Chapter 22

[Ammy]

I walked downstairs and headed to the kitchen. The maids were busy preparing dinner and I wanted to join them since I was just so free at the moment.Infact I had been free the whole day.If I wasn't walking around the house like a confused lady looking for something I had no idea of,then I was watching some documentaries or buried in my phone definitely doing nothing important.

"Hey Colbert, can I join?"I asked calmly stepping inside the kitchen. They all turned and looked at me with surprise in their eyes making me wonder if I said something worth the expressions they gave me.

"Well madam, that's not necessary...and we are almost done anyways and master won't like the idea,"the man spoke with a smile and I simply nodded and returned his smile before walking away.It seems they feared that master of theirs quite alot which I didn't find so nice.Employees were to be free with their employers but I guess not in the world of the stinking rich.I walked back to the lounge and sat on the couch. It was so boring at this place and so silent.Am also quite sure I haven't told you it the boring colors in the house. It was either black or grey, that is the curtains and all that. The place was very beautiful but the colors were just adding to the boredom of the house.I decided to watch a movie from Netflix as I waited for dinner to get ready.I picked a movie named Sisters and started watching.

"You like watching?"I heard Max ask from behind.

"Yeah,"I responded without looking at his side.

"That suits you,"he continued and I turned and looked at him wondering what that meant.

"And what's that supposed to mean?"

"Watching is for those who have no goals in life you know and you look like you have none,"he answered calmly as if what he was saying was some pleasant thing to hear. His words hurt quite well but I couldn't show that to that arrogant man.He had snatched my life from my own hands and he dare say I have no goals in life!?

"Oh... really?....I never knew that but I don't think I need a goal in life if that's what watching means to you,"I answered with a smile.I knew this arrogant man was just trying to get me pissed off for a reason I don't but as I said earlier,I won't let him turn my life into a living nightmare than he already has.Max chuckled before landing his gaze on me and I didn't the same.We were still gazing into each other's face when Colbert informed us that dinner was ready and the table already prepared.

"Thank you Colbert,"I responded as if I already was the owner of the mansion.Max got up and and headed for the dinning room and I followed him.We took our seats at the table as the appetizing smells of the foods hit our nostrils. The food consisted of egg coated baked pasta, sauce and we'll seasoned chicken breasts.I stood from my seat and went to Max who sat opposite me before he could even get a plate to serve himself.

"Let me serve you Max,"I spoke and smiled at him my best smile ever. The man looked at me with his expressionless face as I got to work before serving myself. We both ate quietly until we were done with our meal.We both headed to the bedroom and laid on the bed.

"Max?" I called to him after a long while of silence.I even thought he might be asleep but I tried anyway. The lights were already off at that time

"Hhhm" he responded calmly but his voice filled the room like an echo.It was that deep.

"When will I get to see my sister?"I asked. The man besides me stayed quiet for a while before answering my question with another question.

"When do you think we should get married?"he asked instead.I turned my head to his side shocked by his question.

"W-what do you mean b-by that?"

"You will get to see her as soon as we get married....so when do you want us to get married?"he continued calmly.

"Let's get married even tomorrow,"I almost shouted my answer as I found his hands and held them mine.Max's palms were too soft to be man's.He remained quiet for a while before responding.

"Maybe we should go to the family mansion tomorrow and let them decide the day for the engagement and then the wedding,"Max answered and I squeezed his hands tightly with joy.I just wanted to be with my sister or just see her for the meantime and Max's words brought a ray of hope again.

"Thank you."I murmured to him before laying back on the bed.
