Nyx/ Asher

I was at a party, it has been so long since I had been to a party, I was not invited here, nor do I know anyone here, not like it can stop me. I do this all the time, crashing parties, this one is by far the grandest party I have crashed; I grabbed a glass of champagne from a passing waiter. Usually, I don't have any motive except for just drinking and enjoying myself, not today though. I have some very important things to do today.

I grabbed the masks that were kept in the corner. There was one with black feathers that looked beautiful, so I grabbed it, and went to find a particularly pretty boy.

I was in a palace, it belongs to prince Damien, the first cousin of prince Asher, prince Damien hosts parties like these at least once a month, in his grand palace. It was built entirely of white marble, with towering columns and ornate arches that reached towards the sky. The palace was surrounded by lush green gardens and sparkling fountains.

In the darkness of the night the palace came alive with light, with its countless windows and balconies aglow in a warm, golden hue. Guests arrived at the palace, their carriages and horses carrying them through the magnificent gates, which were guarded by soldiers in shining armor. There were countless guards that stood guard, none of them detecting me as I slipped past them.

The palace was bustling with activity as the guests made their way inside. The grand hall was adorned with sparkling chandeliers that hung from the ceiling, casting shimmering light across the room. The walls were lined with intricate tapestries and paintings. I guess the house that I live in is better than this, with my own personal lake, and a great view of the forests surrounding it.

It was easy to spot him amidst the crowd, there was something that made everyone give him wide breath as they passed him. Everyone in the room was aware of his presence, maybe it was just because he was handsome, his tall frame towering over the others. His jet-black hair was styled in a messy yet stylish manner, and his dark suit hugged his muscular frame perfectly. Those chiseled features, sharp cheekbones, and dark eyes, a sigh escaped me as I admired him, I can see several ladies sending flirty smiles his way. I guess he is quite popular.

He was in the middle of the room with his group of friends around him, with a glass of whiskey in his hand. His friends were chatting and laughing around him.

I know I know, I should stay away from him, as mor insisted, who would have thought he would turn out to be a prince? It only makes me want to tease him more. I had been looking forward to meeting him, I want to see his reaction after the little stunt I pulled, what will he do? Will he punish me? He won't be able to catch me though. As I do technically, I do not exist.

I followed him hoping to catch him alone, he will not be able to sense me this time as I made sure to put extra spells around me. I have learned a new spell from the book in the secret room, they were really interesting books, I wanted to try the spell on him. There is no better candidate for it than our beloved prince.

I cannot risk meeting him in front of others as I have a reputation to protect. I can wait as the alcohol is pretty great here, I grabbed another glass of champagne. Just when I was getting tired of waiting, he excused himself, walking towards the stairs, leaving the ballroom.

It was the time. I chanted a spell the magic flowed in me as a beautiful little bird made of magic appeared infront of me, fluttering its delicate wings as it twirled around Infront of me. It was a messenger bird, one can send messages through it, giving it whatever shape we want. As I whispered the message it soured in to the air flying towards him, as it began to get closer to him it began to pulse with energy. The magic that is packed inside its form was about to be released.

ASHER

I was exhausted, all I wanted to do was go and get some rest from all this noise and drama. I don't know why Damien invites so many people to his party, he doesn't know half of them. I stood on the balcony, removing the tie, I unbuttoned the top three buttons to let the air cool me down, it was sweaty down there. I don't know why I agreed to come to the party. If I hadn't missed his birthday, I would not have attended this party.

I know I should have attended his birthday but I was halfway across the planet, so unless I am a witch how would I have been able to attend it. And it was over ten years ago and he is still holding a grudge over it. If he was not my favorite cousin, I would not have to go through all this.

Just when I was about to enter the private room, I felt something or someone following me. I turned just in time to see. A little bird swirling with magic as it got closer to me, It started pulsing.

Suddenly, the bird exploded in a shower of colorful sparks taking me aback in surprise. The sparks swirled around and reformed into a small, folded piece of paper. The paper floated gently to the ground, landing softly in front of me.

There was something written on the paper. Is this a joke? Who dared to do this to me? I bent down to see what was written inside the paper,

I WAS BEHIND YOU. YOU DIDN'T EVEN KNOW.

What does this mean? There were many people behind me and I was aware of every one of them. Maybe it was just someone trying to get my attention. There have been many girls who had sent me letters, this one was by far the most creative. but no one would dare to send something like that to me.

Then it hit me. There is someone, Little bird. It was so clear. It was her. She is here.
