Chapter 48

Andy got into the house and ran to her bedroom. She laid on the bed facing the ceiling.Max's words kept on ringing in her head.

"If Ammy is here then why hasn't she even looked for me?"she asked herself tears trickling from the corner of her eyes.

"She definitely didn't come because she doesn't love me at all,"she continued,"I shouldn't even worry myself if she doesn't care about me then why should I?...and she is the reason why mummy is dead now,"she continued wiping off her tears and got off the bed and went downstairs.Just then, Richard entered the house.

"Hey beauty,"he greeted her while hugging her tightly.

"Hey Richie...how was work today?"she asked him as he freed her from his tight embrace.

"Pretty cool..."he responded,"and how was your day?"

"It was great..."she responded and he nodded gently at her.

"Can't wait to know what made your day so great....so talk later, will be in my room,"he told her and went upstairs to his room.

Andy joined Leon who was still watching.

"So how was the day...with your friends?"Leon asked after a long while of silence between them.

"It was really good Leon,"she responded faking enthusiasm.

"Am glad you had fun, but who are these friends of yours?....you hardly leave the house so how did you make friends?"Leon asked curiously.Andy stared at him for a while before responding.

"I go to school to make friends as well not only learning,"she retorted at him.

"Oh... alright,"came Leon's answer. She would have definitely told him the truth but she was only free with Richard and she couldn't share anything with anyone else except him but she wouldn't even dare tell him about meeting with Maxwell.

'Atleast not so soon,'she thought to herself.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Three weeks had already passed by without the lovers talking to each other.Ammy was definitely doing fine since she wasn't even sure if she loved him yet or she was just doing her best to be with her sister but Max wasn't.Each day was a missment day for him and Ammy's face was glued into his mind. That night he decided to hang out with his friends to get his mind distracted.

"How does it feel knowing that you will be getting married in just a week time?"Miguel asked holding his wine glass in his hand.

"And that to the woman you love..."Vivan completed the sentence Max sipped some wine from his glass then parted his lips to talk.

"It really feels great but I don't if she feels the same about it,"he honestly confessed.

"She definitely must have fallen for you...no lady can resist you, you know that,"Vivan reassuringly told him and smiled at him playfully.

"I wish it was the same with her,"Max responded calmly and sipped more wine from the glass.

"Yeah I get it...she is very unique and special as well,"Miguel confessed.Max threw him a sharp glance soon when he was done with his statement.

"What?....I just stated the truth,"Miguel tried to defend himself when he saw how he looked at him.

"Man you don't have to kill him with that glance,"Vivan jokingly told Max,"anyways what's your view then...do you think she likes you as well?"he asked.Max sniffed the air and wiped an imaginary dust from his upper lip before responding.

"I don't know yet....and we haven't even spoken since our engagement night,"he honestly responded.Miguel who was sipping his wine while listening to him, choked at his words abd started coughing.Max turned and looked at him again.

"Are you for real...?"Vivan asked him loudly while frowning at him.

"You aren't even sure if she loves you and you are already giving her that attitude!?"Miguel finally spoke when his cough stopped.

"That's not it guys....am not giving her any attitude...it's just that we had an argument that night,"he explained himself.

"An argument!...with Ammy?"Miguel asked again.

"Were we talking about any other person if not her?"Max retorted angrily at him and Miguel just let out a loud sigh.

"Less tension please guys...so tell us about the argument,"Vivan spoke.Max licked his lips shortly and shifted his gaze towards them.

"She wanted to know about my past relationships and I just remembered that stupid girl and I got mad and I..."he stammered a little.

"And you what....?"the impatient Miguel asked almost immediately.

"I told her that she should never ask me such a silly question in her miserable life..."he gladly finished his statement.Vivan bursted out laughing and the two other men just stared at him.

"What's so funny?"Miguel finally asked him.

"Everything he said, unless you didn't hear him...her miserable life.. isn't that funny?"Vivan responded still laughing.

"No it's not...nothing is funny with that...how can he say that to her just because she wanted to know something about him?"Miguel responded calmly.

"And you never apologized?"Vivan asked when he stopped his sarcastic laughter.

"Apologize?....I definitely didn't,"Max answered while frowning.

"OMG...I don't think she should even fall in love with you, let alone like you,"Miguel spoke angrily and pushed his seat back noisily and stood.

"You leaving already?"Vivan asked him.Miguel gulped the remaining content in the glass and grabbed his jacket from the back of his seat.

"Definitely...I don't want to contract his psycho-ness,"Miguel responded and began walking away.Max just looked him and remained silent.

"Okay....am coming with you then,"Vivan responded, he too standing from his seat.

"You leaving too?"Max asked him and Vivan nodded at him.

"What should I do then?.... apologize?"he asked him as he almost walked away from the table.

"The great Maxwell Storm...apologize to a woman?"Vivan sarcastically asked and walked away.Max could feel the sarcasm in his statement but he wasn't sure if he was the one to apologize or if she was the one to apologize for asking such a question.Max poured all the remaining contents in his glass in his mouth and also left. The car was silent as it drove through the quiet road of Gel at such late hours.

"Sham..."Max called his chief guard from the back seat.

"Sir..."came Sham's respectful answer.

"If your wife makes you angry in any way and you end up hitting her or saying something hurtful to her...what will you do then?"Max asked quietly while staring at him.

"Well sir, am not married yet but if I was then in no way or reason will I hit my wife or say something very hurtful to her and if I do out of anger then I will apologize afterwards,"he responded respectfully.Max nodded at his words and what followed after was the deafening silence until the car reached the mansion.

"I guess I should apologize then,"he muttered to himself as the car drove into the parking lot.

"Sir...?"Sham called thinking that his boss was talking to him.

"It's nothing Sham...thank you for your honest response,"he responded and got off the car after a guard opened the door for him.The two men at the front seats eyed each other wide eyed and got off the car as well to escort their boss.

"Did the boss say thank you?"Trevan, Max's personal driver whispered into Sham's ear.

"I almost asked you the same question,"Sham answered at the same tone.Max got into his house and found Colbert standing at the door.

"Welcome sir.... should I set the table for you sir?"he asked when Max was almost walking past him.

"No Bert..."came Max's short answer and he headed upstairs.Max took his bath and wore his pyjamas before laying on the bed.He was still on the bed, facing the ceiling as if he was waiting for something to come out of it.He finally turned to his side and picked his phone from the bedside glass table. He searched his contacts until he found Ammy's number and selected it.He almost clicked on the call button but he was reluctant.

"What if she is asleep already?....I won't call her now, maybe tomorrow before going to work,"he convinced himself and kept the phone on the bedside table.

At that very same time back at the Storms Mansion, Ammy laid on her back on the bed,her phone in her hand.It had been weeks since she had an argument with Max and yet he hadn't called to apologize for his behavior. She had not told Milady nor Maya about it but she was quite disturbed by the fact that he didn't even care to apologize for what he said that day.She therefore thought that she should call him and apologize but she was reluctant.

"What if he is asleep already?...he is a busy man after all... calling at this time isn't such a good idea and I don't think I should apologize over the phone...I should go to his place tomorrow,"she spoke to herself still laying on the bed.

"But if I apologize to that cold and grumpy and proud man then I will give his the satisfaction he wants from me....and I don't want that,"she continued lecturing herself.

"But what if he gets angrier and decides to call off the wedding and I don't get to be with Andy again?...I can't risk it....I will have to apologize tomorrow,"she finally made up her mind and switched her phone off and went to sleep.
