As he walked into the forest as the day quickly passed into night the ethereal voice suddenly said from the ring " you should rest here for the night. Your body shouldn't be pushed to an extent of non replenishment."
Hearing the voice's words, Grem slowed down and looked for a suitable place for the night before coming to a small open area near a small pond. " Here should be a good spot to rest. Do you think we can stay for the night?" Grem asked softly.
The ethereal voice reply came quickly "yes here should be fine.". As the voice's reply came he looked around and a phantom version of the tower stood next to the trees and stood in the inky black sky.
As Grem entered the tower he looked through the books of history of this world called "Golangane" apparently was a high magic realm that had unique laws that dictated magic abilities and functions. The way this world was formed is the blood of ancient gods left behind pure mana that created the magic realms and the ones tied to it. After browsing through the history books, a book that was covered in dust fell off the top of the shelf in a rather weird way and the title of the book was "magic manipulation and spell creation" and a small letter right behind the title page that read.
Son if you're reading this that means that our country has failed and we as parents have failed you. This book is something you were going to receive at the time of your coming of age ceremony. This letter means that we are dead and the country that once stood near the top of this realm has fallen. Within this book lies all the keys that you may need if you are as special as your mother told me you would be. I know that this is a lot of knowledge for someone who probably didn't get raised in this realm. I have faith that if you found this book and the tower maybe if only for one time maybe we as parents could find just a bit of peace knowing our son has returned to where he was supposed to be. We don't know what hardships you have suffered to get where you are now, but just know that as you get older the struggles will only become more dire and gruesome. If you don't want this lifestyle we won't blame you if you took the money and ran away to live off the gold that was left. Just know that we love you, even if we have never met or will never meet you will always be our son.
Love your parents Grace and John Shatteredsoul.
After Grem finished reading the letter a strange void in his heart was suddenly less empty like he had found something he had lost a long time ago. Tears streaming down his face and soft muffled cries filled the tower as he lay there on the floor holding the book.
After hours had passed he lay there staring at the ceiling as questions of the day left his mind foggy and cloudy. He called out to the ethereal voice "is there a way for me to return home? And can you answer some of my questions?"
The originally dark room suddenly lit up in a soft blue color as the ethereal voice responded "there is a way for you to return to the realm y" came from but at a strength far beyond your current one. What other questions did you have, young master?"
"How many realms are there? Will I ever get to go home? Is this really me? Aren't I just a farmer? Am I ready to build a kingdom?" questions poured out of Grem's mouth
The ethereal voice heard the outburst of questions before replying "the realms are endless because magic is constantly forging new ones all the time as old ones fall. Yes when your own power reaches the peak of the world you should be able to go home. You are both Wil Payne and Grem Shatteredsoul, so yes this is the real you. You were just a farmer but now you're the young lord of a fallen nation. No, as you are now, but as you travel the lands and learn you to be capable in record time."
Hearing the answers Grem was at a loss for a moment of time as he lay in bed and held his book in tears for both his parents on earth and the ones he had lost here. He felt as if the whole world that he knew was a shattered and broken lie.
As those tears dried up he drifted into a heavy sleep that lasted till the sun was already past peaking over the peak of the tree tops. Grumbling as the light filled his eyes after a long sleep "No one tells you that being teleported to a realm took so much energy."
He stood up, and the tower once again became transparent before fading again. Beginning his day trekking into the Ebonheart Vale he finally began to see the outline of Nula village but it appeared withered and desolate. Suddenly from the trees came 10 swift shadows as they surrounded him with bows drawn and taunt with arrows of many elements. "Why have you come here human? What are you planning to do? Who are you and who do you serve?" A heavenly voice of the female elf in charge filled Grem's ears as he stared.
"I am Grem Shatteredsoul, I am the last remaining heir of the Shatteredsoul empire that fell 1000 years ago. I have come here to see if the Elves that once helped and stayed with my parents are still willing to help if the time comes." Grem said loudly so that all those who stood near him would hear his words.
The surrounding forest descended into utter silence….
