Chapter 13: Through the Wormhole

Upon the Captain's order Laurence threw the switch that ignited the chrono-engine definitively this time. His attention then snapped to the smaller but more important engine as it blazed into activity.

The light in the engine room grew almost blinding as the emissions from the chrono-engine became increasingly brighter. Laurence fumbled the brass-framed eye shields into place over his spectacles. A hum was felt more than heard throughout the ship. The low tone began in the chest then spread outward until it vibrated across the skin. It was disturbing in the least, but just before it became panic inducing the energy that built pulsed outward like a shot and seemed to drag them all with it.
