You let them bully Grandmother!

Leaning back, Abigail sighed, regretting the promise that she had made her grandmother in keeping another secret from everyone, her academic ability, previous scores, and current qualifications.  Studying and reviewing was something she always hated, and the last day had just reinforced things to her.

But grandmother had been right.  The first week at school, there was a day of tests, and something made her remember grandmother's request, and she simply made sure she just did enough to pass overall.  Walking out carrying the meals the day the results came out, showed her grandmother had been right.  The praise that her biological parents were giving Sara for her marks, which were not top of the class, and ridiculing her showed the truth.  She would never be anything other than trash in the eyes of her biological parents, as she had been in the eyes of her foster parents.
