the way there. Reaching the stairs, Arianna starts walking down, I follow. At the bottom of the stairs there were three guards. Two guards were loading our things into another hummer, and the other was standing next to the back door of the hummer. As we approached the hummer he opened the door for us. Bailey jumped in, needing no convincing. Arianna and I both climbed in after the dog. We both buckled the seat belts simultaneously.
They definitely will never need to tell us to buckle up, after…..
The driver door on the hummer opened and one of the guards climbed in. Buckling his seat belt. Then we were off. I looked out the window at our surroundings. This did not look like a normal airport. It was way smaller than usual. The runway was just big enough for one plane to take off and land. There was only one parking shed, and it looked just big enough for the jet we arrived in.
"Where are we?," I asked with a big lump in my throat. The guard did not respond. I looked at Arianna, she looked back. Her eyes were big and filled with worry.
"Where the hell are you taking us!Arianna said, her voice on the verge of yelling. Still no answer. Arianna started to get visibly scared. Her hands started to shake. Her breathing became quick and shallow. Bailey started to whine. The dog placed her head on Arianna's lap in an attempt to comfort her. I grabbed one of her shaking hands and squeezed it slightly. I wanted her to know I was here for her.
"I have been instructed to not tell you where we are or where we are going," the guard finally responded from the front seat.
"There is no need to worry," I whispered in a low and comforting voice to arianna. She squeezed my hand in response. Bailey whimpered one more time and buried her head into Arianna's chest.
Arianna let go of my hand and started to stroke the dog's head repeatedly. We both looked out the window, watching the scenery fly by. It was all woods. Sometimes we would drive over a bridge every once and awhile. There were absolutely no road signs and that fact made me more worried. I could tell it made Arianna more nervous too, as her petting of Bailey's head sped up with every turn of the vehicle. It felt like forever before we finally turned onto a dirt road covered with rocks. This dirt road took us right to a house.
