I'm Okay

mother: "Are you okay Ian? You keep on trembling inside."

Ian: "Yeah, I'm good."

Even my words are trembling. This is not good at all.

mother: "So you really aren't emotionally ready. Is that even a thing these days? Back then your father was straightforward and confessed to me publicly."

I didn't know that. Dad must be really a man back then.

Ian: "I guess I didn't inherit dad's genes. By the way mom can't you really walk? You're always in a wheelchair everytime I visit you."

mother: "What a silly question. Of course I can walk you think I'm that fragile. It's just that I get tired easily."

There's her fake smile again. It seems she can't really walk.

???: "Ian"

Ian: "Oh hey Keith. What do you want?"

Keith: "Hello Mrs.Tucker."

mother: "Hello Keith active as always I guess."

Keith: "Yes, by the way Ian do you want to go to the mall? They have the a sale for the new game. And um-. Wait, is that Naomi? Should I invite her?"

Ian: "Wait, why though?

Keith: "I don't know. The more the merrier?

Ian: "That's not a valid re-"

mother: "Why don't you invite her?"

Ian: "Mom, why are you siding with Keith?"

mother: "Because why shouldn't you Ian?"

Uh, she winked.

Keith: "Is that okay Mrs.Tucker?"

mother: "I don't know you should ask Naomi and her grandmother."

Keith: "That's your cue Ian."

Ian: "Why me? Aren't you the one who wants to invite her?"

mother: "Ian you should do it. You know her more than Keith."

I barely even know her.

Keith: "Go Ian the sale is only for the day."

Ian: "Fine"

Sheesh why am I the one that's supposed to do it?

Naomi: "Yes, sure. Oh, Ian what brings you here?"

Ian: "Um, the thing is Keith I mean we want to invite you to the mall. We were going to buy a game which is on sale."

Naomi: "Oh you mean that. I'll ask my little brother to take care of grandma."

Ian: "I mean if you can't go then I won't force you."

Please don't go. Please don't go.

Naomi: "No, no, no I can go. My little brother said he can take care of grandma. We can wait for 5 minutes before he arrives."

No!

Ian: "Sure, we can wait. We'll wait for you in the coffee shop near the entrance."

Naomi: "Okay see you later then."

This is frustrating. I thought this day is gonna be normal again.

Keith: "How did it go Ian?"

Ian: "She will go but we have to wait before his brother arrives."

Keith: "Okay, let's wait at the coffee shop near the entrance."

Ian: "That's what I said to her."

-At the coffee shop-

Their coffee sure tastes good. It's already been more than 10 minutes.

Keith: "Hey Ian isn't that Naomi's brother. He really has a girlfriend for a young age."

Naomi's brother looks decent. He must be a playboy. I think.

Keith: "You still look more handsome than him."

Ian: "What does that mean? Are you into me or something?"

Keith: "I mean maybe. Just kidding I have someone I like but she seems into you. So I guess I don't have a chance."

Why me? Even my best friend is jealous of me. I can't take this anymore.

Ian: "You want me to set you up?"

Keith: "You can do that? I'll feel bad so I won't force you to."

Ian: "I don't mind if it's for you."

Keith: "Really? Thanks Ian. There's Naomi let's see her outside.
