Bella stopped reading it, ''They made a typo here. Not a secretary, they sure are looking for another CEO,'' she mumbled under her breath but just as she was about to put it away, another 'must' caught her attention, ''Must never smile at work…''
The corner of her lips twitched. It was only pity that was left in her heart for the poor thing who will be appointed for this job.
After having her breakfast, Bella wanted to drive around the place but before she could leave the café, she realized something that left her stunned.
She glanced at the phone in her hand. Her clutch...it was left in Niklaus' car.
The waitress standing in front of her glanced at her and Bella massaged her forehead.
She can pay by phone but how the heck will she know the pins?
And she didn't have a single penny on her.
Having never faced a situation like this before, she felt helpless.
"Miss, is there some issue?" the waitress who was waiting to collect the bills could not help but ask.
"I have missed my clutch somewhere," Bella looked at her.
"How about you pay by…"
"I don't remember the pins," she mumbled under her breath and this time, the waitress' expressions turned weird.
"Give me a moment," Bella checked through the phone's contact numbers and almost all the names were unfamiliar to her except 2 names.
First contact was saved as Mom which she concluded to be Rose's mother and 2nd was Rose.
The former slapped her in the morning and it was the very first slap in 25 years of her life. Bella let it be at that time because she understood the current situation but that did not mean she would tolerate that or mingle with that woman ever again.
So, she chose the middle way out and called Rose. The phone continued ringing but she did not pick up the call.
Bella tried it again but again no answer.
"Miss, if you want, I will call the manager," The waitress looked at the woman from head to toe. She looked very elegant and classy but one should not judge a book by it's cover. Even if she forgot the clutch, who forgets their pins? Moreover, this is a high-end café and this will not be the first time when some one pulled such tricks.
Bella's brows tugged together and she was about to say something when her gaze landed on the bracelet sitting on her hand.
"How about this?" she removed it and extended her hand towards the girl, "You can keep this and help me pay the bill. What do you think?"
The bracelet was very simplistic with a small chain like design but it had a diamond dangling from the edge.
It was not some very rare or expensive diamond. But even though it was a common one, diamond being diamond will never be cheap.
The girl hesitated as she looked at the bracelet, "But what if it's not real?" she did not know if she was being conned so she shook her head, "Miss, it has to be cash or card?" A woman who did not have cash and did not know pins, what are the odds she will have a real diamond?
Bella looked around. This was causing a commotion and she could see a person making a video. After all, this looked like a high-end café and commotions like this will still get a place in the corner of tabloids, even if not the headlines.
"Alright, call your manager," Bella fiddled with the ring on her index finger quietly.
"There is no need," an aloof voice resounded in the café and her movements paused.
Hearing the sounds of approaching footsteps, she tilted her head to look at the man who was making his way towards her.
Tall, dark, handsome. Was it a phrase exclusively invented for Niklaus Kingsley? That was the first thought that crossed her mind until he stopped right in front of her, "Had a good meal?" he asked, his oppressive aura turning into a playful one, letting the people around them breath.
Bella nodded, "You didn't leave?"
"I had to come back," he extended his hand towards the waitress, "Make it quick."
The girl was already struck dumb when the man entered the café but her fingers trembled when her gaze landed on the black card.
As they walked out of the café, Bella glanced at Niklaus, ''Why did you come back?"
''You dropped it in the car,'' he threw her clutch and Bella was quick to catch it.
She would have been disfigured if not because of her quick reflexes. She forced a smile, ''Thank you, Mr. Niklaus.''
''No big deal, Miss Bella,'' he got inside the car and Bella was left standing outside the café, watching the retreating car until it was out of her sight. For some reason, she felt he was a bit distant with her. Was he offended by something?
'Even though he lacks a pleasant tongue but he is not that bad' she thought as she glanced at the clutch in her hand.
And in the next moment, a car stopped in front of her, ''Miss Bella.''
Bella snapped out of her daze and glanced at the driver of the black sedan, ''You are…?"
