chapter 11: destruction

"Duncan we need to go." Denzil said as he changed back and took a step and fell to the ground holding his chest

"Hey what's wrong?!" James said as he came over to him and his guns changed back

"It's nothing I'll be alright."

"Nothing my ass!"

"It's the contract isn't it." Arana said

"Yes." He replied

"Why didn't you say anything!" Duncan yelled

"I didn't want to trouble you."

"Well that doesn't matter anymore, we have to get out of here." Arana said

"She's right, come on." James said

"Duncan let me tell you something I saved you when you were a kid." Denzil said

"Why didn't you tell me a long time ago?" Duncan asked

"You didn't need to know yet." Denzil said "I wanted to keep it safe for just a little longer."

Then a shot was fired toward them and it was heading toward Duncan, but Denzil got in the way and fell to the ground.

"Denzil!" Duncan yelled as he looked down at him and got down to him

"I'm alright." Denzil said

"Duncan, his contract." Wateru said as she changed out of her weapon form

"Oops, I shot the wrong one." someone said as they came out

"Who are you?" James asked

"Well I'm the one who is going to kill you." he said as he pointed to Duncan

"Duncan, I can still move." Denzil said as he got up and as he got up something was flowing out of him

"If you move too much your magic will flow out of you quicker because those are made to kill you people." the man said

"Why are you doing this?" James asked

"To get money. You are her son right?" the man asked

"Whose son?" Wateru asked

"You are Leasa's son right?" the man asked

"How does he know my mom's name?" Duncan asked himself

Denzil ran in front of the man.

"Go away." Denzil said as he summons his swords and swung them at him

Duncan got up and noticed that there was a magic trail of Denzil's magic leading to the man. Denzil said something to the man and Duncan tried to read his lips and it looked like he was saying "You have no right to speak her name".

"Oh, now I get it. So is that a tough situation, for now, is it?" The man asked

"Shut..it." Denzil tried to say as he fell to the ground and his swords disappeared

"Well part of my job is done well, goodbye." the man as he disappeared

"Denzil!" they all yelled as they came over to him

"Well you are still causing problems aren't you." a woman said as she teleported in front of them with a gun at her side and a sword

"Who are you?" James asked

"Lane, how will he be?" she asked as her gun changed

"Mom! What are you doing here?" Duncan asked

"Well looking after you." she said

"Well, he isn't going to make it if we sit here." Lane said as he picked Denzil up

"Go on ahead." she said

"Right." he said as he disappeared

"Well we should get going as well but we might have to walk." she said

"How far are we going?" James asked

"Into the mountains that aren't that far from here." she said, "That's a good hour walk."

"What about Denzil!" Arana yelled

"Don't worry he'll be okay. After all, my mom's companions have been staying there for the last thirteen years (she left when he was five) without her." Duncan said

"What do you-" James said as Arana put her hand in front of his mouth and shook her head

"Well we better get going, we don't have all day." Duncan said as he started walking

"I guess he still hates me." Leasa said

"Duncan, I'm here to get you." Lane said as he appeared in front of him

"Take one of my friends then come back when they are all gone." Duncan said

"Alright." he said

"Guys call your weapons you're going home (Duncan's house)." Duncan said

"What do you mean?" Wateru asked

"Alright then." Arana said as she called Wateru's name (Peace)

Then James called Mili (Leaf) and Clara (Ava).

"Are you ready to go?" Lane asked

"Yes." they both said

"Ok." he said as he came over and grabbed their hand and disappeared

"Duncan, do you hate me?" Leasa asked

He did say anything then Lane came back for him.

"Alright, then Lane take him. I will get there by myself with Leon." Leasa said

"Ok." Lane said as he disappeared with Duncan

"Leon, what do you think I did wrong?" Leasa asked

"I don't know what you mean." he said as he changed to his human form

"Has he always hated me since I left him?" she asked

"That is for you to ask." he said

"But how do I ask?" she said

"I don't know." he said

"Alright then take me home." she said

"Ok." he said as he came over to her and teleported

"Denzil you shouldn't be moving!" Arana yelled

"No, I have to go and get Duncan!" Denzil yelled back

"What happened to Duncan?" Leasa asked

"He just ran out as soon as he got here." James said

"Is it my fault?!" Denzil yelled

"No, it's not." Arana said

"But then why doesn't he want to come near me?!" Denzil yelled

Leasa came over to him. "It'll be ok. You have to give him some time."

"But I'm dying." Denzil whispered to her

"You can tell them when Duncan comes back." Leasa said as looked at him

A few hours later Denzil was sitting there with a special type of bandage on his contract.

"Duncan still hasn't come back yet." Terra (sorry didn't introduce him he is a lance weapon) said as he came over to Leasa

"I'm going to go look for him." Denzil said as he came into the room

"You can't, look at you. You even said that you are dying!" Leasa yelled

"I know but I just can't leave him." Denzil said as he walked away

"He is a pain just like before." Leasa said

"Leave him." Lane said

Denzil got out of the house and started running.

"I think I know where you are."

With Duncan.

"Just like back then I was useless and I am now."

"Duncan!" Denzil yelled as he ran over to him

"No you should be resting, not be here."

"Well shouldn't you be at home?"

"What do you mean?"

"Trust me. But first let me tell you something."

"Yes?"

"How much of your past do you remember?"

"Very little. Why?"

"It was me that messed with your memories."

"Why would you do that!"

"It was to keep you safe and what I promised."

"From my mother, wasn't it?"

"No it was with you. You asked me to keep you safe always, so when it came down to it I altered your memories with your mother's help so you wouldn't remember what happened that day."

"That day what do you mean?"

"You came in contact with me (he still looks the same as he does now) which was never meant to be. I was in battle when I stumbled up next to you. You nearly got killed, luckily your mothers weapons were nearby to help you and me, after the attacker ran away I fell unconscious and she took me to your home."

"What do you mean by never meant to be?"

"My original contractor died from poison which they blamed me for so I fled. When I fell unconscious that is when I technically was dying and when I woke up your mother was the first person to ask what happened."

"You know what, why not tell everyone together that way it is easier to do."

"Um alright."

As they both started walking back.

"Hey, why did I ask you to keep me safe?"

"That is not important just as long as I kept my promise to you."

"Ok?"

They got back to the house where Leasa was standing.

"Was beginning to think that you got lost." She said as she came over to them

"Not really." Duncan said as Leasa came over to him

She hugged him and said "I'm sorry."

"?"

Somewhere else.

"Is it done?"

"Got the wrong one but I think it would do the same as his contractor from before."

"Don't test it."

"Well come on, let's get out of here." As he walked away

Back with Duncan and the others.

"Why are you hugging me?"

"My guess is he already told you about messing with your memories."

"I haven't gotten to it just yet." Denzil said

"I see. Well, let's go in and tell everyone together."

They went in and everyone was waiting.

"Duncan, you're ok." Arana said

"Hey since everyone is here, time to get this over with." Denzil said

He told everyone and said "Duncan, when we went back to the place I met you, me and your mom had to make a deal with my attackers not to hurt you but only if I came with them."

"So you sacrificed yourself to save me."

"Yes but I just can't escape fate."

Alright I want to finish this up but my ideas for this are low. I wanted to make a book 2 for this but it isn't happening. I also have other books I've been working on in-between. So i'm sorry for the abrupt ending and I copied and pasted from my google doc
