Dad's Little Secret

Gu Chen remained silent for a moment. He knew his son was telling the truth. No matter how hard it might be to take. It was the truth. They can never be truly free unless they become the strongest. And, Gu Chen isn't someone with a narrow mind.

He knows there will always be someone better than you but you might not just have enough potential to keep up. He sighed.

"How are you planning to explain this to the village? You aren't planning to tell them the truth, are you?"

Gu Tan smiled and nodded his head.

"Yes, I am planning to tell them the truth. But, the truth that they perceive as truth is false in our eyes but for the rest of the world, it is indeed the truth. Of course, I am not going to do this just for the sake of completing the lie."

"It is a way to help them awaken the elemental vein while completing the lie."

His words made Gu Chen narrow his eyes.

"Wait, you mean this false treatment is actually a way to awaken the elemental veins?"

Gu Tan nods his head.

"Yep! Didn't I tell you there are hidden diamonds in the dirt? We just have to find it. First thing first, we need all of the adults above the age of fourteen to awaken the elemental veins. Only when the citizens live, the kingdom lasts long."

"I am going to hide the village under the veil of lie and then transform it in four years. I am not going to take shortcuts because when the foundation is weak, the building will collapse instantly. We need to start from the foundation and we need to make it stronger."

Gu Chen raises his hands and puts them behind his head.

"Well, I am not that good with politics but it seems your father truly taught you everything. Anyway, that's a good thing. Now, I don't have to worry about anything else. Just do your best and I will do my best."

Gu Tan slowly smiles and bites his lips.

"Okay, since you are healed up, let's meet with the Village Chief Pu and complete the agreement. If possible, we need to leave today."

"Nah! I want to rest for a while. You go and complete the agreement." Gu Chen shook his head and denied it. He slowly closed his eyes.

Gu Tan felt a slight change in his tone but he decided to ignore it. After all, he didn't expect his father to accept him lying to everyone even if it is for the sake of something good. He stood up and left the room.

As soon as he left, Gu Chen opened his eyes and muttered.

"Do I have to go back there?"

He slowly put down his arms and turned around.

"Hah! Son, you are giving your father a hard time. If fate is not under my control, should I just let it flow? Do I have to go back there?"

Outside the door, Gu Tan was removing the sound barrier when he heard his father's mumbling. He turned around as he slimed and muttered "It seems dad is holding some secrets."

At this moment, his eyes turned a bit shallow as he started thinking.

'I never got to know my parents properly in my previous life. Mother can't use her remaining cultivation since it will not only deteriorate her cultivation but also her health. Father didn't have that much strength.'

'But, I have always wondered. Why did I survive? I lost my consciousness in the middle of the slaughter and when I woke up, everyone was dead. The enemies and my people, no one survived. But, then why did I survive. Previously, I wondered about this question every single night.'

'But, it seems everything makes clear now. Mother wasn't weak but she couldn't use her powers since it would kill her. To keep me alive, she didn't hesitate to use her power. I don't blame her for not using her powers earlier.'

'She has every bit of right to be selfish. She is not a hero but for me, she is everything. If she hadn't died, I would've found out about my bloodline at the age of fourteen. That must be the reason why she saved her bloodline in a bottle.'

'She knew my martial soul will erase my bloodline to remove the limitation. Originally, my bone structure was too swallow and my bloodline limitation could easily hamper my growth. But, now, my bloodline no longer has the limitation and my bone structure is also strong and my martial soul is not crippled either.'

'In this life, I have everything that I dreamed of in my previous. I am not going to lose anything. Every step that I take must be in order. I can't make changes too many changes in the timeline.'

While thinking to himself, Gu Tan came out of the hotel and walked towards Pu Zhen's house. His house was quite close to his office so he just had to walk for a few minutes.

When he reached in front of the house, he saw Captain Youko commanding the guards around the house. Captain Youko also saw him and immediately rushed in front of him. He slightly bowed down.

"Greetings Village Chief Gu! Are you here to meet Village Chief?"

Gu Tan nodded his head and asked "Is Village Chief Pu fine now?"

His question made Youko a little conflicted to answer. He rubbed his forehead and spoke.

"Actually, we haven't met him. Madam doesn't allow anyone to visit him. She is quite overprotective."

Gu Tan sighed after hearing his words.

"It seems I can't meet him today."

"No, no, you can try. I mean madam might allow Village Chief Gu to meet him. It's just... I am not sure." Captain Youko sighed once again as he stopped Gu Tan from returning. In fact, he really wanted to check on Pu Zhen but he wasn't allowed to go in.

Gu Tan suspiciously stared at Captain Youko but still decided to follow him. Both of them reached in front of the house and knocked on the door. For a moment, there was no sound coming from inside. But soon, an angry roar came from inside.

"How many times did I say this? DON'T DISTURB US!"

[Master, duck!]

Suddenly, the door opened and Long Hua's voice rang in his head. Without even hesitating for a second, Gu Tan ducked and a pan fly out of the house.

Bang!

It flew straight and struck the back of the guard standing in front of the gate.

"Madam wait! This is Village Chief Gu. He is here to talk something important to our Village Chief." Captain Youko hurriedly rushed in front of Gu Tan and started introducing him.

Behind him, Gu Tan's eyebrows twitched. He was indeed suspicious but didn't expect to be used as an excuse to meet the Village Chief. After all, if he gets injured, Pu Zhen's wife will definitely get guilty and allow them to meet him.

At least, this was his plan but it failed.

[Hua, are you using your soul power all the time?] Gu Tan asked in his mind.

[Yes, master!] Long Hua excitedly spoke and her tone was telling him to praise her.

[Although I feel grateful, save your soul power. I might need it in true danger.] Unfortunately, Gu Tan had no intention to praise her. He instead reminded of her something he had already told her to do.

This made Long Hua bitter. She pulled back her soul power and started recuperating. She couldn't blame Gu Tan for this either. After all, soul power takes a long time to recover and can be emptied instantly. That's why Gu Tan wants her to keep recovering as much as possible.

Who knows when he might need her the most?

At this moment, the woman standing next to the door stared at Gu Tan. She was quite tall, nearly seven or eight inches taller than him. She was wearing a red dress that perfectly wraps around her thin and curvy body.

She had two puns in her head, tied with sharp pins. She turned her head at Youko and coldly spoke.

"My husband is injured. So, anyone wants to meet him, wait till he recovers."

Bang!

Saying so, she slams the door. Youko blinks his eyes twice. He didn't expect her to be so cold to another village chief.

"It's alright. We can visit him later." Gu Tan sighed and decided not to interfere. He found some resemblance of his own mother in her. Both seem extremely caring to their husband and he knows why he must not interfere.

This is a core lesson he learned at an early age. But just when he turned around, he heard a loud roar from the house and also heard the footstep.

"Wait, what? How could you tell Village Chief Gu to go away? Damn you, woman!"

Tap! Tap! Tap!

Instantly, his expression dropped.

'Shit! I chose the wrong time.'
