Chapter 36

"Eh?" That was all everyone present in the room could say after hearing David's reply. Even Nighteye was a bit shocked by it but quickly composed himself as a small smile appeared on his face. After a few seconds, he started laughing.

"After so many years your the first one to have the guts to stand up to me. I like you kid." Nighteye said while standing up from his seat.

"Let's go and start the spar" Nighteye said to which others just nodded. Some were already coping with the fact that David just spoke arrogantly to Sir Nighteye.

After a while, everyone was standing on the training ground.

"I will be the judge of this match so you both know the rules no lethal attacks or anything that can cause permanent damage to the opponent." Ryuko (Dragon hero: Ryukyu) said.

"Don't worry Sir, me and James have been friends for almost 3 years now. We won't cross the line" Mirio said as he fist-bumped James.

Both of them stood opposite to each other and Ryuko became the judge while David along with others sat in the spectators row.

"START" Bubble girl shouted.

David had started using seismic sense as he knew Mirio's quirk. As the match started Mirio went underground. James started looking around and the next second he started coming out of the ground from behind James. James quickly jumped and dodged the incoming punch by rolling ahead on the ground. While rolling he shot lasers towards Mirio which he dodged easily by sidestepping.

Mirio rushed towards James to punch him and James also tried to deflect his hand but his hand went through Mirio's. James moved to the side to punch Mirio but the same thing happened as his hand passed right through. James shot 2 lasers towards Mirio forcing Mirio to go back underground.

While the whole fight was happening Nighteye was just observing the match with a serious look and Nejire was cheering with all her Might. Even though she and James were somewhat dating, Mirio was also a good friend of hers.

David had already somewhat figured out the weakness of Mirio's quirk. He was calculating how much time Mirio was able to keep his quirk activated continuously. He was also observing his blood flow and heartbeat rhythm.

'So his blood radiates the energy flowing through his body to each and every cell where his quirk needs to be activated. This means If I take control over all his blood then he won't be able to activate his quirk. But blood control is my current trump card and those who see it are either those I trust completely or my enemies who won't live to tell the tale. Let's focus on his breathing patterns' David thought.

In the arena, James and Mirio were continuously dodging each other's attacks. No one had the upper hand even after 5 minutes. Now, this was becoming a game of stamina.

'Mirio isn't letting the lasers go through his body. This means emitter attacks can touch him even if his quirk is activated. I wonder how his quirk will react to aura. Will my aura-covered body go through him or make him kneel. Every time he inhales his quirk deactivates, even if it is for 2-3 seconds he is vulnerable in that time frame.' David was thinking.

In the end, James tried using multiple bending lasers to force Mirio to go underground which was getting exhausting for Mirio.

"I admit defeat" Mirio said while heavily panting.

"Damm Mirio I won't be able to defeat you if we are in a real-life situation. You can run away anywhere and even sneak attack me." James said while passing a water bottle towards Mirio.

"Mirio admits defeat. James is the winner." Ryuko declared and Nejire started running towards James and hugged him.

"Yayyy!!...You won James. After practicing so much you were able to defeat him." Nejire said.

"Yess...the practice bore fruit in the end but I still have a long way to go" James said.

"WE HAVE A LONG WAY TO GO," Nejire said while putting one hand on James's shoulder while the other on Mirio's.

"Nejire you can't fall behind them now. I will have to train you harder" Ryuko said from the side while David and the others were also walking towards the center of the arena.

"Both of you did very well. James, you need to find more flexible ways to use your quirk, and Mirio you could have ended the fight but you wasted your chance. David, what do you think of the performance of your seniors?" Nighteye said looking towards David while others also wanted to know David's opinion. They didn't know much about David, just that James claimed David was stronger than him.

"None of them made any decisive moves and gave the opponent a lot of time to figure out your fighting style and even your weakness. This was a SPAR, not a FIGHT" David said.

The real meaning of the last line was only understood by Nighteye and Ryuko who widened their eyes.

'He is nothing like James. From his presence to his point of view, everything is different.' Nighteye thought while he looked at Ryuko who was thinking the same.

"Hey, James your in Class 1-A right? What happened today? I heard there was a lot of commotion" Mirio said.

"Nothing much, just some villains had a pipe dream to kill All Might so they brought an enhanced monster with them but got beat up by the students" David said in a bored tone.

"An enhanced monster...hmm now that's something I've never heard of" Ryuko said

"James, why are your hair color like this at the tip? Is it related to your quirk? And your Bright blue eyes are also related to it?" Nejire started bombarding David with questions.

"Nejire cooldown a little. Don't overwhelm him with your questions." James chuckled.

"David James says your strong why don't we fight?" Mirio asked with excitement.

Before David could say anything he could hear someone walking behind so everyone looked back to see a blue-haired nervous teen standing.

"Hey Tamaki you took your sweet time to come here" James said.

(At first, I did think of replacing Tamaki with James in Big 3 but I didn't know if Tamaki will be needed in the future or not so just ended up adding James)

"David this is Tamaki. He is also in our class and together we are the 'BIG 4' " Mirio said.

Tamaki was the nervous type so he just smiled a little and nodded at David and David nodded back.

"Mirio you and James are exhausted so go back home for now. You can have a match with David sometime in the future." Nighteye said.

"Nejire we also have patrol work to do so let's go. Play time's over" Ryuko said.

"Mmmm...Ryukyu I really wanted to stay more time but it's fine" Nejire said while pouting.

Nejire hugged James and waved bye to David and the others and left with Dragon hero Ryukyu.

"James you go home. I have something to do at the dojo" David said James nodded.

After talking a little while with Nighteye and Mirio, David left for his dojo where he wanted to meet Akira or Renji to give them a copy of the documents he got from the supplier Shino.
