Training session

After a few days of working with Jeremy and resting, I was allowed to get back to what I had started. Wulfsige never came to see how I was doing; I didn't get his reasons but I had a hunch. Maybe he wanted me to pay attention, he was brutal. He didn't look at me with pity and I liked that about him. Unlike Jeremy, he wasn't trying to be nice, he was genuine.

I moved back to my room, which I cleaned and had no chance of sleeping in. It was smaller than Jeremy's and there was silence. The silence that I had desperately tried to find. There was no sunlight in the room, suddenly something occurred to me. My heart ached all of a sudden and made me breathless. My hands started to shake, I was in a horrible situation, I gasped for breath and it was not helpful. My legs gave out and I fell on the ground. I didn't know what had happened to me, I couldn't think of an answer my condition. And in an instant, a torrent of tear engulfed my face. I wasn't sad nor happy so I let it pass as the after effect of Wulfsige's masterpiece. How absurd of me!

Finally, my shaking stopped alongside my tears and I was back to my normal condition. I never told Jeremy about what happened to me because I thought it was meaningless to mention, but now that I think about it, I wish that I had reached my hand to the hands that he offered to me. It's funny that we, humans try to evade each other and at the same time we want to get close to each other. If only I had found it sooner…

I couldn't get up so I lied down, all my body was tired. Every muscle, every bone, every milliliter of my blood. I was exhausted. I looked outside the window which hadn't allowed sunlight to come in, the sky was cloudy. Even though there was no sign of sun, it was bright outside, as if the sun was telling, no matter how think the cloud were, she could shine brightly. Ha! No matter how thick my opponent's neck was, I could never shine. I was a loser from the beginning and I'll always be. The moment I stepped my feet into their world, my destiny was written, I tried to forget it but it wasn't efficient. I sighed for no reason continuously as I had stared at the sky.

The time came to step out again and attend to Wulfsige's class. I wasn't scared of going back but the thought of him beating me like that was holding me back. But I had to leave, I had to attend it, he was the only one who could help me defend myself, he was the one who could help me take my revenge, so I had to leave.

I went to the same place we had gone before, but he wasn't there. I waited for minutes then he finally showed. When he came in and saw me, he stopped for a moment and smiled unpleasantly. I stared at him with my usual cold face as if it was piercing his face. I could tell how annoyed he was because of my glares. He sat on a chair and said: You came back with your own will, you have a death wish or something?

-Are we that close to be discussing my will?

Wulfsige: Heh! You do realize that there's no turning back this time?

-I never intended to step back.

Wulfsige: What you experienced wasn't even one-tenth of what you will go through. You're still young and you can go back and enjoy the normal life of young maidens.

-I'm enjoying my life as it is. Stop worrying about me.

Wulfsige: Ok, so this was the last chance of changing your mind. Now let's begin. There are a few things that you should know, try your best to fulfil the duty you're given to without any dispute but if the table changed and you had to show them who's the boss, finish it with no harm towards you. Try to start with a good strike 'casue that would show the outcome of your battle. It will also give the opponent fear.

-Which is amazingly helpful.

Wulfsige: So you know the drill. Try not to lose your cool, once you show fear they'll strike back, so remember a battlefield is a place of illusions. One wins who can scare the opponent away with no blood shed. That's how we fight here.

You need to defend yourself so you'll be needing some technics. Always go for the joints.

-They're the weak points of a human body.

Wulfsige: Exactly. Among them, the knees are always a good option. Whether it be with bare hands or weapon, aim at the knees.

-They hold the body weight and once they're down, the enemy will be down.

Wulfsige: I've heard you were good at your studies, is that right?

-Guess so.

Wulfsige: It's good to have knowledgeable people around. Things become much easier.

He went on and on and on. He taught me a lot, about how to use my weaknesses against the enemy and not against myself; About how to defend myself and trick the enemy; about the importance of protecting the face and my vital organs.

According to his words, I, as someone who knew about human body, had to analyze all the opponent's behaviors and find the meaning behind them to use for striking. Reading the opponent's actions beforehand was an essential note he kept on emphasizing. Of course it was important. Knowing what the other person might be doing come in handy in everyday life, when you're talking to friends, family, or when you're doing your homework, working…

Everything needs to be predicted, to go smoothly. But it's a wonder why we can't know the way life is going to treat us. If we knew beforehand, maybe our decisions would have become better. Many could have been saved, many would have been able to avoid illnesses, life would be easier but life is not fair. It wasn't and isn't and won't be.

After we finished, I headed to Jeremy. He was waiting for me, as if he was my father who was waiting for me to report how was my day, he was a bit annoying but now, it's different. As I walked in, he surprised with a hug and started to sweet-talk me, but they were in vain. I pushed him away but he did it again while saying: Don't be mean, Raven.

-We're not close enough to hug.

Jeremy: Who cares about that? My dear Raven has come from school so I have to embrace her to let her feel like home.

-I don't need a home, so back off.

Jeremy: Have you eaten yet?

-Stop ignoring me and get off.

Jeremy: You're free so let's go out and have something to eat.

-I'm not coming.

Jeremy: Ok, we won't go on foot.

-Hey!

Jeremy: I'm the boss around here.

He smiled at me and closed his arms tightly around me, it was irritating me but he was way stronger than me to open his arms.
