Cinderella is a Coquettish Green Tea (11)

After the banquet, they spent some time at Lady Ann's manor before finally leaving. The moment they sat in the carriage, the cheerful smile on Cecilia's face fell, and she pouted unhappily.

"Brother, that family is too much. It's evident that cousin Ann is having a hard time there, even that bitch Victoria dares to ignore her, don't think I haven't seen the way the servants look at us."

"As if we are something dirty"

She snorted and rattled off, " What face do they have to look down on my cousin just because she's from a merchant family?"

"Without her family's money, would they still be able to eat and drink as they do now? Relying on her to hold up their face but still want to make my cousin suffer?"

"Who do they think they are?!"

"And that Baron Nore, who doesn't know that her husband brings home a new concubine every other month?"

Xie Han leaned back against the upholstery as the carriage passed through the streets of the capital..

"Didn't you always know it would be like this?"

In the capital and the era of monarchy, there would always exist a chain of contempt between classes.

Nobles carried an innate superiority over merchants and peasants and felt it was below them to associate with their class.

If it wasn't because Lady Ann's husband was incompetent and was on the verge of falling out of the nobility, they would never condescend to marry a lady from a merchant family.

Lady Ann's family was also eager to latch onto the noble figures and married her off in a haste, regardless of how much their daughter would suffer.

Cecilia rolled her eyes, annoyed, "Those snobbish nobles and aristocrats like to look down on merchants as if without our money they can still pretend to be high and mighty

"That slut Victoria is also two-faced, pretending to be affectionate and sending letters, I wouldn't be surprised if she was rolling on Duke Winchester's bed. I heard all his previous wives died because they were tortured to death by his sick fantasies. Only a vulgar person like her would still be with him."

The more she thought about it, the angrier she became, "Brother, hurry up and break up with her."

Xie Han hummed, Cecilia, his sister was a typical vicious cannon fodder stereotype that would be face slapped by the different leads and some things would be distorted in her perception in order to facilitate this.

He couldn't be sure whether the Victoria in her mouth was really like that, there must be a hidden story however it was not time to delve into those details.

The carriage drove detoured through the markets and passed by the place where the "demons" had prostrated themselves, by this time they were gone, most likely driven away by the city guards.

The curtains of the carriage blew up with a sudden wind, and Xie Han cast his gaze onto the long street outside.

All kinds of peddlers were selling, and the carriage turned the corner at the end of the street to leave the market area.

At this moment, he suddenly heard a commotion coming from the front - the sound of approaching horseshoes mixed with the exclamation of pedestrians!

"Get out of the way!"

As soon as he turned his head, he saw a group of men in leather armour galloping up the street, one of them waved a whip fiercely, anyone who was too slow to get out of the way would be whipped severely.

They knocked over carts, crushing the produce that fell to the ground, instantly rendering them useless.

One of the residents fell to the ground and frantically tried to save the things that fell on the ground. When the guards passed by, one of them raised his hands and swung down the whip mercilessly.

Luckily, at the last second, what looked to be her son, lunged forward and dragged the woman away. The guard sneered spat yellow phlegm on the floor at her feet and rode away.

The woman looked at the crushed and dirty fruits on the street and burst into tears, her thin back shaking heavily as she sobbed. "What are we going to do?"

"Without the money, how will we survive..."

Other than her son, no one came to comfort her, only numbly cleaned up the mess, and tried to salvage anything they could.

The carriage they were in passed by the fallen woman and the curtains fell, hiding the sullen reality.

Cecilia only gave a perfunctory glance when she heard the noise before turning her head away and picking up a sweet pastry with delicate fingers, as she urged the driver impatiently, "Hurry up, the smell here is really bad."

Xie Han pulled his gaze away thoughtfully. They did not appear like soldiers but more like private guards. It didn't take long for the carriage to leave the market behind and soon enough they returned to the manor.

It was already late by the time they came back, their mother greeted them at the door gently and Cecilia held her hands and swung it coquettishly,

"Mother, I'm hungry."

She patted the curly blond hair of her young daughter and smiled, "Dinner will soon be served. Go wash up first."

Cecilia cheered and went upstairs but was interrupted by Cinderella coming down.

Cecilia was already in a bad mood because of what happened before, so upon seeing Cinderella, her mood only worsened.

Unexpectedly, Cinderella took the initiative to walk up and speak to Cecilia despite her bad face, "Sister, how was your trip?"

Cecilia's face immediately turned ugly. "I'm not your sister, don't call me that slut."

Cinderella's face turned pale and her thin shoulders trembled, "Sister, sister...I just wanted to know, how"

"I said don't call me that!"

At this point, she knew that she was deliberately disgusting her, Cecilia's eyes were red with anger, and he shouted loudly: "It's none of your business, I'm not your sister!"

"No, no, I'm,"

Cinderella looked up and met the eyes of Xie Han standing at the bottom of the stairs, filled with tears and soft pleading.

Cecilia followed her eyes and saw her looking at her brother, and the fire in her heart ignited,

"After so many years, don't you know your place?

She moved closer to Cinderella aggressively,

"What? Did your bitch mother teach you how to please people like this? It's not bad."

"You can fit right in with the brothel girls."

When Cecilia's father came through the door, this. was the sentence he heard, and his lips couldn't help but turn down,

"Cecilia!"
