Chapter 17: Disembark

"Wellington." Geri's grumbling voice came out a moment before he tossed a fabric bag to the Historian. The bag's drawstring was pulled tight, and it made a clinking noise as Nigel caught it.

The Historian pulled open the bag to examine the contents then nodded in satisfaction. "That will be plenty, I should think." He tied the bag to the inside of his robe. "Silver testones stamped between 1482 and 1486. Approximately twenty of them, Captain."

Alex nodded then turned for the panel that would release the gangplank. Her fingers plucked up the skirt of her dress in an expert manner that proved she was just as comfortable in a gown as she was in khakis, jackboots, and a military jacket. "Mr. Reynolds, give Mr. Kane a dagger and a pistol, if you please." She could feel the Security Officer's stare on her back as she entered the code to lower the ramp but ignored it. All of them would need to be armed...just in case.
