Chapter 2.5: Wendy's Notes 1

"Scrub scrub scrub"

"Wipe wipe wipe....phew."

"There we go. All clean now."

I wipe the sweat off my forehead before picking up the rags I was using and dumping them in the bucket of water I placed by the window.

Even though there's nothing but a black void outside, clean windows are still an important thing to maintain in any high building

"On to the other side then"

After replacing the rags and water, I start to clean the windows on other side too.

Taking care of a building like this by myself is hard work but I don't mind. This place has done so much for me and I do love it with all my heart. Not just from the "services" they provide which I'm also allowed to use, but also because of all the new people I get to meet. Then again due to the anomalous nature of this place, it's not like we'll be able to hire anyone to help with the cleaning and managing anyway.

What about me you say? Well that's a story for another time.

Speaking of people, the hotel has given another person the honor of being one of our beloved customers. Mr. Kotaro seemed a little mean at first but after proving the legitimacy of this place, he was actually somewhat easy to get along with.

I do feel bad for eating his food but I just couldn't help it since I rarely get the chance to eat food from Earth. Though that's not to say the food that "The Boss" provides isn't good or anything. Eating food from one's homeland just feels more special to the point that I was actually tearing up and sniveling as I was eating those meat buns.

I promise myself I'm going to return the favor one of these days. Like maybe give him a taste of my cooking. I do remember quite a few recipes that some of the customers taught me. And there should be no issue asking "The Boss" for ingredients. Yeah that sounds like a good plan.

Again I finish cleaning the windows on this side. As I'm about to throw out the water, I hear the bell ring.

"Oh a customer"

I quickly wipe my hands and head to the counter.

"Welcome to the Crossworld Hotel!"

"Yo Wendy what's up!"

I was greeted by a young man with messy blonde hair and a star tattoo below his left eye. He was also wearing a black jacket with a red shirt underneath.

"Oh hi Mark. You gonna book a room tonight?"

"Hell yeah! I was agonizing all day who to do it with tonight. And I decided why not have a threesome with Sophitia and Cassandra ....Oh just thinking about plowing those two is already making my di-"

" Please no describing your fantasies in the lobby. It makes me feel awkward" I say in an deadpan tone

"Ah sorry my bad. Anyways set me up for eight hours. It's my day off tomorrow so I can just catch up on sleep by then."

"You know you're gonna ruin your sleep schedule like that"

"Ehhhh it'll be fiiine"

"Okay but don't say I didn't warn you"

After receiving his payment, I give him the key to his room.

"Well then see ya Wendy! Let's go play Mario kart once I'm done!! " Mark waves goodbye as he heads to the second floor.

"Sigh...is he even gonna have enough energy left for that? I seriously worry about that guy sometimes"

After Mark leaves, two other people descend from the stairs. It was as a middle aged man and a woman. The two them seemed to be talking.

The man was kinda short, overweight but muscular and had a thick beard. He wore blue overalls over his white shirt.

The woman was a mature beauty with shoulder length black hair. She was wearing a red dress that does a good job accentuating her curves.

"I'm telling you Li, you should give the local brands a try. They have more kick than that fancy wine of yours" The man says

"Ha ha interesting but I'll have to pass. I do have an image I have to maintain. I don't know what story the press might make up if they caught me drinking cheap alcohol in a pub somewhere" The woman replies

"Bah! You celebrities and your self image. I say if you wanna get drunk of your ass, then you should do so!"

"I wish it was that simple my friend."

I greet them again as when the two of them approach the counter.

"Good evening Mr. Eric and Ms. Li. Did you enjoy your stay tonight?"

"Do you even need to ask my girl! Of course we did! Anyway here's my keys" Mr. Eric hand me his room key.

"And here's mine" Ms. Li follows suit

"Thank you for your patronage! I hope you visit us again soon!!" I then give a grateful bow.

"Oh by the way Wendy, I'd there's something I'd like to give you." Ms. Li takes her briefcase from the luggage area. She opens it and hands me some bottles of skincare products.

"Oh Ms. Li! I couldn't possibly take them!!"

""Now girl you've got that natural beauty going on for you. It would be a sin not to take care of it"

"Yeah but these things look pretty expensive. I'd feel really bad using these."

"Oh just take em Wendy... Li and I know how hard you work just to keep this place running. Consider it as a reward for a job well done"

I couldn't think of anything to say. I still don't think I should take these but after seeing both Ms. Li and Mr. Eric's grateful smiles, I just couldn't refuse anymore.

"Well if you insist. I'll be glad to accept them..Thank you Ms. Li" I give her a sincere bow

"Don't worry about it! I'll bring you some more if they run out" Ms. Li puts on her shades before heading out the door.

"Well see ya next week Wendy. I can't really give you a similar gift with my meager income but I promise to get you something one of these days." Mr. Eric says as he too leaves

"Oh no you really don't need to- aaaand he's gone" I just give an exasperated sigh

This place doesn't really get a lot of customers. But the one's we've gotten has always treated me really kindly even if we do have our occasional disagreements. And seeing as I'm all by myself in running this building, I've started to see them as a family of sorts.

And today we got a new member. I hope I could get along with him too just like with the others.

I then look at the products Ms. Li gave me. I'm not really familiar with these kind of things but they all smelled really good. I couldn't help but smile while checking out the all the different scents.
