The sky was colored gently like a single dap of paint had been spread across a large portion of a canvas just to add a faded texture. The sun was beginning its descent into the next day to bring about the night. The Arena in which the entrance exams had been taken place all day were nearly empty. The audience had been satisfied and had seen what they wished. Those that remained were only secret judges from the Academy, people who wanted to see the final fight, or the few who noticed one contestant that absolutely peaked their interest. Even most of the contestants had left the Arena Lounge to go enjoy the city while there was still daylight. Serathin, Gonzo, Belson and a few other contestants were the only ones left in the lounge, conversing, waiting, watching as the final match was about to begin. "Hey Serathin-" said Gonzo. "-You think this next one will be interesting? I could hear one those 'Adamantalanium' girls talking to someone and I think he's fighting now."
"Ada-what? And you.. heard them??" Asked Serathin in an absolutely baffled and stunned expression.
"Yeah with my ears. What, you can't here that kinda stuff?"
"NO! No that's not normal!! Jeez dude you're about as unique as some kinda discolored crustacean that can't see what color even is!"
"Hehe... sorry."
Ampharos stepped up to the front of the balcony and was clearly more tense yet excited about this final match up. "Ladies and gentlemen who remain. The final fight in the Exams: Satoru Yamada versus Cal Napier."
The moment he heard that name, Serathins eyes widened and he paid close attention to the arena along with some other contestants. Even Belson, who'd not moved a muscle since his fight hours earlier, turned his head and rose to his feet to watch this contestant. The small audience was generally quiet except for a few who began clapping and cheering. "Serathin what the heck's going on?" Asked Gonzo.
"Dude how can you-... never mind it's not your fault. So you remember telling you that those Adamantium mages are the strongest in the world, right? Well that's not exactly true. There's a very rare and highly unknown rank in the mage system. They have so much power that they make the Adamantium mages look like ants compared to them. No one knows how one can get so much power, but it's real. Well that rank is Alexandrite."
"Alexandrite? That's a pretty cool name."
"Yeah well currently only one person holds that rank in all the world. I know nothing about him though other than he's male. But 12 years ago that wasn't the case, there being only one. There were two back then. His name was Iwata Yamada and he was killed 12 years ago. No one knows what happened or who killed him, or who would even be capable. But this guy, Satoru, that's that guys kid, man. Everyone wants to see what the spawn of the strongest can do. Oh shit there he is."
Satoru made his way out to the arena, back faced towards the Adamantium, the audience, and the contestants. He had shiny blonde hair and beautiful golden eyes with white flakes. Everyone noticed, however, that the arena instantly grew much warmer the moment his presence was made. Satoru stared up at the sky, enjoying the colors that the light makes in the sky. "Hey we still got enough sun. Lucky me." Cal stared down at Satoru, a little jealous of the attention he'd been getting. He had no idea why one contestant would get attention like this just by existing. He knew nothing of Satoru's heritage and, therefor, thought he was just being spoiled. "Oh you fuckin brat. Jeez why do you get an applause just by walking? That seems kinda bullshit." He'd say with a cough from inhaling the warm air.
The Adamantium payed very close attention and readied themselves incase any of the audience would get in harms way. Satoru looked briefly at his opponent before turning to the palm of his hand as a small flame formed above it, raising the temperature further. "Sorry I guess. I just want to enjoy the sunlight, that's all."
"Final Round: BEGIN"
Satoru's flame grew massively before he made a swinging motion with his arm from his waist to the opposite shoulder. A massive blast of bright flames shot from Satoru's position and it seemingly instantly swallowed up Cal, then it just as quickly hit the wall of the arena and swallowed it too, melting through everything on contact. It continued onward and began rising towards the sky. The gigantic blast finally ended on Satoru's end before following along the trial of absolutely searing fire into the sky before it exploded, creating the visuals of a small supernova, making a show of lights appear in the sky. The blast was so big it caused the entire arena to shake heavily like a large earthquake. The Adamantium mages had to release the proper cold spells to counter the attacks unbelievable heat output. Satoru lowered his hand back down to his waist and and thatched as he saw not only was his opponent burnt to a crisp, but half of the entire, massive arena was completely destroyed to nothing more but a few pebbles on the ground. The heat remained in the arena and effected the city minimally as well.
Everyone was in pure silence except for Avery Valentine. She clapped her hands together causing a large flower to rise from the ground and bloom. It dropped some nectar onto Cal and it began healing him to perfect health. His burns were gone and any other physical damage was recovered. He wouldn't even receive a scar from what just happened. The oversized flower slowly made its way back into the ground as she jumped from the balcony and gracefully glided through the air towards the body on the ground. She pressed two fingers against Cal's neck to check for a pulse. "His pulse is present. Jeez. Why'd you have to go on and do such a thing to this poor gentleman?" Valentine asked towards Satoru.
"I'm... sorry. I'm not really sure I guess. The suns going down soon so I thought I'd have less power than I did." He replied. In the background Ampharos was finishing off his speech and the crowed echoed, but all Satoru saw was the unconscious body on the ground of his defeated opponent. He kept remembering the day he saw his father die. It was as if it happened yesterday.
"I'll carry him to the infirmary. You please go back inside and await the results." Said Valentine. Satoru snapped back into reality and met her eyes with his. "Yes ma'am. I apologize." He said blankly. He turned around and made his way inside the contestant lounge. There he'd see everyone staring at the door, looking him down in shock after what they had just seen. Gonzo was most shocked, more than anyone. He jumped up to Satoru and forced their hands together. "Hey! My names Gonzo. Yo what WAS that that we just saw? What did you do? What kinda magic you got? Where ya from?" He'd say. He'd ramble on asking questions as Serathin grabbed him and pulled him back to the group. Satoru stood there in a daze.
3 Hours Later
The night had been born once again such as every other day. It's stars shined down on the world but also hid away the darkness that lurked on every corner of said world. Serathin was traversing the hallways to search for an exit. As he walked around he heard voices off in the distance. When he turned the corner to see who it was he found 3 males and a female all circled around Satoru Yamada, who was currently pinned against a wall by one of the males. He was bruised and scraped, obviously from this group. "Wow kiddo. You know I hate people like you; always acting all high and mighty and getting special treatment from others just because of someone you're related to. I don't care about your daddy being an 'Alexmandrine' or whatever, but I do care about how because of it you get treated differently. It pisses me off!"
After those words he'd immediately throw a right hook to Satoru's face and a left to his rib cage. He coughed out in pain and looked back up at the bully with a blank expression, as if this bored him. "Stop talking about my dad." He said. The bully rocked his arm back to punch him again before being grabbed by Serathin. The bully's arm was stopped dead in its tracks. The bully could barely move now.
"Stop! You've no right to be hitting another contestant around like this. It's not right!" He'd sternly tell them. Satoru, the same person who destroyed half of the entire colosseum, made a miniature supernova, and released heats so intense it made high-ranking mages go to action, was now being bullied by 4 contestants who couldn't even win their bland, boring match-ups. And Satoru was clearly struggling and fighting back. What the hell Serathin though. How could he do that... and not even fight these people?
The bully threw back another arm to punch Serathin but was quickly met with powerful electric shocks to be sent throughout the bullies entire body. His goons stepped back as a defense mechanism. They quickly made their way away from Serathin and Satoru. Serathin dropped the bully and turned to Satoru, who was already patting himself down. "Thanks, man." He said.
".....no problem. Hey why were they doing that?" Serathin asked.
"It's cuz they think I'm better or something, I don't know. Wasn't really paying attention to them the whole time." Satoru replied.
"And that! How did you manage to do what you did during the exams, and yet these dumbasses turn you into a rag doll?"
Satoru begins walking beside him, calm as ever. "Sun Magic" he said. Serathin quickly follows beside him as they walked through the inn they were staying at.
"Sun Magic? What kind of magic is that? I've never heard of it."
"It's my magic ability. Sun Magic. Its my weapon. It's a very rare and hardly ever seen form of magic from what I hear, though the worlds a big place."
"The kind of magic you have doesn't explain how you were just getting manhandled by bafoons. I have water and lightning magic but I still know how to handle business when it happens."
"Sun Magic doesn't just work like that. Sun Magic gets stronger as the time gets closer to noon when the the suns light is strongest against the earth beneath us. Afterwards it gets gradually weaker until the sun is gone. At the point I'm basically just a regular human. I have a sword but it's weird to use. I might show it one day."
"Huh... so that's how you're magic works huh? Yeah I've never heard about it.... WAIT! If that's what you can do as the sun is going down than what the hell can you do exactly?"
"Man... some crazy things. I wish I could show people but my heat is too strong for them to even be a couple miles away coming the closer to noon I get. I've only ever used it once actually: the form I get at noon. It's fun atleast."
"Man you're pretty strong, huh? You just had to meet the age requirements to get in."
"I do still train, you know. I just train a lot, but I guess my magic is gift."
"Yeah no kidding."
"You should be getting Storm magic soon, right? That's usually what people get with water and lightning."
"Yeah. My water and lightning magic should fuse together soon and I honestly can't wait for it."
The two made it back to Satoru's room. Satoru opened the door and allowed Serathin inside. Serathin was astonished to see a very large, very tall, very thick yet also insanely sharp buster sword leaning on the wall of Satoru's room. "W-WHAT THE HELLS THAT?"
"It's my sword, Dahyra. Told you it was pretty strange to use. I couldn't pick it up now even if I wanted to."
"Dude how'd you get that in here? No men could get this up those stairs."
Satoru shackled and began running through his closet for a change of clothes. "Magic."
Serathin stood there in awe before sighing and turning away. "Hey Satoru... what's up with your dad?"
"Not much. He passed away 12 years ago I guess but it's whatever. Why?"
"No, I mean about his rank. Alexandrite? Really?"
"Oh yeah. Dude was crazy powerful. They claimed him to be the next Savior of the World and all the Adamantium of the time claimed him to be invincible. I know nothing else of it. He was just... my dad. It was nice."
Serathin put his hands in his pocket and leaned against a wall. "Hm. Hey speaking of which what do you think of our judges? Those Alexandrite?"
Satoru flipped all those clothes around his arm and walked in front of his bathroom door before stopping. "They're really unique to say the least. One is the incarnate of purity, another dresses like she's the worlds female gift from the gods, another dude looks like water, the other looks like he'd knock out elder dragons drunk, and the only normal-looking one can't talk without slice-n-dicing your ass. So in all they are fun. It was nice Serathin."
Satoru walked inside his bathroom and gently closed the door behind him. Everything about this guy made Serathin curious. He wanted to know more about him. Seeing how strong he was, and knowing that it's nothing compared to his 100%, it all made him rather excited to have met the guy.
The Next Morning
The next Morning as the sun rose above the now perfectly rebuilt colosseum, the contestants had all gathered together in a large mass formation. It was about half of how many contestants there were the day before. Any contestant that lost and didn't prove themselves, quit, or just left for whatever reason had all left the town already in the middle of the night. Standing in the colosseum now was only those who the judges had all decided were able to be accepted into the academy as an official student. Serathin and Gonzo had been standing next to eachother as usual while Belson and Satoru were by themselves in silence. The judges all sat at their chairs and watched the new students as Ampharos made his way to the front of the balcony.
"My future mages... thank you for showing yourselves worthy among the best confidantes we could find. Your future journey as you travel the world will be like no other! You will defeat the evil of this world and be the new light for all things that live with honor. Please do not disappoint me or you're future House-leaders. One by one they will all stand up and give a list of who belongs in which house. This will be decided by your magic and the way you fight and tactically use yourself. We shall start with Valentine and go down the line to Kazin. Please, begin."
The beautiful Valentine stood up from her chair and pulled a paper from her clothing. "The new students of House Gaia is-" she'd go down the list and, once your name was said, you would make your way inside the colosseum to meet your new Leader. The list made it across the Adamantium. With Valentine the men were happy and the women were satisfied. This is far more exaggerated than how it is explained. With Nick people were a little worried if they ever had to talk to him. With Hendricks people were scared they might die. With Azazel the men were quaint and the woman we're excited since Azazel was a strong, independent, highly revered woman. Then Kazin's list came and all 4 of our primary males realized one thing. They were still out in the open.
"Up first: Satoru Yamada." No surprise there. Satoru displayed himself with power unlike anyone else this year and had the fastest time of any fighter. "Belson." After the way he instantly took care of his opponent on the field it no wonder he'd be here. "Gonzo" he was so creative and flexible when he fought. He not only showed power, but showed he surpassed the senses. "Serathin." He was very smart with his combination of attacks and unique rapid fighting style. His speed is no laughing joke either.
"That's all".
WHAT?!?!
That's what everyone, including the four chosen and other judges, was thinking. Only 4? Kazin was expected greatly by the Adamantium to have the least students due to his rigorous training, but the fact that he picked only 4 was astounding. Ampharos stepped up and waved as the students made their way into their respective rooms. The 4 chosen by Kazin all went to a designated room where they'd be seated on fine couches. They sat back and just as quickly stood up as they stared down this large, fit, powerful man walk into the room shortly after them. They all stared him down, wondering what was going to happen. And then they noticed him reach for something attached to his back. They quickly realized what he was grabbing was his sword.
